I've had friends, so-called friends anyway, basically disconnect from me because for the sole reason that I don't worship Hillary I'm automatically a misogynist.

Convention rules and oversight are notoriously lax. What's stopping trump from flat out paying off the delegates when the time comes?

Trump isn't as rich as he claims to be, perhaps he doesn't have enough cash on hand to literally bribe delegates.

eta: There's also a non-trivial number of delegates that would gleefully declare Trump attempted to buy them off. Trump can only offer a quid pro quo once in office, with a Congress that will fight him every step of the way.

If his "donations" to charity are anything to go by, he'll bribe the delegates with a free round of golf and a signed photo of himself. Who knows, maybe a few will take the bait.
 
The Constitution Party convention started today. A bunch of nobodies are seeking their nomination, so they'll probably end up with their worst showing since 2000 come November. Joe Miller (the guy who beat Senator Lisa Murkowski in the 2010 GOP primaries, then lost to her running as a write-in candidate in the general election) was apparently going to seek their nomination, but he decided not to as of yesterday.

Which is funny because this could have been their best showing ever if they actually didn't pick stupid candidates. So many disillusioned people.

A think a big part of Hillary's supporters support her for 2 major reasons

1) Name recognition: Clinton is a pretty heavy household name since the 90's, shes widely known and has been in American politics as a Democratic juggernaut for a while. Even as First Lady she wasn't just arranging flowers in the White House, she's had significant input into her husband's presidency (tough on crime laws and the dismaying of glass-steagal come to mind).

2) Safety: A lot of Democrats truly don't want to risk the presidency on Bernie Sanders even if they agree with him on every single policy idea, and think that Hillary would be the "safer" choice between the two. This is especially true of older Democrats who still fear the word "Socialist".

That being said, it says a lot about Bernie Sander's and his supporters that some no-name small time senator from Vermont is giving Hillary Clinton a run for her money, especially when she has basically everything going for her (media coverage, donations, celebrity endorsements etc.)

Contemporary Democrats in red states, especially the South, aren't nearly as conservative as they were before the Civil Rights Act, but they're still relatively conservative compared to the national party.
 
With the brokered convention locked in, I'm reasonably certain it's all but over for Trump. As well as the GOP winning in 2016. I'm predicting they'll put up Cruz as a compromise, "please don't burn the party down" candidate, and he just can't win a general election as an extremist evangelical.
 
I am sort of interested in who is actually running Trump's campaign. I really doubt that it is him and I think it is probably neoreactionaries using Trump to get publicity

I doubt Ted Cruz will be the answer the GOP is looking for. Cruz, as much as he wants to avoid it, is pretty much Donald Trump-lite.

Trump is very polarizing, but regardless of what happens, the GOP is going to splinter off like a polar ice cap. Either Trump somehow gets nominated and moderates get pissed and vote for someone else out of spite, or Cruz/Kasich/Random party member that the GOP drags into the picture gets the nomination and Trump's supporters get pissed and break off from the party.

It's a mess for them either way.
