The EX Skills started in the second game, not the first. The only reason to care about rank in Z1 is that you must get A once to unlock a door for an Elf.

In other words, get A on the intro stage, unlock the door, ranks are now irrelevant. Unless of course you insist on specifically unlocking Jackson on Hard Mode, which adds the "overall have A rank" requirement if I recall.

The first Zero game is one of those "go look around and grind" kind of games, which is kind of odd for an action/platformer. This is one of the reasons you have to level up Zero's weapons. Every map is connected in this game like in Metroid. The developers wanted players to explore the areas, find those crystal currency things, find cyber elves, and level up their weapons. If you just go to the next stage like in a regular Megaman game you will be at a pretty heavy disadvantage against the bosses.
What they probably intended was for players to use the cyber elves their first playthroughs. Then if you want a challenge, try and beat the game without using any elves while still leveling them all up, then you get Michael Jackson to play with you.

not a single game in the zero/zx games did their metroidvania elements correctly, and i hope if there's a mega man metroidvania now it can take some lessons from hollow knight and a few other recent great titles.

so, i can't remember exactly, and i'm having trouble sourcing the lore probably because some of it is written in ancient moon runes, legends was supposed to take place in either 7XXX or 9XXX right?

The guy behind the fangame Mega Man Perfect Blue is having an extremely normal reaction to Trump's popular vote victory.

There's a joke with the name Perfect Blue somewhere.

Crossposting from Happenings, showing the soft and tender side of a fandom of games starring a blue robot that's all about peace.

At the rate they're going, this guy will see X's victory fist pump as a pro-Trump dogwhistle.

The feeling is mutual tbh.

So the Ruby MegaMan series from the 90s finally got released (at least the first season) in Japan.

They're taking it pretty well.

I'm surprised Japan know about that slapping meme, I wonder how much meme crossover there is between us.

Oh hey it's deko, Sigma fan extraordinaire.

I was just coming here to post an oddly endearing exchange of him asking what the deal was with Wily's accent, and having the Einstein connection explained to him.

You would think longtime fans from the franchise's origin country would know!

Agreed

I'm just surprised they are liking it. I loved it as a kid, but my god it's pure slow cooked ham. Japanese ham is very different to American ham, though I imagine that's why they find it fresh and fun.

And that's just sweet.

it kinda makes me happy he doesn't know. he was more innocent. glad that we've been seeing more positive stuff in the community lately as a whole. the x dive people are gonna add that weird rockman that has a fur coat to the game, i'm interested to see how he'll play.

They released Blade Armor from X6 on X6's Japanese release date, but pretty much only did it because an X6 nut on Discord started it up. It was a pretty good mod.

I do not know if there's anyone as crazy for XOver doing it for Over-1.

Did they release the Shadow Armor? Shadow Armor is best armor and nobody can convince me otherwise. I rush through X6 just to play the whole game with the Shadow Armor.

Back in the 2000si t was pretty much nearly 1 to 1 back and forth on a lot of memes, sht kinda split up a little during the 2010s when everything got pozzed though. Could have sworn there were some ruby spears megaman memes from JP guys back n the day, but they're definitely gonna be on the uptick again now.

Yeah you'd think wily literally being named and visually based on Albert einstein would be like common knowledge from supposed "super fans" lmao.

I can't remember was the extremely schizophrenic shit like the lion men episode relegated to season 2 or was it evenly split between seasons in terms of schizo tone?
