All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

I just saw on Facebook that Gary Johnson named William Weld, the former governor of Massachusetts, as his running mate. A bunch of people were sperging that both of them are pro-choice, but, considering that Clinton and Trump (despite his recent claims to the contrary) are also pro-choice, this might not hurt him much. I actually see it helping him quite a bit, since Weld is really, really good at raising money.

Sorry for the double post, but the anarchist neckbeard wing of the LP is sperging out over William Weld. They are salty as hell, and it is fucking hysterical. I may gather up some screenshots later on. If it's funny enough, they might be thread-worthy.

I've heard a lot of people complain about how politicians in both major parties compete to try to prove themselves the "true Democrats/Republicans." If there's one thing I've learned from reading the online posts of spergy Libertarian Party activists, it's that they're just as, if not more guilty of this.

Doesn't he want all the states to secede, or something?

He is a perennial candidate who has run for mayor of Birmingham, AL, Pennsylvania State Treasurer, I think the New Hampshire House of Representatives, and maybe a few other positions. I think he was originally only accepting bitcoin donations; I'm not sure if that's still the case, although he has refused to file with the FEC. He is part of the Free State Project. I don't recall how much of an anarchist he is, but he's pretty extreme. his name is Darryl W. Perry, if anyone wants to dig.

I don't even need to know anything about that guy to tell he's a lolcow just from looking at him.

It would be much funnier if we could send Donald Trump and the Vox staff and Razorfist and all these other mouthbreathers to one of the abandoned islands on the Bikini Atoll. The Drumpfster can be King of the Rock until he and his subjects die of radiation sickness.

I do not understand how this is anything to do with Trump
Maybe it's from "Two Corinthians."

I almost want Trump to win purely because I think there's a good chance some Tumblrinas might actually kill themselves if he does.

From the people who brought you "if we put up a 'no guns' sign then nobody will get shot".

Do they honestly expect people to not flip out because there's rules?
It's not gonna change anything. Bernouts will still protest, and Shills will lecture them afterwards that "it was clearly against the rules." This is the one group Hillary can't afford to alienate if she wants a chance at winning and she's doing her damnedest to convince them to stay home in November.

What exactly can Clinton do to sway the Sanders supporters who are most vehemently against her? Attempting to adopt Sander's policies to appease their desire for a more progressive candidate results in her being called a flip-flopper and a liar, trying to 'steal' his ideas. Maintaining her positions on things instead of taking the further left option results in her being called a "Republican," who is no different than Trump apparently. She can't even win a single state without being accused of some sort of conspiracy to defraud the voters and steal the election from Sanders, even when she's effectively won the nomination and where stealing states from Sanders would only hurt her due to dividing the electorate. There's nothing really that Clinton can do to appease any of them, the only thing that can work is hoping that once the primary is over and their emotions died down a bit, and seeing the choice between Clinton and Trump, that they may hold their nose and pull the lever for Clinton.

Also, for what it's worth, these rules don't really change anything. They seem to only apply to the actual convention itself, and I sincerely doubt that any of the national delegates Sanders sent were going to act up in the first place, since the actual convention itself is composed of much more experienced professionals, as opposed to the Nevada state convention, where it doesn't take a particularly long history of work with campaigns and politics to be chosen as a county delegate for the convention. It seems more symbolic than anything, some way of saying that at least they're trying to prevent another Nevada from occurring.

Show them this (spoiler - Canada isn't a wonderland):

That said, I love how Sanders is basically attempting to hold back Clinton's momentum in order to spite her for the superdelegates. Infighting will only make Novemeber even yuuuger (whether this is good or bad depends on your views)!

I grow more convinced with each passing day that Hillary Clinton hatched from the egg of a crocodillian. @autisticdragonkin's OPs come closer to normal human behavior than Our Lady of the Imaginary Sniperfire.

DNC solves issue of angry Bernie supporters by banning being angry about Bernie at convention.
:powerlevel:I actually went down to a state convention as a Bernie delegate and I was left wondering if I was supporting a politician or a cult leader. It is one thing hearing about Bernie supports being zealots and seeing youtube videos but it is another thing actually seeing the behavior personally.

When the guy representing Bernie came up on the stage a Hillary supporter spoke up and said, "Hillary supporters please be polite". The Bernie speech was all about "Go Bernie, together we will make America great, hope and change, and blah blah blah." I didn't stay for the whole Bernie rep's speech as at that point I was getting burned out on speeches. As much as I may like Bernie but seeing the zealotry live in real life creeps me out. I can see why the DNC committee would want to take steps to reign in the zealots. While Bernie may disapprove of riots, but he is fanning the flames proving the reason for the slogan "Feeling the Bern". Honestly, there is probably enough material to start up a community watch thread on Bernie supporters if there isn't one already.

The Hillary representative's speech was a lecture to Bernie supporters to please be adults and realize that part of the democratic process is respecting the views of even those who you disagree. Trump was used as the boogie man. Throughout his speech other Bernie supporters were heckling him and being disruptive, although at least it was nowhere near as bad as it was in Nevada.
