Sig is ruining itself because they hired Ron Cohen (the same covetous Jew who nearly wrecked Kimber) and he’s raping the company in the ass for short term profits at the cost of quality.

CZ is already making stuff like their own optics via Colt. I have no clue about the quality.

I inexplicably have a very high degree of confidence in Colt optics. I'm not dumb enough to race to own one luckily. I forgot CZ was their majority shareholder thus responsible for the optics line.

We’ll see. The only Colt I’ve ever owned was a series 70 stainless competition model. The pistol ran perfectly but the finish was lackluster for the MSRP.

Apparently the CMP has over 100,000 M14's to sell. This significantly reduces my estimate of the price. they may well be sold for M1A prices.

some boomers are gonna be malding the very scarce M14's on the market are about to be depreciated greatly. Personally, I want a winchester or TRW.

Also, don't forget that CMP is also getting surplus shotguns too.

CMP hasn't stopped the boomers from asking a couple thousand for unimpressive M1 Garands. It might affect the M1A market though, which is pretty overpriced IMO.

I paid 1200 for mine, probably more than it's worth but it's in good shape and I really really wanted one. I admit I probably over paid but it was chance to get one wanted it, suffered FOMO. Regret nothing for collecting, shooting a lot.

I don't know why but it's not the only m1 I've shot thing just is the wrong shape for me and BITES. I don't enjoy shooting it, even for that PING

It’s a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people but many WW2 guns are overrated. The Thompson being the best example in my opinion - it’s a giant hunk of shit.

anyone have experience with arex rex 01
ive been looking at hammer fired da/sa guns and it seems cool

they look cool too

prob just go for taurus th9 tho bc arex is hard to get and taurus' are cheapo
At that price point, I don't see why you don't just pick up a new cz p09. You're better off just buying best in class in that niche for $600. Plus you can mount a reflex sight on it straight out of the box.

In every conceivable way. I’ll argue the M1 Carbine was the best American small arm of the era though.
My grandpa was a lt during ww2 and saw a lot of combat. So I always thought the m1 was the bestest. Also hearing stories as a kid I didn't understand a lot so a "current gun" mag loaded semi auto light weight. I legitimate at 7 didn't see how it's not an AK or m16.

While his was lost to a supply he kept his pistol and it's mine now.

I've always had a huge soft spot for the carbine now I'm an old man and gun nerd it's grown. My very first firearm was an m1 carbine.

To this day, since my wife doesn't get a good cheek weld off the mp5 she keeps mine loaded under our bed. I joke with her we've had a longer relationship than her and I.

To history geek the fact a felon cooked it up bored is so based and patriotic.

30 carbine got a super bad rap being used wrong but it's not a bad round esp close up.

The book On Killing has pretty well cited sources claiming a lot of draftees purposefully missed the enemy up until Vietnam when infantry training got better.

People also have a tendency to get down when they’re being shot at PFC McMurphy from Nebraska is going to go to his grave saying he totally didn’t miss and the Nork soldier got back up (and healed himself like Wolverine).

One thing that never happens in war is KIA enemy corpses being drug back and poked and prodded by medical examiners.

Not to mention all the Fuddlore surrounding it. The memoir of the captain of Fox Company at Chosin reservoir started the whole myth of .30 carbine couldn’t penetrate Chinese winter coats and wrote that he ordered his men to aim for the head and had better results. Somehow fudds took this as marines are fantastic shots even in high stress environments and bugmen chinese don’t tend to their wounded and drag them off the battlefield.

I swear, egos are the biggest killers to firearms.

that langdon striker control device came up a couple times in the thread about the retard with the most stupid holster on the planet blasting himself in the balls. the store page says they're not compatible with clones, but, uh, why is that? would that be something a smith could work on to fit an RXM?

somewhat positive view of the thompson's ergonomics
An unloaded Thompson weighs more than a loaded M3 and cost six times as much for the government to buy compared to GM stamping out an M3; the lower cyclic rate of the M3 arguably makes it more comfortable to shoot also. The original design (useless Blish lock and all) was outdated when it debuted on the market though I'm sure it would have been appreciated had it made it to the battlefields of WWI it was intended for.

in the context of equipping a military thompsons are shit for the reasons you mentioned but as an individualized gun they're pretty neat and don't deserve 100% of the hate they get. after all the thing was designed around 1920, and at that time probably was the best thing around

the thing was designed around 1920
The Thompson Annihilator (its original name) was being developed as early as 1917 I believe because Thompson wanted a weapon to support US troops in the Spring Offensive of 1919 (which never ended up happening RIP).

By the early 1920s foreign designs by CZ, Steyr, SIG and Beretta were better but still expensive. The industrial expediency required by the outbreak of WWII was what really revolutionized submachine gun design.

It might have been fine if I had the proportions of an early 20th century man (140 pounds, 5'7) but as a biggish modern guy I just can't get my hand around the grip of the thompson. It doesn't help that my hands are perpetually swollen from arthritis but the pad at the base of my thumb just doesn't fit behind the grip, the back of my hand is all crammed against where the stock attaches to the receiver and I have to twist my hand out like 30 degrees to hold it and I have to either really curl my trigger finger back or just work the trigger with the base of my finger. At least for me it's one of the biggest disappointments in ergonomics I've ever experienced because it looks so cool but I just can't use it, even for fun. The paratrooper M1 carbines are a similar story. They're better but I can only fit two fingers on the grip, I have to either lift my pinky and just rest it on top of my ring finger or let it awkwardly hang loose. There's less grip space than a modern microcompact pistol, exacerbated by the bar where the folding stock attaches to the grip so I can't even do a half-pinky grip
