A white guy of modest means would not be Secretary of State and even be able to move official government email to his own private server. Because he wouldn't be Secretary of State.

The way top secret works in the US is that there are a million of little peons that are in big shit if they misstep by a inch. That wouldn't be able to make a mistake that big, but are screwed with any minor mistake that they are capable of.

I think it's also worth mentioning that anyone who has held the office of Secretary of State, or any office of a similar magnitude, is going to have a much more top-notch legal team on their side than most others.

Powerful people getting lighter, to no sentences, on actions that would land the average person with some sort of fine or probation tend to be less due to corruption or being, 'above the law,' as much as it's the mundane answer that they have enough wealth to fund a skilled team of lawyers, one that makes a successful case against them significantly harder. But that answer doesn't play to a sense of mortal outrage quite the same.

Not really. People being lax about securing classified documents or taking shit home to work on is a thing that happens more often than you'd think. Usually they get chewed out for it. To rise to the level a indictable offense, they'd need clear proof that she had criminal intent to deliberately disseminate the stuff to foreign nations. As much as I dislike Hillary and agree that she was deeply irresponsible, this just isn't a situation where people go to jail.
 
The worst thing that would happen to anyone who did what Hillary did would be loss of security clearances and termination from the job. As I said, as she doesn't work for us anymore, we can't fire her, and she doesn't have/need security clearance either, so.

I think she pretty clearly had the requisite state of mind to be breaking the law she was accused of, at least in my personal opinion. But Comey, for all his huffing and puffing, admitted "no reasonable prosecutor" would bring such a case, and I agree with that assessment too. Anyone who thought she would ever be prosecuted for this is a fool.
 
I feel Comey did the best he could under the circumstances.

He made it very clear that HRC was totally guilty then he shifted blame away from his FBI and onto the justice system by saying no one would take the case.

I'll give him points for at least trying to torpedo HRC as best he could given the no doubt immense pressures applied to him to find a no fault recommendation.

Nothing aside from an successful assassin will stop HRC from becoming president now. However given that Trump is the alternative I can only hope the attempt happens sooner rather then later so the Dems can scrape up a better candidate.

Murder suicide pact between the two is our best hope. It's frankly amazing how both the Dems and GOP managed to choose the single worst possible candidates.

I mean it's entirely because the only people who will vote in primaries are the ones with the most "hard held" beliefs in the party line, which means getting a moderate with an actual brain in is patently impossible unless it happens by sheer accident.

This sort of thing reminds me of high school with the buffoons that did jack shit and whined about how hard everything was (but did nothing to meet that hard work) and the people that weren't in the best of circumstances but tried their best, worked hard and sought help when they needed it.

I was able to converse with one of these bunches--the other was not interested in talking, just bitching. You can guess which was which.
