What do we think about the Gen 2 Ruger Americans? I was thinking of getting one in .223/5.56 with a 20" barrel with a $900 Vortex first focal plane scope mounted to it. I have a range near me that pushes out to 500 yards.

Great entry bolt gun. My 6mm ARC has killed 4 deer and a dozen hogs.

I bought one and ended up selling it not long after. All the features on it were great and I wanted to like it, but opening the bolt after dropping the firing pin was just incredibly heavy to a distracting degree. If that doesn't bother you then otherwise it's awesome.

I just want to rant about fudds and old timers and the culture for a second.

Trying to get a dying club moving. They are open once a month for one shoot, youngest person there is in their 40s, next youngest, 60s, then its a solid group in their 70s.

Put in a bunch of work getting flyers printed, social media setup, drum up a bunch of interest from a non geriatric crowd. I'm getting pushback on setting up a square reader for taking payment (pay per round), like taking some big stand push back. I'm getting push back on putting signs out (Ill buy and do the work) so people don't feel odd driving past an often locked gate to the range with no signs. I'm getting push back on doing the open shoot after 5pm because the old timers all worked 3rd shift and can't imagine the economy of the town has changed. Push back on _everything_ and they wonder why less and less people keep showing up. Built a website, email list, the works, every step of the way is painful.

I keep trying to explain that a phone tree isn't sustainable or going to work. These guys who have never left this small town can't understand how new people could have any reservations about showing up to an unmarked range on private property with their guns. "You showed up" "Ya,,,, but I'm an autistic weirdo, don't count on more of me"

I've got our first big event going on tonight and I'm hoping for any turn out. Good vibes for me kiwis. I'm doing battle with boomers.

I do, but I don't have your typical blue collar job. I carry either a Dan Wesson Specialist or Staccato P in an OWB holster on my hip. My job does have a uniform, but it's fairly casual: 5.11 pants and either a polo shirt or short sleeve button up with the company logos and my name on it. I carry every day, and though it isn't exactly encouraged I won't get in trouble for it because of state laws. I also have a new Colt Python that I've bought for the intention of using as a carry gun, also with an OWB holster.
Brag brag brag! Some of us are well aware you're a market analyst or such.
Focus Tripp has that weird groyper stink to him. He'll make a few good clips, then start crying because he saw a boob or something.
Focus Tripp is a fucking dumb faggot. He's not quite on the level of Trench Grenade but he's a close second. I hope he gets cancer.

they're fine if your dirt poor. if you have any money at all you should get a better gun like a Winchester, Remington, Bergara, Tikka/SAKO, etc.

Remingtons built since the first Gulf War are dogshit. The only benefit is the sea of aftermarket parts.

Sako’s and Tikkas are excellent.

The Ruger Ranch rifles are perfect for their niche and most people can’t outshoot them.

I do not like the feeling of manipulating the bolt, but it's an improvement over the Gen 1. The 7.62x39 variant taking AK mags is very cool. Discontinuing the Gunsite Scout to put a forward rail on the Ruger American is retarded since people are now just buying them to use with a dogshit LPVO.

LOL I fucking WISH! Well, not the actual job since it sounds like it would be boring misery for me, but I'd absolutely love that kind of paycheck.

No, I'm a very proud blue collar guy from a very long line of blue collar men. Frontiersmen, pioneers, settlers, ranchers and sheep herders, shopkeeps and watch repairmen, and military and lawmen. My old man was the first in my family to go to college and he still ended up in a blue collar field (law enforcement).

