Had an AK for my first semi auto rifle. It was a good deal back when I was poor. $400 and it came with 3 mags and the original mag pouch. Got the Midwest Industries claw mount and an M68 Aimpoint that I "acquired" from work since it wasn't on any equipment account and I was good to go. Sold it a few years ago since I never took it out of the safe anymore and 7.62 fuckery happened. The prices of AKs went crazy though, some idiot bought it off me for $900 which was still me lowballing everyone else on Gunbroker at the time. Bought a stripped MARS-L lower and a few other misc items to finish out that AR-15 with it. Only combloc weapon I still own is a Makarov.

Old man shouting at clouds but I remember being able to get a cherry Vz.58 with five mags, the pouch to hold them, sling and bayonet for under 700.
Fuck, really?! That godawful show Strike Back got me into those. I'd gladly take an Sa vz. 58 Tactical for even up to $900, and I don't like AKs. Definitely would have a been a range toy only, but a guy can dream.

Hell, just from watching so many high-definition go-pro videos of troops from both sides being on the receiving end of FPV and dropping drones, that now whenever I hear a drone flying around at the park it makes me want to take cover. While the sound of incoming indirect fire & small arms in these videos also gives me the shakes & palpitations, I haven't heard those sounds IRL in 20 years. But now drones are everywhere & I seriously worry for those guys.

Along with that, I really wonder where designers are going to take shotguns with that specific purpose in mind. Or are they going to stick with essentially modernized trap & game guns?

Even so, I still hear spergs insist drones are near impossible to shoot down with a shotgun due to speed/size (i.e. FPV) or altitude (mavic & matrice).

They always seem to be the types who believe shit like WW2 rifles are still best rifles, that T-55s & IS-3 would still viable in Ukraine as anything but self-propelled artillery, that drone swarms would never be a thing, etc.
:story:

Yep, modified commerical or preexisting military shotguns will be the norm. Maybe magazine fed shotguns will get more common.

LMAO a marlin is $900 at least. $1,000 is more likely.

I got mine for $1000 shipped a month ago.

MSRP on them is $1200 or more.

Even Rossi is something like $800 now....

Having looked you are correct. How did we get to the point where a 336 is $1200 MSRP? This shit is insane. I swear they were half that or less in 2017-18. They were so cheap I impulse bought one when I was just killing time downtown. I know I didn't pay more than $500 for it new.

Inflation, steel prices went way up, and Ruger is pretty fussy about QC especially on mostly steel guns these days.

Golly, can't wait to spend two thousand dollars on a tiny not-AK with next to no aftermarket support that also may or may not cycle based on how well it was converted using proprietary magazines and will burn the fuck out of my support hand after firing maybe a magazine.

Gold GOD that's insane. Also, the Vz.58 gets stupid hot after two magazines.....

Man $400 for an AK plus mags is a great deal.

I really love Idlib bullpup conversions so much, when paired with the actually pretty nice paintjobs they do the guns always look so good.

Hybrid construction SMG in Brazil, lower is very interesting as it has three pins and none of the holes are the correct position for an AR FCG (but that's irrelevant as the trigger is clearly not that of an AR.) and also an AR style safety?

Since I didn't find any specific references to this WML/battery combo on the Internet I'll post it here to beat reddit:

The Streamlight TLR-10 works with a single 16650 just fine, albeit I'm not sure exactly how much juice for the light I'm missing out on compared to 2xCR123, and I'm not sure I care since it still lights up everything I've tested against just fine. Light and laser mode functions fine as well, though in bright outside light you'd probably want laser only mode as the dot is noticeably stronger in laser only mode.

It does stick out about half an inch past the end of a pistol with a 5 inch long barrel though, it's a long boy. :story:

I'm going to headcanon the foregrip came from a relative who fought in WWII with it, so the young soldier took the foregrip into war himself. Maybe that single foregrip fought in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and will spend the rest of its useful life in the Gulf War...

Ah, imagination.

I can't decide. So I'll let you guys decide for me. Should I get a Glock 43x MOS or Glock 26 MOS? With the 26 I'm gonna get +2 mag extensions. I already have a Glock 49 and Glock 17L. With the 26 I can use the mags I have already, although its fatter so itll be harder to carry than the g43x. I'm also gonna put a holosun EPS carry on whichever I get.

from feedback to officers and agents, the 43X is highly annoying to actually shoot. unless you're going around in short shorts i'm not sure if most will notice a 43X vs a 26 in most situations. recent customers like to carry the 43X and prefer shooting the 26.

Not sure if it was just my 43x, but the only thing I hated was the slide stop/release, it was stiff as hell and required way more force to send the slide forward than any other Glock I've ever handled. I replaced it with the Vickers slide release and it's been a massive improvement. If I could do it again I wouldn't have got the MOS version since the footprint for the 43X is weird and made for shit red dots. I have an EPS carry on mine, if it wasn't for holosun releasing that, I would have probably got a non MOS slide to have it cut for an RMRCC. I still want to get around to replacing the mag catch so I can get the shield arms 15 rounders, but I've been carrying and shooting my 642UC way more often lately.

g29 gen 5

I would but there's no MOS model (yet)
My plan is to get one cut for an ACRO, since I fucking hate the fact that there are no MOS plates that work flush with the 10mm mos. The acro is about .1 inch wider than the g20(29,40) slide so it'll fit very well without much wonk. Add a kkm barrel with comp and a x300u and we're cookin with gas.

I dont like comps, everytime I shoot one theh make the gun less reliable.

True, but I'm wondering if that will be the case with 10mm, if the powah will give it the oomf to be reliable
Commercial 10mm loads are barely above 40sw spec. Only with boutique 10mm loads will you be able to get a lot of power. But you can't afford to shoot that all the time (no one can)
