All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

Rubio or Kasich would probably lose, but they'd probably lose fairly gracefully. (Cruz probably wouldn't).

As Vince Lombardi is sometimes quoted as saying, "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser."

Trump supporters would rather take their chances, I think. I can't really blame them for that sentiment.

I think it would cause the Republican brand vastly more damage to steal the nomination in a blatantly rigged process and duke in some insider as a Judas goat to lose to Hillary. Those who have supported Trump and even many of those who haven't would never forgive that.

Trump getting nominated and losing by a huge margin would be much better in the long run for them, much as Barry Goldwater's campaign ultimately was.

There is literally no reason for Trump's supporters to come over to some other candidate. For one thing, he's actually more electable than the other losers who might replace him.

Time for some strawpolls!

I'll post results about a half hour before polls close

No option for "drink water."

Trump getting nominated and losing by a huge margin would be much better in the long run for them, much as Barry Goldwater's campaign ultimately was.

That's funny, because I think the Goldwater campaign is a good example of a losing campaign by Republicans that ultimately had an outsize, but toxic, influence on the party's future. Goldwater didn't set them up to win future elections, but he did ensure that when they won, they were far worse for the USA and the world than they were in the pre-Goldwater era.

I'm also not entirely sure that the general electorate really cares so intently about the Republican party's inner machinery. It's always tempting to read what happens in the primaries as a signal for the general election, but quite often the primaries have very little effect (beyond the choice of the nominee, obviously). Just because Bruz beat Trump in Iowa, doesn't mean Trump is less likely to win Iowa in a general election; just because Sanders and Hilary supporters are duking it out right now, doesn't mean they'll stay home in November if their favoured candidate isn't the nominee. All claims that the day-to-day of the primary will directly influence the general need to be taken with several grains of salt. The media have a built in bias against playing down events, because they want people to think the stories they're running matter as much as as even vaguely plausible. But there's no reason the rest of us have to buy it.

Looks like Anonymous is getting politcal and declaring "total war" on Trump. Not expecting much from 'em these day, but y'know, might be entertaining.

While I'm used to utterly retarded "Anonymous" videos trying to replicate the rare success early on of this schtick, this is just dumb.

There is nothing secret about Trump that you're going to expose that ruins him. All his negatives are right out there in the open. He's a liar. He's a con artist. He's a thief.

All his financial ventures have been abject failures where he just scoops up the money from stupid investors and then just declares bankruptcy, laughs at the suckers, and walks off.

The suckers who worship him don't care. It will have no effect at all.

Trump is all about "freedom."

Sounds like Scientology's billion year contract. Not just Trump himself, you're never allowed for the rest of your life to criticize any Trump product or business.

Comparing Trump to Hitler is way out of date. Even Hitler never thought of shit like this.
No kidding. This is some horrifying shit.

I'm happy it's legally unenforceable, but it's horrendous to think the motherfucker wants to live in a country where shit like this is actually legal and the job he's aiming for could if fucked up enough allow him to bring this about.

And given that /pol/ is a hive mind of Trump supporters, this is like 4chan declaring war on... itself.

I wouldn't give /pol/ that short shrift. There are lots of people there who hate Trump because he isn't openly a Nazi and doesn't have the balls to make his campaign logo a swastika.

Rubio dismissed polls showing him down by double digits to Donald Trump as "crazy," "out of control" and "way out of whack."
"I can't guarantee a win today. I'm telling you I expect to win tonight, but we are not 20 points behind. I mean, that's absurd," he said. "And I think we're going to prove that here in the next few hours."
