Life hack: with astigmatism, you can turn a 2 MOA red dot into a 6 MOA red dot.
Mine is so bad that I legit cannot use any red dot. it's just a strawberry red smear across the glass. illuminated trad reticles work just fine for me.

but like a combat style red dot? complete non-starter. I won't shoot groups, I'll shoot patterns.

I am very happy that my glasses mostly "fix" my ability to use dots....

With parallax through my glasses...
sigh.

Edit: It took me watching youtube of all things, and noticing the fucking play symbol inside of the logo FUCKING MOVE left and right when I focus on it and turn my head...

A recent happening in the collectors market has baffled me; I ask this thread to explain.
Recently Israel has begun to phase out their older Tavors, which have then been cut up and imported as parts kits. Pretty standard fare. However, they run $600. Thats what I don't get. If you want a tavor, buy a used one for only $300 more. These IDF tavors aren't super historical, haven't seen much action other than skirmishes and border duty, and the tavor is still made now, and wasn't that old to begin with.

Why people are paying $600 for a gun that they can have used for $900 is strange.

I mean, I can believe that it's taking this long. the ruling created a huge cluster fuck in regards to state and federal law and the paperwork. all the paperwork is built around the NFA. There's not currently a box on the 4473 for a silencer, SBS, SBR etc. among other things.

We hear about "spaghetti code" in the vidya game world all the time and what we have right now is the same thing at ATF, and somebody pulled the single noodle that was holding the balled up mess together.

My bet is that they use this as an excuse to digitize everything. If you want to purchase a silencer, you can only do that through a new and improved digital 4473. One that gets shipped right to a government data lake. FFLs will jump at the chance to not have to manage their bound books or retain 4473's for 20 years and will only do transactions with digital 4473s.

finally new parts kits coming in for the first time in like 3 fucking years. the supply is so goddamn constrained. you know those fbp m948 kits with the barrels? those aren't a result of that new ATF ruling. they came in back in the 2000s. new old stock for miles and miles with no fresh shit in sight as long as the war in Ukraine continues. new AK parts kits aren't even being brought in anymore

they're working on online 4473s already as part of their new rule allowing the shipment of guns right to your door, so you may be right.

(I've not done a paper 4473 in years anyway so the stores are already digitizing on their end anyway)
