All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Thing is, pretty much every government in the history of human civilization has been controlled by the wealthy, either directly or indirectly. It's not limited to America.

While that is true, what I mean is that nowhere is this more blatant in the modern Western World than America. The Lobbying in Congress is out of control, Congress members leave office and immediately reenter as employees of corporations who they've shilled for. But I still agree that this problem is endemic in the West, not just the US

If America goes down, the rest of the world falls with us, ya commie.

Eh, can't deny that really. Call me a commie if you like, but I am still attached to reality so I know we're all fucked if America were to collapse.

Eh, I agree with all your points about Western democracy being rife with corruption and unfair corporate interests, but I gotta have some pride in 'Murica. Pinko scum.

It's the corporate side of things that's the main thing IMO. Your Congress is bankrolled by the rich, those who should be governed are the ones governing and the interests of the people are thrown aside in favor of deregulating anything that might prevent the corps from making even more profit. Any attempt at changing that status quo will be impossible, because of the aforementioned Congress.

America has nothing to be proud of because, in spite of its insistence on forcing democracy on third world states that fail miserably, its own democracy has crashed and burned in the meantime.

America has nothing to be proud of because, despite being a supposed champion of rights, allows American corporations to fuck everyone in the country, and when they can't they go to third world countries and pay the people there even less.

Now, I don't hate you Americans. Not at all, your country has several features that I adore and your entrepreneurial spirit is truly inspiring. But dear god, you need to hang your Legislature out to dry and while your at it, string up their big business backers with them.

TLDR: None of your candidates will fix this and you are all fucked.

And what magical fairyland do you come from where the rich have no influence in politics? Is the lollipop Guild hiring?

We should be more like Venezuela - taking to the streets and fighting back like we mean it, right? If that's what you're saying, I can agree with you. Too bad not enough Americans are actually brave or inspired enough to do that around here - or desperate, angry, educated (as in smart), motivated... Yeah - I've always felt a little revolt goes a long way when it has meaning, after all. And the time to do so has more than passed, already, if you ask me.

I would be lying if I didn't say that part of me hopes those Bernie supporting manchildren throw a major shitfit and try to turn DNC 2016 into a repeat of DNC 1968

Cross post from the Orlando shooting thread:

Hillary Clinton refuses to acknowledge radical Islam because "it plays into ISIS's hands."

Hillary Clinton on Monday said she will not “demonize” the religion of Islam by using the specific phrase “radical Islam” when discussing the Orlando nightclub massacre after calls from Donald Trump to do so.

Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, responded to Trump’s criticism following Sunday’s deadly mass shooting at Pulse Orlando during a telephone interview with NBC’s Today show.

“In my perspective, it matters what we do, not what we say,” Clinton said. “To me, radical jihadism, radical Islamism, I think they mean the same thing. I’m happy to say either, but that’s not the point.”

“I’m not going to demonize … and declare war on an entire religion,” she added. “That’s just plain dangerous and it plays into ISIS’s hands.”

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, had slammed both Clinton and President Barack Obama for being “weak” for failing to describe the shooting as an act of “radical Islam.”

“In his remarks today, President Obama disgracefully refused to even say the words ‘Radical Islam’. For that reason alone, he should step down,” Trump said in a statement Sunday. “If Hillary Clinton, after this attack, still cannot say the two words ‘Radical Islam’ she should get out of this race for the Presidency.”

In a Today interview on Monday, the mogul again renewed his call for a ban on all Muslims entering the U.S. and reiterated his criticism against American leaders. “It’s insulting to our country that Obama doesn’t use the term radical Islamic terrorism,” Trump said. “He’s not addressing the issue, he’s not calling it what it is—radical Islamic terrorism.”

Clinton also pushed for gun control Monday in a separate interview with CNN’s New Day. Authorities say Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen used a handgun and an assault-type rifle during his attack.

“Yes, there is a right for law-abiding, responsible Americans to own guns. And yes, there are reasonable common-sense measures to try to keep people safe from guns,” Clinton said. “We’ve got to figure out the best way to move forward on that.”

Both Clinton and Trump are expected to address the shooting in separate addresses Monday.

That's it. She and Obama are literally refusing to acknowledge that Islamic extremism motivated this attack because it's not politically correct.

And people wonder why Donald Trump continues to be popular. The guy's a moron but at least he's not afraid to call a spade a spade.

If a couple years ago, someone said "Donald Trump needs to be president or else gays will be massacred" it wouldn't have made any sense. But now it's the truth. It's funny how things change.

I don't think that Trump has the right amount of experience to run a country, but Clinton refusing to even acknowledge that radical Islam played a role in the shooting is... not comforting, to say the least.

Hillary Clinton only gives a shit about Hillary Clinton. I still cannot fathom why women and minorites support her, yet she's probably the worst possible candidate for these people.

She would sell them to the glue factory if it meant a few extra bucks in her pocket.
