All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

A poll came out yesterday showing trump ahead by only one point in Alaska and according to some republican insiders he isn't doing enough in Arizona to retain the state. There's also reports that he's pulling money out of several battleground states.

I dont think Trump's trying to win anymore.

Trump's going to lose. But instead of giving money to literally any good cause, they've given money to a group that doesn't need it.

It's more or less a gesture to save face, use a hashtag like #NotAllDemocrats, and so on. I doubt it's entirely altruistic on the Democrats' side.

I think it's colossally shitty that this happened in general, because it has the potential to inspire copycats on both sides and further proves this election is fucked up beyond belief. The very last thing this country needs is idiots firebombing each other like this.

Eh, not really helpful considering North Carolina is considered a lock for Clinton at this point.

A 3 point lead is hardly a lock. What matters in the last few weeks is getting out the vote. Clinton has a lot of offices and is actively working to get people off of their asses to vote. Trump is, well... not doing that. That may be where the real blowout comes from.

Right now, control of Congress is shaping up to be the more interesting run. The Democrats will pick up a good dozen seats in the House, and at least two seats in the Senate, maybe as much as six or seven. Five will give them control of the Senate, four with a Clinton victory, since ties are broken by the VP.

lol the rift is real

Mike Pence said Sunday that Republicans would accept the results of thepresidential election and that Donald Trump’s claims that the race has been rigged referred to a biased news media and not elections officials.

But within hours of Pence’s comments, Trump took to Twitter to partly disagree with his running mate, as he has several times in recent days.

Trump wrote, without providing any evidence, that “many polling places” were trying to tilt the Nov. 8 election to his opponent, Democratic nomineeHillary Clinton.

“The election is absolutely being rigged by the dishonest and distorted media pushing Crooked Hillary - but also at many polling places – SAD,” Trump tweeted.

Pressed on the issue on two Sunday TV talk shows, Pence said he and Trump would not contest the election results if Clinton won.

“We will absolutely accept the results of the election,” Pence told Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

The UK should worry about it's own shit country instead of nosying in on US politics whether to . Didn't during Brexit many UK located people complain about the international input on Brexit (particularly American)?

Maybe talking about it occasionally and reporting on big news concerning the election but hosting panels and interviewing civilians?
It was on a weekly show which has a panel of mostly politicians where the audience can field questions.

Trump, from what I can tell, is resting on the laurels of the supporters he already has and is instead going off-script to whine about SNL hurting his feefees, and deflect allegations of sexual harassment, among other things.

But you're right, Congress is probably the more important race if nothing else. Because no matter who we get as President, a Congress that leans heavily towards the opposite side of the President will be able to roadblock practically anything they do. Just look at what's happened the last 8 years with Obama and the Republican-dominated Congress.

The interesting part is whether or not the Trump-supporting voters will follow through on their threats to not vote for the Republican candidates who've opposed Trump. I wonder if they realize casting a spite vote for a Democrat will only make things worse for the country if Trump becomes President.

Everything about American politcs is going to get much, much worse before it gets any better. Anything that breaks narrative should be encouraged, within reason of course.

It's a logical result of casting your political enemies as evil beyond redemption. Great for TV ratings, lousy for a functional democracy.

Right now the bet I'm trying to find a taker on is Will Donald Trump Give a Concession Speech on Election Night? The election result is priced into this since obviously if he wins he won't give any such speech, but given that he's not going to win the bet is pretty much purely about his ego.

So what are the odds? I put it at 60% he makes a speech, 40% he doesn't for at least 24 hours.

As far as I'm concerned, the state and local levels are the reals fights to look out for - Regardless of who wins big, we need a Congress that will, most importantly... DO SOMETHING. America can't afford another do-nothing Congress. And that's fact.

State and local you could make an argument for but with Congress anymore you almost need a super majority to get anything done if the president is the opposite of who is controlling congress. The opposition is going to do their best to stall and kill bills and if the president is of the opposing party of the congressional majority he'll just veto everything.

That's why Congress hasn't done anything for a long time. When Obeme got in he spent a large chunk of time pushing through the healthcare bill which eventually lost him the congress afterwards and since then it has been deadlocked. When Democrats would do something it would get blocked by Republicans and when a bill would eventually get passed it would have something from the Republicans in it the President wouldn't like so he'd veto it.
