All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Uh oh, the alt-right hacker known as 4chan has manipulated those online polls. It's not like CNN manipulated their own poll or anything.

Seriously though, they are taking a /pol/ thread waaaaay to seriously. I thought these guys were pathetic angry manchild who lived in their mom's basement? Now they're elite hackers who manipulate polls.

The MSM and modern world at large has always failed to understand, and will likely continue to fail to understand for the foreseeable decade, that people who post memes on the internet are just shithead kids and not a super elite team of Russian cybuh hackahs. I don't know what it is. They just can't fathom that someone out there might have a more intuitive understanding of the internet than "blasted machine God, compute Clinton's numbers correctly!"

The most dangerous conspiracy theory of 2016

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/2016-election-conspiracy-theory-rigged-228807

In a presidential campaign consumed by conspiracy theories, the most dangerous one looming over these final six weeks isn’t about President Barack Obama’s birthplace or whether Hillary Clinton is sick with more than pneumonia.

It’s the suggestion that the election itself won't be on the up and up.

Trump and his group have done most of this, but I won't pretend Clinton is blameless. However, this is skirting the edges of sedition.

Speaking in July to Breitbart, Stone elaborated on why Trump should keep making the case about a rigged election. “He needs to say for example, today would be a perfect example: ‘I am leading in Florida. The polls all show it. If I lose Florida, we will know that there’s voter fraud. If there’s voter fraud, this election will be illegitimate, the election of the winner will be illegitimate, we will have a constitutional crisis, widespread civil disobedience, and the government will no longer be the government,”

So look's like Trump's gonna lose Florida after all.

Now, I'm of the personal opinion that the US embargo on Cuba was fucking stupid to begin with, so if people violate it, hey, fine. Cuban-Americans don't play that game however. Though I do have to laugh at the irony of the Republican nominee for president getting red baited by the media.

Yeah this won't go well with older Cubans who have traditionally voted Republican because of them sticking it to Castro.

Which is going to go over really well overall as soon as the latest issue of Newsweek comes out.

Nothing like some light treason to spice up an election.

That looks like a hoax to me. You know one of those fake sensational newspapers that get goofed in all US cartoons and some tv series.

Mind, this makes Trump an even nicer guy! He is supporting the poor South America against imperialist evil! Well was he when El Presidente needed money to fund the childhood museum that Penultimo wanted to build?

It's real.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/pol...iness-communist-cuba-report-article-1.2810972

The "Castro Connection" story claims Trump spent at least $68,000 in 1998 for a business foray into Cuba — even though any corporate activity in the Caribbean country was completely illegal without government approval at the time.

And technically treason.

And believe me a lot of Cubans are going to be pissed, they don't take lightly to supporting the regime that drove them out of their own country.

Those are some better links, thanks.

I'm not surprised Americans hate Castro. But than again I would have been surprised if the cubans in USA would have voted for "build a wall" Trump at any point. It may sway some of the undecideds though to not vote for him.

I doubt it would have any effect on the alt-right/alt-white support though. Those guys like dictators and dislike the federal goverment. Can't blame them for that though.

Cubans (especially the older ones) have been a very strong Republican voting bloc in Florida since the Cold War. They're a key demographic in Florida. Theyre also unique that theyre one of the few kinds of people that if a Cuban sets foot on American soil they are granted immediate American citizenship.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_Adjustment_Act

A short overview of their politics.

Cuban Americans have tended to be more Republican than other Hispanic groups. The failed Bay of Pigs invasion, and its association with John F. Kennedy, left many Cubans distrustful of the Democratic Party.[36][page needed] Many Cuban Americans believe that Kennedy deliberately denied Cuban exiles air support, leading to a rout by Castro forces. The trauma of this event has led to speculation about possible Cuban-American involvement in the assassination of President Kennedy. Cuban exiles began an alliance with the Republic Party of Florida. In Florida, Cuban-American congressmen have tended to be Republican, beginning with Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. The presence of Cubans in the Republican Party was highlighted by the 2016 presidential race, which featured U.S. Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio as prominent candidates, both of whom are of Cuban descent. But in New Jersey, another state with many Cuban Americans, Cuban-American congressman have tended to be Democrats, for example Representative Albio Sires. Ronald Reagan is particularly popular in the Cuban exile community (there is a street in Miami named for Reagan).[citation needed]. And George W. Bush received 75 and 78 percent (in 2000 and 2004 respectively) of the Cuban-American vote. The Cuban-American lobby has also lobbied both parties on causes important to Cuban Americans.

