I've been waiting for the moment to do disposable printed cores with threaded tubes. 22 first.

Not sure if I fully trust a printed mount in 24tpi threads but its probably fine. Will probably end up turning a mount out of 17-4 or something.
Balance of optimizing performance, durability, 3d-printability. Sure there will be plenty of room for improvement as I was just going off feels and past form1s.

Not really a ton of room for flow-through stuff in a 1" can with FDM without sacrificing volume. Could maybe get creative with some thin tubing in conjunction with the print.

The side cutouts are just so I can inspect and so it doesn't just look like a toob. A sealed wiped core filled with pulling gel would be fun too.

Isn’t this what Ian Fleming initially had Bond carrying until someone wrote a fan letter telling him it a was a bitch gun?
Yessir. A fan who was an armorer wrote Fleming after the first couple books and told him that an agent like Bond wouldn't use such a small, feminine whore's pistol. If I recall, the quote was something along the lines of "That pistol he carries would be much better suited for a lady. And not a very nice lady at that!"
The armorer and Fleming became good friends, and he would regularly write to him on advice for armoring in future books. So much so that he invented the character of Q for Bond, who was based on this armorer he wrote to.

EDIT: That reminds me to sperg about the change in Bond and the gun/gear side of the character. Fleming cared enough to take advice from someone whose job it was to arm men of action appropriately and take advice, often overriding the rule of cool because it wouldn't make sense from a logical standpoint for Bond to bring an RPG with him. Someone sent me a picture of a paragraph from one of the newer books. In it Bond walks into a secret meeting and literally talks about how strange and gross it was that all the people in the room were old white men, since he was so used to muh strong black muslim women everywhere. Quite a change from Bond in the first few books describing "the negroes were well dressed, appearing unintelligent but having a deep, malicious animal cleverness in their eyes."

Yep. That said the 418 is VERY slender and small so it's insanely concealable.

Almost all .25s are so damn little. Later on in the books Bond would get an ASP, then a PDP with a detour into some FN 1903s.

In fact, in the books Bond keeps a "long barreled Colt" in his car either a .45 1911 or a Colt SAA for more serious gunfights. I'm gonna assume it's a .45 1911 because kino.

The "Long barrel Colt" has always been a sticking point for people since Fleming wasn't a huge gun enthusiast and spent more time describing Saville suits, ferragamo slippers, and brands of cigarettes. Not until "Q" came along did the guns get more descriptive. Fleming was British Intelligence during WW2, so it was very grounded that pre-Action Hero Bond would have a very small, low round gun. The idea was that he was a spy, not a shooter. Much more intrigue and subterfuge than gunfights.

I think it makes more sense for it to be a .45 1911 due to his close workings with Americans during missions of WW2 and beyond.

But I'd be lying if I didn't say the idea of him having a Nicholson Joker sized SAA in the backseat didn't make me happier.

Ah and Geoffrey Boothroyd also suggested Bond use a S&W hammerless J-frame as well but alas S&W supremacy had to wait until Dirty Harry. Could you imagine Bond defaulting to a J-frame?

Propah Br'ish gun enthusiast righty oh

Uh...it wasn't an SAA Nicholson used as the Joker in the 1989 Batman. It was an S&W Model 15. A 15-3 IIRC. His other pistol, the one he used as Napier to kill the Waynes and the famous BANG flag scene, was a Colt New Service.

Save yourself the trouble, the FTN3 22 is the quietest of all 3D ones on a pistol. Most efficient for the size would be the FTN6 slim and most rugged would be any of the FTNs. The bigger FTN6 uses way more plastic and weighs more than the 3 with CF sleeve, fine but not ideal.
None of the others really set themselves apart in worthwhile ways, of the 75 or so out there.
Tax free mask is maybe one exception as it's durable, quiet, and compact but has more first round pop than others.

Your thing is a bit similar to the MP22 design if that one's still available. 20 rounds dumped through a pistol will destroy one even with PA and PPS material. It's probably the most efficient but with there being only 20g of plastic it's too hot in no time. Fine bolt can if size/weight is of most importance and the K version is interesting at like 2 inches. Very delicate design in terms of snapping but beefing it up a bit maybe with a steel washer blast baffle and putting it inside a capped tube and not tensioned like current it could be better but then weight is pretty much there to an FTN3 with aly mount and cf sleeve.
Biggest failure seems to be blast baffle softening and flowing which then touches the bullet and starts baffle strikes that blow the rest to bits. By having just the blast baffle not do that you could probably triple the count.

I don't know if this belongs here. I didn't want to necropost on old threads. I can't find one specifically dedicated to advancing gun rights in other Western countries. Here's a laugh: a bunch of singular they/thems wrote:
2A's mission is to advance human rights with guns, empowering users to defend against tyrannical governments, mass surveillance, and internet censorship. We hate that there are some people who use guns for nefarious purposes, and we condemn the misuse and exploitation of weapons for criminal activity.

It's essential to understand that criminal intent lies with the individuals and not the tools they use. Just like other widely available weapons, guns can be used by individuals with criminal intent. And because of other options they can use it seems unlikely that taking guns away from the world will stop them from engaging in criminal activity. At the same time, guns and other destructive devices can fight theft, physical crimes like assualts, and be used by law enforcement to investigate crime and help support survivors.

No trouble. I do it for the love of the game and nothing else.

TBH I've never got much enjoyment out of printing other peoples stuff. Some of my fairly popular foss designs are just me making something for fun vs. downloading Chairmanwons 100th glock.

Heat soak is definitely gonna be the biggest hurdle but I'm was never really aiming to do mag dumps with one. I'm certainly capable of machining one.

I'd love to see the inside of an older gen B&T tiger with nylon baffles. Pictures are scarce.
No clue what the fuck is going on here.

Edit:
I wonder if B&T just took their old MK23 baffle design and molded them in nylon because these look similar.

That's a Ruger Blackhawk. very similar to this one:

Colt also made an SAA with adjustable sights. I believe it was called the Frontier and looks very similar to the Blackhawk. It's kinda hard to tell exactly what it is because it's a pretty low quality black and white photo.

nah, it's for sure a Ruger. it has the same square back trigger guard which Colt never used on the SAA or new frontier. it has the hump around the rear sight where as the colt has a flat top and the front sight is clearly the blackhawk front sight which is more blocky than the Colt New Frontier's sight.

Speaking of Bond guns, is the PPK as dogshit as everything I've read on it says?

all the ledditors calling this fake but wholesalers are saying the same thing.

what do they have left now? the rxm, american, and 10/22?

according to their earnings report they're currently making a profit and have no debt so i really don't understand wtf they're thinking
they are either going all in on plastic slop or the machines for the revolvers/rifles were worn out and have to be replaced. they're doing a thing they call Ruger 2030 which is supposed to future proof the company so whatever is happening is for sure part of that.
