Like more eccentric/wildcatting on an AR based platform, or just weird and strange calibers in general? Do tell, it sounds interesting
I like weird cartridges or eccentric loads in general. I've got a 9.3x57mm featherweight brush gun. I've loaded 200gr bullets in .38 special. old timey 220gr .30-06 loads. full brass cased 12 gauge 2 1/2 in shells. heavy weight projectiles in .45 colt using black powder for low pressures.

I also like short rifles, but only if they were designed to be short. Stutzen rifles interest me, for the same reason a AR in .338 fed/ arc or 8.6BLK interest me.

A normal bolt action hunting rifle in .30-06/.308/.270 or whatever? I want a 24 to 26 inch barrel. with a falling block you can add even longer barrels without increasing OAL for even more velocity unless you meet the point of diminishing returns. I do NOT like the current trend of 18 to 20 inch bolt gun barrels. All these new high pressure cartridges promoting high velocities when you could achieve the same speeds with established cartridges with just a few more inches of barrel. I do not find that the shorter (but not SBR short) lengths make it any easier in the brush or thick woods.

I also like my recoil pads to be blaze orange. I only like leather slings. I refuse to hunt from tree stands. I like to sit behind trees or on top of cliffs and boulders.

All of this to say that I'm weird and contrarian I suppose.

By claiming that forced reset triggers are not full auto people are implicitly accepting the government's and anti-gun lobby's position that fully automatic fire is bad and should be banned for civilian use and ownership.
i think boomers are the ones who get caught up in the pilpul because they're afraid of an authority figure is going to drag them into hell by their own wording to make an example of them but younger people have intuitively navigated jewish bullshit as part of our public school education so we've all had to kiss the ring and know how to play both sides

they're called fully-semi-automatics, shortened to 'fully automatic' in common vernacular. obviously a totally different thing from an automatic weapon.

that sounds like it could be fun. I've just fell out of love with 5.56mm AR builds. hell, it's probably been near 10 years since i even had a passing interest. about all I'm interested in now are the eccentric calibers or builds.

I can respect that. I'm no stranger to obscure or unpopular cartridges, since I own an FK Brno PSD in 7.5fk and a vintage S&W Model 57 .41 Rem Mag. I absolutely love those cartridges and always thought a PDW/SMG designed around the 7.5fk cartridge would absolutely slap. And I've always wanted a Mauser C96 in .30 Mauser.

But most of my current collection has been built around common calibers: 9mm, .45 ACP, 5.56mm, 7.62x51mm NATO, .22lr, etc., to make it easier to keep them fed. My original collection was over 60 firearms of various styles and calibers and it became a pain in the ass to feed them all, even back when ammo prices were much more affordable. When it came time to start building my current collection I decided I would simplify things in the caliber department, especially for my "serious" guns, and only branch out into other calibers if the guns they're chambered in are ones that tickle my autism, like the S&W 57 or FK Brno.

The retro AR kinda bridges both worlds of being something that can be "serious" if needed, but also tickles my autism because of my interest in Cold War/Vietnam War weaponry, and then triggers the "what if" speculation part of my interest in guns. Like what if the Colt 607 either kept being iterated upon or perhaps was kept in some armory somewhere, some spec ops guy took a liking to it, and decided to make it more capable on the modern battlefield by adding optics to it?

I need someone to talk me out of getting a Honey Badger in 300 brown out. I know I can get a DDM4 which will leave me extra money for a can but something about the gun just seems like the way to go. I know SIG Sauer has some options but their QC is trash and I will not buy a gun from them after my 762 Patrol. I'm tossed up between a pistol or SBR because of the laws in my state, I doubt I will have it in my vehicle often so a two stamp gun is probably where I'm leaning. The $700 difference could cover most of the cost of a can. I have a bunch of lowers waiting for new homes, maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.
Stay the fuck away from Q.

Probably don't bother with .300 at all unless you have piss away for fun money and are short barrel + big suppressor min maxing for subsonic ammo.

It's fun and quiet, but I agree. I paid around $30 for a box of 20 rounds. If it weren't my brother's gun I wouldn't have bothered.

I am looking to have a subsonic platform to use that's not a 9mm. Purely for defensive use. I don't want to fire off a 5.56 or .308 inside of my house. I'll probably end up getting the DDM4 because that's two people who said stay away from Q.

Isnt 45 already subsonic? Just get a UMP

Edit: that was sarcasm, I'm sorry don't hurt me

Gun bros, the rear sight on my Bodyguard is loose in its dovetail. Not so much it can come out easily but it moves a whole lot side to side. Do I need a new rear sight or can it be fixed somehow as is?

Do they not have a setscrew on the rear sight?
Depending on why it's loose you could make a shim to slide under the sight in the dovetail to create more friction. I'd contact S&W but you might be waiting a long time since they've been shitting the bed for a while now.

Marston Leather has some options you might want to take a look at. I'm really considering their No.2 Shoulder Holster for my Python.
You're a saint, brother. Checking them out.

I just bought and installed a Pearson's No Drill on my pre-64 for deer season this year.
Last year, we all sighted our stuff in. Buuuuuuut, we got to drinkin' the night before the hunt, all of us fiddlefucked each others guns trying them all out.

Won't recall the embarrassing details, but all three of us missed shots Ray Charles would have to have been held upside down to fuck up.

So I put the Pearson's on the lever action, gonna throw the Sightmark MSpec on there and sight it at 150 so I at least know that no matter what, it'll still shoot at 150 the night after.

Also, as much as we love to clown on Boomers, I for one want to say how thankful I am for retired old fudds taking up machining as a hobby.
The dude on eBay who makes the repro WonderSights for 5 Screws, Pearson who makes modernization options for old ass lever guns that don't require a hacksaw and dremel, Kirst making cartridge converters for old BP pistols.
I hope we've got some dedicated youth willing to drink beer in their garage and figure out how to machine one specific weird thing that helps 1 out of 1000 people. I'm gonna be sad when all these old CNC machine boomers pass.

Reminder that if you've got your eye on one of these sorts of "One guy makes one, but I don't know if I wanna get it yet." boomer projects, get em before they die. I don't know that anyone will care to do it after.

300 blackout hate is unjustified imo
>but it's expensive
So don't use a 300 blackout upper as your range toy or LARP rig? Still a solid choice for a suppressed defensive carbine. It even has good availability at least in my neck of the woods. No, you do not need to put 15,000 rounds per year through your exact defensive rifle to be ready for a burglar, just zero it so that impacts in the same place as the AR you usually practice with at the hallway/in your yard distance and exercise it enough to make sure it actually works.
