All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Little power level:
I work as the aide to a politician (state level, not federal). I have run two campaigns, one successful, one not. I've been following elections for decades.
I have never seen a candidate destroy his own campaign as comprehensively as Trump has in the past two weeks. This implosion is historic. It's going to be taught in schools the same way the Titanic is taught to shipbuilders and the Great Depression is taught to economics undergrads. He was always a bit of a long shot because the electoral map heavily favors Democrats due to demographic change, but with Hillary being the second-most unpopular person ever nominated, it should have been close. It won't be close now. I'd be shocked if he gets more than 200 electoral votes.

I try to avoid putting my personal views in play, the same way an architect can't worry about what the building he's designing will be used for. I focus on the mechanics of campaigning and the nuts and bolts of policy. For the record, I voted for Bernie, and since I don't live in a swing state my vote doesn't matter. But seriously, Trump is done.

This is an absolutely shocking collapse, and it also represents (and this may not be immediately apparent) and incredible dereliction of duty on the part of the Republican party. Candidates are supposed to be vetted inside and out for months before they get the nomination exactly to avoid this kind of thing happening. If you were writing some code that would make or break your career for the next four years and be associated with you for the rest of your life, would you just send it to your boss without debugging it? Yet that's what they did. Jeb Bush's cousin knew about this footage for years and said nothing. Nobody thought to talk to Access Hollywood, or NBC, and review some of this footage to see if there was anything dangerous in it? Even after he was nominated, they couldn't leak this stuff back in May when nobody was paying attention and nobody cared?

Absolute dereliction of duty. Incompetence on a level I've never seen. We live in interesting times.

And this is why Hillary doesn't allow phones on people when she is privately discussing things with her team.

This is an absolutely shocking collapse, and it also represents (and this may not be immediately apparent) and incredible dereliction of duty on the part of the Republican party.

The lack of vetting inside and out top to bottom is why people like him, some people are sick of ultra PC politics where a candidate doesn't even have their own thoughts, they are simply a puppet of the party, the corporate donors, and the lobby groups. Its why he got the nomination, because the establishment thought no one like that had a chance in hell. But making fun of him constantly gave him exposure,. And then he got popular, because many people were just happy about the salt he caused these self described "journalists" and "intellectuals" And then it was too late for them to get rid of him.

Even if he is a Billionaire Straight White Male who runs a pageant, he still isn't and never will be in the "in group" that career politicians and corporate executives are in. The fact his net value is falling, the MSM tars him at every opportunity, they have to dig up tapes from 10 years ago, the tax deal, the republicans hating him but begrudgingly supporting him otherwise their voter base would implode. They hate him, they all hate his guts.

And if they all hate him, that can only be a good thing in my books. Because when you look at Hillarys campaign the cronyism and money being thrown around is ludicrous. When GW Bush is supporting her, it just shows how incestuous things are.

Listening to the video, it sounded very Opie & Anthony/Howard Stern-esque. Like, the dude's not going around literally grabbing women by the pussy, it's facetious to be funny in a grim way.

That being said, when you're running for president, it doesn't sound good to Joe and Jane Voter. The only silver lining I can see to this is that the "Family Values" sub-element of the GOP is finally exposed as a hypocritical, pandering fraud and we can finally start burning them out like a cancer before 2020.

While I'm on the topic of dereliction of duty thing, someone at the Trump campaign needs to sit down with Julian Assange. I have no doubt some of the stuff he leaked is real, but when you leak easily disprovable fakes alongside real stuff, it completely undermines your shit. And before you leak something, maybe you read it first to make sure it says what you think it says? That's how we get stuff like "Pay to Play;" they didn't read it closely and claimed they leaked personal Hillary files, including one that said "Pay to Play," except it turned out they were DCCC files and "Pay to Play" was a file of opposition research on a couple of Republican congressmen, who were no doubt grateful that Wikileaks aired their dirty laundry publicly.

This is leaks 101, people. It's not hard. People figured this shit out decades ago. Get with the program. Although Assange might be uncontrollable; this portrait of him by his autobiography ghostwriter is fascinating: http://www.lrb.co.uk/v36/n05/andrew-ohagan/ghosting

He's an unbalanced narcissist, and the author of that piece is probably more sympathetic to him than anyone else in the world right now.

What easily disprovable fakes did wikileaks drop? I'm not challenging you, I just don't know.

Stuff like the "bucket of losers" speech. In the past, people have intentionally submitted fake content to Wikileaks to see if they'll publish without verifying. People like Malcolm Nance, a navy cryptologist with a 35+ year career, calling out the Podesta leaks as partially forged. I don't doubt there's some true stuff in there, and I'm sure the real speeches are heinous or she would have authorized a leak herself, but when you mix in fake with real you lose credibility.

Up here in NY, Trump's gotten surprisingly broad support from people. It's not hard to see why, either.

Trump Voterbase: You should vote for Trump because it scares the status quo and because he's talking about bringing manufacturing back to the USA.

Hillary Voterbase: IF YOU DON'T VOTE FOR HILLARY YOU ARE CONDEMNING THIS COUNTRY TO ETERNAL FIRE. TRUMP WILL NUKE EVERYTHING AND REDUCE WOMEN TO CHATTEL AND ALSO HE'S REALLY RACIST. ALSO HILLARY IS TOTALLY GOING TO WIN BY DEFAULT SO YOU SHOULD GO WITH THE WINNING TEAM. IGNORE ALL ONLINE POLLING THAT SUGGESTS ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT WE TELL YOU. CONSUME. OBEY.

If you're like me, and you like to research this shit, this is the sort of thing that makes you want to throw a chair. I can barely get any info on Trump outside of independent sites because fucking everything is a 24/7 chorus of how western civilization as we know it is doomed if Trump gets in. I actually had a Hillary supporter at work tell me I'm going to be responsible for destroying the country if I vote third party, too, just in case the anti-Trump lunacy on its lonesome wasn't crazy enough.

As a particularly hilarious Hillary supporter told my dedicated shitposting Twitter over the prospect of voting third-party:

Best Tweet In Months said:
principles are going to get us killed. Grow up and do the right thing. Not the noble/stupid thing

Kiwis, you have no idea how many people I personally know who've voted solid Democrat their entire lives are planning to vote Trump this one election just because the Hillary camp seems to be completely fucking insane and getting worse.

I am no fan of Trump and I don't think I even need to explain that, but that lolsuit is a complete joke and has all the indicia of a delusional lunatic suit.

Normally I would agree with you but this isn't the first time he's been accused of rape. After these tapes leaked I'm more and more included to believe he hits on every female who moves, including kids.

This is a guy who basically said he would date (fuck) his daughter if he could after all. Surprised he didn't get more flack for that.

Like Chris saying that having incest thoughts about mother is "normal".
Edit: Not really.

The only people who are offended at Trumps comments are

1) women who have no idea what men are like
2) men who are so beta they never played sports or drank around with the boys and their only friends were just like them
3) journalists (see points 1 and 2)

This is hilarious nothing especially you take in account it's 'REEE he said lewd things' versus Bill Clinton being a serial rapists who has said much worse things and Hillary Clinton who helped him cover those rapes intimidate witnesses and as an attorney got a rapist off by calling the 14 year old victim a slut who seduced him and then laughed about how much she got one over the judge on tape

Yeah, don't guys say shit like this frequently? On top of that he said it 20 years ago.
Remember when the most disgusting sexist thing said by a GOP presidential candidate in an election years was "binders full of women"
