I don't remember any Mega Man game having bad music. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but none come to mind.

The worst I can generally say about Mega Man soundtracks are the GBA titles sound pretty raw. Some people like the GBA's sound profile, I don't. I feel like the digital crunch worked in Battle Network's favor because of the techy themes of the game, but the MMZ series soundtrack is crunchy.

The compositions themselves aren't bad, but the compression absolutely butchers them. It's a shame Capcom didn't include the Mythos remix tracks in the recent MMZ collection as a soundtrack toggle, even though Mythos was released along side the Nintendo DS Zero Collection.

Eh, I don't mind it. I think it gives GBA some personality, personally. It's an old fart opinion though as a kid who grew up with GBA, I'm sure it bothers everyone else. Still, yeah, they should've included more options in the collections.

The Zero series does have quite an underrated soundtrack imo.

Heck, it’s just one of the reasons why I love that series as much as the X series. Plus, it is much more focused in design and has the best action out of the whole franchise.

Sure, the story can get a bit overly-complicated, but at the end of the day, it is still engaging.
The Zero series is so good, definitely way more technically demanding than the rest of the series though (alongside ZX lol)

I put a lot of hours on my GBA, but the real gamechanger was the GBA SP. Built-in rechargeable battery instead of hunting for loose batteries around the house? Hell yeah. Built in backlight? About fucking time. My old blue SP still works to this day and I still use it every now and again for nostalgia's sake. I can't even fathom how many hours I put on that thing between Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, the Battle Network series, and Advanced Wars with friends.

I like it with some music more than others. I just used those two as an example because I enjoy them both, but the music clicks for me in different ways. The catchy energetic electronic melody loops work really well with the game's atmosphere in Battle Network, but I don't feel like the GBA's sound hardware was quite robust enough for what they wanted to do with the soundtrack.

That's just my autistic take anyways. Even the "worst" of Mega Man soundtracks are still leagues better than a lot of games.

I love the SNES soundtrack for X3, but PS1 is mostly terrible to me. I'm baffled to how whoever arranged that version took rock/metal sounding tracks and made them sound like mexican football music, though I do like the rendition of Blizzard Buffalo's theme, that's the only one I like.

BB's theme is the one that has a jazz feel to it on PS1 right?

eta: little synthier than I remembered it but yeah. i still prefer the SNES version, but this song lent itself to the weird style of remixes. they feel similar but less bombastic in comparison to the x4-x6 songs.

Claiming MM Zero is technically demanding is like claiming Dark Souls 1 is demanding based on a Soul Level 1 Darkwraith run. It leaves out some very crucial context.

technically demanding if you want to 100% them, maybe? or if you want to collect every boss ability, even though half of them are useless.

That would only apply to 2 and 3, though. 4 has the weather system, and you only need A once in 1.

MMZ being difficult is kind of a meme outside of silly minigame requirements.

1 is difficult for people who may not be that great at mega man games because if you continue in a level it just removes the level from the list, and i'm sure plenty of people get pissed at that and walk away. i agree the zero games themselves aren't hard, they are some of the easiest in the series if you use cyberelves like they were intended. mega man as a series itself is full of elitists who will tell you that unless you buster duel no armor no dash no death no mechaniloid kills no damage you didn't beat the game.

See I fully agree, but almost nobody who does that seems to think it's the default state of the game for any other subseries. Then again, I avoid those types as a rule.

Jumping and shooting is serious business apparently.

Was dicking around on youtube and find that some one has been making these fun little Mega Man X shorts about what happened to the boss after beating defeated from the first game.

The Sting Chameleon one is pretty good

while the latest shows how off putting the human looking repoids would be

Lol why bother collecting such thrilling items such as "damage absorber" which is the equivalent of holding a paper plate in front of you?

ask x8, that game is retarded with how much it's asking me to collect. it's there to justify the new game plus, but the ultimate armor, black zero and white axl already do that.

Wasn't the first Zero game specifically tuned hard for the hardcore fans that wanted a challenge. Think the second Mario bros game on the NES that we never got.

I know I'm kinda bad at action games but there's no way people don't think these are hard...

Mario 2 is plain busted and probably is what inspired that kaizo shit. Worst part is the wind, it makes no sense.

Let me explain using Z1.

To unlock the Elf Jackson, you have to beat the game without using any Elf and while doing the unholy grind to raise them all.

Then, to unlock Ultimate Mode, do NG+ with Jackson and use every Elf, which you already have. This second run will be piss easy.

The thing that makes Z1 "hard" is if you care enough to unlock Jackson. Many Elves are permanently missable.

use cyber elves. they are a massive help. ignore faggots on the internet insisting you need to get high ranks on anything. fuck 'em.

Kind of.

Basically it was supposed to be a game you play/grind the hell at to perfect it. Until then the player had the choice to use the cyber elves to make the game as easy as they needed it.

The problem was locking moves from defeating bosses behind getting a high rank in the level. It would have been fine to have getting a S rank a extra flashy version but most people just bang their head against the wall going for A/S rank the first time.