I'm proud to carry on that blue collar, workingman tradition. In fact, I regularly wear old fashioned flat caps (newsboy hats) because about 100 years ago the flat cap was seen as the blue collar workingman's hat. It wasn't just newsies, but plumbers, electricians, mechanics, iron workers, bricklayers, bus drivers, railroad workers, and any other profession where a man earned an honest living by the strength of his back and the sweat on his brow. That's why any time you see photos of working class men from the late 1800s up to about the 1940s, like the men up on the high iron building the Chrysler Building or Empire State Building, they're almost always wearing flat caps. It was almost seen as part of the blue collar uniform at the time. Sure, you'd also see white collar and wealthy men wearing flat caps as well, but for them it was usually "casual wear". They'd wear them while taking a country drive, or while hunting, or while spending a weekend in the woods. They were not ubiquitous daily attire for the upper crust like they were for the working class.

I have been very fortunate to have finally found myself a profession that I enjoy doing, that is in a field that I've always had a great interest with, that pays me decently as someone who has no greater education or special trade beyond high school, and where I get to come home to my family every day. It's also a pretty unique job that you don't hear too many people doing, which is why I'm not being specific about what I do to maintain a level of op sec.

It's never going to make me a rich man, but it provides my family and I (along with my wife's income) to have a comfortable life, an actual house that we own instead of rent, decent reliable cars, some luxuries and hobbies, occasional travel, proper care for our dogs and cats, and it's something I am proud to be doing. It's also a job where I'm actually contributing to my community and society at large, not a job where I'm part of the parasite class pecking away at a keyboard all day and not building/making/producing/repairing/servicing anything that's actually of value to society.

most people cant outshoot any gun. The point is the cheap ruger rifles are built cheaply. they're not nice at all, and if you care any at all about the quality of the rifles you shoot you'll quickly regret wasting the money on it.

This feels almost exactly what I ran into when I was trying to cajole my local club to do literally anything to save itself. I ended up just leaving and joining a small club that a guy was running out of his gravel pit and my cortisol levels have never been lower.

It’s a gun built to put meat on the table or protect a ranch not an heirloom. It’s a gun that frankly I don’t give a damn about if it gets scratched by mesquite tree thorns while I’m out and about.

It fills a niche and does a damn good job at it.

Ive got one. It’s a great 1 MOA gun even using cheap $500 vortex glass that has taken 4 deer.

Edited to add:
It’s better quality then a Remington but below a SAKO or Winchester 70

People showed up. It was good. People who live in the area and didn't know it existed until now showed up. Big win.

Ian McCollum even making a video saying that is most likely not the case and they have a tolerance stacking issue with completed pistols as a theory not that a MIM part is bad and picked a part that theory that FocusTripp touted as truth. Tripp couldn't handle it and got ass mad about Ian and doubled down.
Lol he got bit MAD Gun Jesus slapped him down
Meanwhile he touches the poo and interviewed BPD women who GarandThumb tried to breed to make drama content. He is a dumbshit hypocrite with a chip on his shoulder.
There we go. He's a seething tard because Garandthumb is getting insane BPD pussy and he is not. A tale old as time.

It is indeed. In the MiUSA hunting rifle hierarchy it goes: Remington (shit), Savage (better but can be bad so be careful), Ruger ( American and ranch rifle), Marlin (pretty lever action, Ruger actually), back to Ruger (Hawkeye), Weatherby, then off to the weird custom stuff that's giga expensive.

Most else in made in the EU or Japan even if it has an American brand name. Anything from Tikka or SAKO is awesome but you'll now lay the damn Tikka tax as people have figured out how good they are.

Yay 😁 now to collect those sweet sweet dues

I got one in 6.5 creed. I bought a cheap 12x44 scope for it and I honestly should upgrade it. I was ringing a 10in steel plate very consistently at 500 yards. It's probably my favorite bolt action that I own.

Based Iridi pfp btw

surprisingly not as much as you'd expect. you can get a very lightly used fully custom bolt gun for 2k-4k. I'm talking fancy wood, hand cut checkering, high quality bluing, maybe some engraving all basically hand built. since people that could afford these guns knew to take care of them they are almost always in top condition even if they're 100 years old. R.F Sedgley, Weber & Markin, Paul Jaeger, Griffin & Howe and a slew of other names are all out there. these guns are so undervalued in the market today.
