Funny enough, it was working for Trump, too. While Hillary was going off on Pepe and the Alt-Right, Trump's ratings began to rise and rise, even managed to slightly surpass Hillary for a second.
 
They both did horrible and didn't appeal to anybody outside of their core supporters. The rest of America, the ones they need to convince, were all at home drinking heavily and dwelling on the sorry state of American democracy. and wondering out loud whether or not they should buy a ticket to Ireland or Costa Rica
 
The momentum is back in Trump's corner. A few more bad news for Clinton and another debate blowout and Daddy will walk in the White House riding Rosie o'Donnell

Did he? I tried tuning in, but he was in a middle of a rant and quickly got bored.
 
Debate thought:
Hillary could have ended this tonight but fell short. Sounded very weak and defensive on emails. Generally didn't press Trump as hard as first debate.
Trump could have annihilated his campaign tonight and didn't. He needed to not shit his pants live on stage and succeeded. Trouble is he needed to win BIGLY tonight to pull his campaign out of free fall and didn't. A tie favors the person currently winning.

Overall a moderate Hillary win, especially with women (53%+ of the electorate). Trump got some licks in but also stumbled and sounded incoherent a lot. Lot of his trademark word salad. Scientific polling bears that out.

Side note: ignore unscreened snap polls. Pol rushes them. The drudge report poll is slightly less predictive than the scrawling on the subway station bathroom wall.
 
That is why I don't get fooled by "X is done" speculation. This election is going to the wire. Period.

I felt Trump had a strong debate. His major issues are his penchant for rambling (seemed more contained this time than in the first debate) and going off-topic on some issues. I felt he went for the jugular at times and a lot of the debate played right into his wheelhouse.

Clinton was pretty weak tonight. I felt like she was constantly running herself into corners and getting caught in a bunch of misstatements. She seemed like she would just go to keywords most of the time (The children! REEEEEEEESSIA! MUH WYMMENZ AND PAID SENATOR TENURESHIP!) and not really discuss things.

The debate saved Trump after a black eye in the past few days. Clinton blew her chance to finish it.

Trump has surged over Hillary in quite a few occasions. In the long term Hillary has held a lead longer, but all it takes is one swing in either candidate's favor when people go to the polls.

I saw many comments from Clinton supporters expressing concern over Trump assaulting (and in one comment, raping) Hillary on stage at the debate, saying they feared for her safety.

Trump's mere appearance on stage at a scheduled event made these guys shit their pants in fear. I wonder if they even leave their houses given what scares them.