In recent years, the Cuban-American vote has become more contested between the parties. In the 2008 presidential election, Democrat Barack Obama received 47% of the Cuban-American vote in Florida.[37] According to Bendixen's exit polls, 84% of Miami-Dade Cuban-American voters 65 or older backed McCain, while 55% of those 29 or younger backed Obama.[38] In 2012, Barack Obama received 49 percent of the Cuban-American vote in Florida, compared to 47 percent for Mitt Romney according to Edison Research exits polls.[39] By the spring of 2014, this increasing trend among Cuban-American voters having a preference for Democratic Party candidates increased particularly for younger voters aged 18–49, increasing to some 56% for the younger voter demographic, versus Cuban-American voters over 50 years of age having just a 39% preference for Democratic candidates.[40]

Cuban American voters are generally fairly conservative, and have been one of the groups most strongly in favour of keeping the embargo in place.
They are unlikely to look kindly upon a presidential candidate who breached it.

On the other hand, Clinton wants to continue Obama's policy of ending the embargo, so...

Thank you both, as an eastern european I did not knew that Cubans were immediately US-ified upon entry, nor that they would be so conservative.

But if both parties are pro-Castro, than I'm not sure what they can do except go third candidate or not vote out of spite.

Mind, of course I can see why both parties would be interested in buttering up Cuba:
Trump: Good russian relations and trade improvements.
Clinton: Maybe trying to sway Cuba from Russia to the US to spite the Putin.

I wouldn't say that they're pro-Castro. The embargo has been criticized by more left-leaning elements in the USA as an outdated remnant of the Cold War that hurts Cuban citizens, while right leaning elements have seen the embargo as a necessary thing to push against the Castro regime which has been proven to been a detriment to humans rights.

Among younger Cubans there is more support for the ending of the embargo, but overall where Cubans vote in this election is very, very important especially in a state like Florida.

The Embargo's a hideously stupid creation which has done less than nothing to stop Cuba's dictatorship, but Trump still deserves to be fucked in the ass for violating it for the rank hypocrisy alone. The "Law and Order" hard-nose with no use for any law which he doesn't feel like obeying is the most contemptible creature on Earth.

The Clinton Administration was the one that took the Embargo from executive order to law after their fuckups led to Havana blowing up a passanger plane distributing anti-Castro leaflets.

It's a credit to his depravity Trump has managed to surpass the Clintons own Cuban disaster.

I know Trump has no plan to defeat ISIS, but what is Clinton's plan other than torpedoing cooperation with the Russians in Syria? She going to keep backing the moderate beheaders of the FSA and ignoring the YPG Kurds to keep the Turks on board?

Yeah on one hand Trump allegedly spent $68k investigating business in Cuba almost 20 years ago. on the other hand under Clinton and Obama they stopped the embargo and normalized relations with Cuba for literally no good reason

No way this story sways Republican Cubans to vote for Clinton or Johnson (who is just as bad on Cuba)

See that's a good example of the mental illness that is Trump Derangement Syndrome

Trump allegedly spent $68k investigating doing business with Cuba. Clinton got two plane blown up and people died. Somehow what Trump did is worse and "depraved".

Unbelievable

People expect that sort of thing from political dynasties though.

Trump doesn't have that same level of social insulation, because he's never been part of the ruling elite - he's an outsider who's generally regarded as being a gauche pretender.

The whole "who's more evil" debate is a bit pointless either way - neither of them would qualify as decent human beings in any kind of civilised circles - the US has effectively cornered itself into having to decide between CWC and ADF for leadership.

I'm still entirely unsure if they're serious when they say this shit.

People need to stop saying this. Trump's been hanging out solely with politicians and rich people for pretty much his entire life. He doesn't associate with the proles and anybody who thinks he does is naive.

Clinton went to his fucking wedding for god's sake, that sound like a regular guy? He's been involved with politics to varying degrees for decades also.

He's a billionaire. He has a crude, unfiltered language though so that makes him look like one of us plebeians.

I didn't say he has no association with these people, I said he's a political outsider. He does not rule in the political sense, ergo his social stances are going to be different. He might think he's got political throw-weight, but until this election came up he'd never had the kind of clout required to effect any serious change without throwing serious money at it.
