All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Let's just preemptively change it to "Trump wins general election by landslide, Hillary sent to the penitentiary, Bernie dead from sudden stroke"

Trump University and Whitewater scandal. These two are peas in a scamming, petty, political pod.

Proposed new thread subtitle: Hilary Slowly but Surely Morphs into Donald for the General Election
A vortex from Hell will from during the final debate. Trump and Hilary will fuse into a single monster. Third parties will get a total of 2% of the vote as the fusion is voted in. Democrats and Republicans scold third party voters as wasteing their votes.

tbh fam I think you need to send Cruz off to prison too, since he'll probably follow in his father's foot steps and assassinate President Trump if not being raped and murdered in prison.

I think that there is a good chance that Hillary is actually the best candidate as far as actually being able to perform her job as the president but she has a terrible persona being one of the most dislikable politicians in existence. By contrast Trump may do great things but is probably going to be extremely inept but he has a great persona and is a generally likable and inspirational person.

Because people don't vote based on how good a candidate someone is but rather based on their personality Trump is going to win

What if Trump is already in prison first? Then that would just be an easier way for Cruz to get to him.

Trump has a negative 23 favorability rating, Clinton, on the other hand, is at about negative 18. Trump is hardly, "generally likable," they're both rather disliked, but Trump is still less liked than Clinton.

Personally, I think despite all fears of Trump's authoritarianism, fascism, and other isms, he won't be able to do anything radical if he somehow gets into the White House instead of the First Woman President™. He has already pissed off a lot of people in the establishment, and they will surely attempt to obstruct anything he does in any way they can. President Trump will have to nimbly navigate around various groups of influential people wanting to see his insectoid ass being thrown out of the Oval Office, and that will severely limit his actions. Less fascism, more political gridlock.

Just what we don't need - more gridlock... Too bad that's the only good thing I can think of stopping Trump at every turn possible, provided he doesn't enforce executive order BS like Obama has abused.

Now, for what I really came to do - leaving this here:

Fucking California...

Now, for what I really came to do - leaving this here:

Good job. Now, what kind of people are known for political mob violence? Aren't they exactly the fascists they're claiming Trump is?

I don't like Trump, but fascist really doesn't accurately describe him. He's a particularly distasteful variety of nativist populist demagogue, but subtract that and he's a middle of the road corporatist Democrat.

Political violence, though? That's pure fascism.

The whole theme of his campaign is that he will use his skills as a businessman to "Make America great again". His background as a businessman is fair game to judge him on. Furthermore, he has never held office before so we can't judge him on his background as a politician.
Absolutely. Talking tends to be a fuck ton easier than governing. I've worked for politicians who were shitty on the campaign trail and great at governing, and I've worked for other politicians who were dreams come true when it came to campaigning but absolutely awful legislators/mayors/etc. Success in one area does not translate to success in other areas. Trump's businesses, television appearances, et cetera are all the voters really have to evaluate him on.

Also, the public and private sectors work differently. While there are some general management principles that one could argue overlap, they're two different beasts. People who say "government should be run like a business" either don't know what they're talking about, or are hoping the people they're talking to are ignorant. That's not to say that business experience is irrelevant, but it's not the best substitute for political experience.

By contrast Trump may do great things but is probably going to be extremely inept but he has a great persona and is a generally likable and inspirational person.
