Reportedly they’ll be about $2k each. But here’s hoping we won’t see what happened with their Garands, where people would buy a crate of them for $1k each to immediately resell for $1500+ a pop.
We all know this is exactly what will happen. And sometimes it just confounds me, it always seems like maybe like 15 total elder gen x (neo boomer) dudes on gunbroker get the entire supply, sit on it for like 3 years then resell at +40% msrp minimum. I always wonder how they seem to have endless money to do this, as they also somehow do this to all classic cars, collectables and precious metals. It's like this small population of around 45 thousand old fat dudes have enough money to buy up anything that isn't already bought out by the actually wealthy.
I see "reclaimed" m1s on sale at the cmp for $1150, while I already have one I do want another .308 garand so I can ruin it by getting a prism mounted to it.

Pension checks, 401k liquidation and retarded spending habits.

Also, IMHO at this point I'd get a new production M1 for a .308 model.

The reclaimed ones are almost $800 cheaper than the new production, are the new production really that much better? Both are a mix of old parts with new barrel and stock, so unless the reclaimed receivers are just really that shit it doesn't seem worth it.

Type-26 update:

My chinese "gardening" pipe from Amazon finally came in so I started turning it into a receiver. Machined the charging handle slot and welded in the full auto blocker. Also made some jigs out of aluminum and copper to secure things during the reweld.

This is more or less what it will look like except the magazine will feed from the left hand side just like a STEN. Still not happy with the stock/brace mounting design though. There isn't enough room in the FCG housing between the FA denial bar, push pin lugs and AR-15 FRT. Any folding mechanism will have to exist outside of the housing which Is annoying because I'll have to weld on an extension which adds length and looks ugly. I despise 1913 style mounts but its looking like the option of least resistance.

The only thing I might add at this point is a handguard of some kind. Now that I can physically hold the thing in my hands, I've realized that its probably not safe to shoot without one. There's very little free space for a support grip with the snub nose barrel and 3 o'clock charging handle path. Might be the most difficult part. Its a delicate balancing act. If things are too clean it loses sovl. On the other hand its dangerously close looking like a Fallout 4 pipe gun or something from Star Wars which is gay as fuck.

So I recently found out that part of the OHWS contract which brought us the wonderful H&K Mk23 was a much hotter 185gr load for the pistol, essentially a +P+ or fairly equal to .45 Super and .450 SMC. There were two loads that were pretty much identical aside from the bullet used. One was a truncated cone FMJ for use during normal warfare, the other was a JHP for use in counter-terrorism and hostage rescue operations. And the Mk23 was designed to eat this stuff exclusively without issues, it's that overbuilt. So I think I'm going to pick myself up some .45 Super or .450 SMC ammo since my Mark23 will eat it and ask for seconds.

Having had experience with buying guns through the CMP, I think that the biggest issue is that most people don't buy the guns intending to resell. My mom and dad both have accounts with the CMP and didn't start buying until they were over 65 so they didn't have to be a member of an organized gun club to be eligible.

Back when the selection was a lot better, my dad bought some guns, and I bought some guns through my mom's account. We both still have all of them. This includes some really high-end items like M1Cs and M1Ds. My dad has a Winchester M1D. He also got an International Harvester (just regular Service Grade, but with original stock and all original fittings including Line Mfg. Co. barrel), the very last time that they had a few in stock. We have 11 M1 Garands that came from the CMP between us. I have no intention of selling mine. I will most likely end up inheriting his as well. There's a good chance that the soonest that any of these will be on the market is about 30 years from now.

I first heard about the M14s coming available from my mom several weeks ago. They are planning to buy as many as they can get.

How many homes do they own as rental properties?
