@Duke Nukem .577 is a military round so a big bullet that's slow (and it's black powder). The nitro express is smaller bullet, more powder, faster and smokeless.

Anshutz are all over the price range. My first competitive anshutz when I was 11 was a couple grand (thankfully I didn't have to buy it). My current I got for $125 cnd at a local gun show. She shoots like a dream though and is dirt cheap to shoot, probably my only firearm I buy ammo instead of reload my own. .22s are just so perfect for rabbit and grouse.

I'm down with 7.62s but it's just to modern for my tastes.

7.62x54R has been around since 1891, it honestly hasn't changed much since then. It's only modern in the sense that it refuses to quit even after 125 years. I hear that you can get certain items in Canada that aren't available here as well, and .22 LR isn't typically something that really lends itself to being reloaded. I'd like to get more into reloading 54R when my current projects are closer to completion.

Do most black powder cartridges use large, slow bullets? Kind of makes me think of a 12 gauge slug. I'm just not familiar with anything that isn't smokeless powder based.

Get the AUG. With the unsure political climate you may not be able to buy one in the near future. However, a .375 H&H rifle should be decently available after any hypothetical AWB 2 gets passed since they're just hunting rifles.
You are right and I've been wanting one for longer anyway honestly.

BP is mostly larger rounds and most rather "slow" by todays standards

Either way AUG fund is almost filled, I'm A: cheap B: hit fund for a last second repair for another hobby. I didn't want to miss SCUBA with my dad that weekend.

Oh and ... un effected to the fund DSGarms has a good deal on 10 packs of P mags, can never have too many. :)

So I "won" a bet. I'm getting a hipoint c9. Because I drink too much and lol no question warranty 9x21 imi conversion. I plan on some super offensive mods and pics.

9x21mm Italian (or IMI depending on the manual) is more or less a slightly lengthened 9x19mm and can be loaded to the same specs, albeit it's possible to load a heavier pill on top. Are you somewhere where 9x19mm is restricted? Conversion is just reaming a few mil deeper and plating. i would encourage the purchase of a stainless barrel for your firearm in 9x19mm and reaming that instead of modifying your OEM part. i don't remember if Hi Point chambers are plated or lined off the top of my head.

why not get a .40 S&W Hi Point and make a 9x25 Dillon out of it? or make a Hi Point race gun in .38 Super or something.

My friend who made the bet with me wanted to offend as many people as possible so we figured an Israeli round into a saturday night special tier gun would rustle the most jimmies.

If I had my say, I'd do a 10mm conversion since I have all the stuff in 10mm already.

Bought a cheapo holster for myself for "Christmas". I'll use it really rarely, so I couldn't justify spending a hundred on a nicer one. Once spring hits, and I have a day off i'm thinking of taking it up and shooting tree stumps at the family farm.

...also because I need to catch a couple raccoons fucking around in the chimney, and I absolutely don't trust those bastards, even when you go release them they'll turn on ya. For the record, if I didn't live in a residential area, and wasn't a pretty poor shot, I'd just smoke themAUGH YEAH

@Spudnik why don't you aim at the fire place whilst you have a friend stick some drain rods with a sharpened point up the chimney. You're either gonna get dead raccoons, pissed off raccoons in your line of fire or pissed off raccoons outside your house. I realize this may not sound like a good idea but I'm drunk so to me it sounds fucking perfect.

That ain't the worst idea i've heard. If I could spray those garbage pandas with Agent Orange, i'd do it.

Honestly the biggest problem is that Possums keep setting off the trap, but I don't mind them, they're such simpletons it's kinda hard to hate them.

Dude you fucking show those little shit weasels who's boss. It's your goddamn chimney not thiers. The little fuckers need to get out the easy way or the hard way. I mean shit, get on your roof and pour caustic soda down the chimney. If you're letting those motherfuckers own a piece of YOUR house then you need to grow a pair of balls or tits, whichever is appropriate for you!

LOL was editing my post during your reply. Black powder sounds fun, but right now I've been wrapped up in getting some more modern stuff together, so to speak. The Anschutz looks expensive as fuck, for a .22 LR they better be well made!

And .577 Snider reminds me of those Nitro Express rounds I've heard about. Looks like it has a lot of power. I've heard of the .577/.450 Martini-Henry, it's pretty strong in itself and looks like a necked down Snider, come to think of it.

I mostly stick to 7.62x54R for now, it's my personal favorite overall.
I've heard that shooting a Martini-Henry is not a cheap proposition. Most people fabricate their own ammo using necked-down 24 ga shells. I want one so bad, but they've shot up in price lately, and I figure most of the Nepalese cache is already picked over pretty good anyway.

LugerBB.jpg

I know BB guns are for babies, but caved in and got this Umarex Legends Luger. The toggle-lock is totally functional, and even has a magazine hold-open. Considering it was either $100 on this or $2-3000 on a real luger (or pederson) I consider it close-enough, I just couldn't justify spending that much on the real thing*sigh*

Plastic grips are a bit cheesy, but other than that it's metal, weighs a fair bit!

firearms can be an expensive hobby/profession. trust me on that. a pellet gun (B, BB, BBB, et c are pellet sizes) is pretty handy for plinking or getting rid of small pest birds like crows. just be mindful of them since they remember their enemies.

airsoft KWC compatible wood grips will fit this pellet gun with only minor fitting if you want something nicer.

The great thing about shotguns is that you don't know how to shoot with them just some buckshot fire in the general direction, you will hit and they will die. And they will never jam.

You can buy a used one for like $200-300

Forget about rifles for self defense you're gonna need to spend a couple hundred hours at the range to be proficient with one and in closed quarters they really suck compared to a shotgun (though I personally use 12 gauge slugs not buckshot for home protection)

Just look at those first five shots

You'll take down any ogre trying to stop you from taking a shit in peace

Oh and it's really worth it to buy a flashlight mount for like an extra $50 because if it's at night not only are you gonna see better but it blinds them and makes it easier to shoot them while harder for them to shoot you

If I'm going to England and buying a gun you should probably call the constables.

This is a funny Internet joke.
I live in England and I have guns. The Constables come to my house and check that I have a secure place to store them and a sensible place to use them before I'm allowed to own them. They also won't allow me to own anything I could potentially use to take over a small island. This is a concept known as 'gun control' which you yanks appear to be perturbed by.

Yeah if Obama had passed laws saying the police get to show up at your house at random and look at your guns, we'd have had a President Biden.
