All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

Sanders is all but over. But as a Liberal I can't quite stomach Hillary. Lets make that bitch work for it.

Michigan shows he still has some fight in him. He should not bow out of the race until the end no matter how grim it seems.

Hildabeast could always get indicted or something in the meantime.

My hope is that his success thus far (which, even though he has little chance of winning has been astounding) jumpstarts legit progressive movement in the US again rather than the sheepishly-left-of-center that's dominating the Democratic party since Clinton.

Honestly I don't even blame them. Some have been much more critical of Nate than i'll be. Nobody predicted trump because nobody understood how defective the republican establishment was.
Tons of people underestimated just how stupid and out of touch the GOP was with actual voters. Just look at all the early reporting, with all these industry insiders stating that there was zero 'hype' for Trump among these states. I have no idea why anyone expected competence out of the GOP, though; they've been a splintered mess for years now.

Nobody has trusted the GOP since the 90's. The Dubya administration pretty much pissed off a lot of people in this country with the way he ran it (or should I say how Rove and Cheney ran it).

Both parties are pretty sad right now. The Democrats are a mess since a Obama has done little "change" except for a much more divided populace.

This is a very significant upset since polls showed Sanders trailing Clinton by over 20 percentage points. Before the results came in, Nate Silver had said that a Sanders victory in Michigan would be "among the greatest polling errors in primary history."
Having followed 538 since 2008, watching them fail so hard lately has been interesting to say the least

Their failure in Michigan is nothing compared to their failure in last year's UK general election.

Admittedly all the other pollsters crapped out there as well, but 538's whole brand is that they're better than the other pollsters, so the lols still stand.

(Disclaimer: It seems like I dislike 538. I actually don't - they're good pollsters, better than most even. What I dislike are their fans, who seem to believe that all understanding of politics can be reduced to looking at polls, and that the only political commentators that can be trusted are pollsters.)

I'm really suspect there is shady stuff going on with the polls to destroy voter confidence. 99% means stay home. Hillary State.

They're not really pollsters. So far as I know, they don't do any polls. They're poll analysts. Their strength is in predicting things that are relatively close to the present. While they also state opinions about things further out, like one of their people's article dismissing Trump as a serious candidate, their opinions on such things are entitled to no more deference than anyone else's, since nobody can truly predict things like that.

More polls. Another one says trump is ahead of rubio by 23 points. Kasich ahead by 5 (although two polls released yesterday showed trump ahead by 6)

There's rumors circulating that Rubio will drop out tomorrow.

If there was an award for being a loser Rubio would win it. I think he deserves a emoticon before he bows out officially.

Rubio has only just barely justified his remaining in the race with his gimpy campaign on the promise of winning Florida. If he can't even do that, he's Jeb! Jr. and it's time to quit wasting everyone's time with his bullshit campaign.

My god Rubio went from being the GOP's last hope to the butt of the joke in what, a week? Two weeks?

Trump is fucking scary

Trump is in a good position to win the nomination.
  • Recent (abet limited) Polling show him far ahead in Illinois and North Carolina
  • Trump is effectively a lock for Florida at this point.
  • Trump has a good chance of winning Ohio (50/50)
Even netting just Florida and North Carolina would be enough to cripple efforts to stop him.

Then the only thing standing between trump and the presidency would be :hillary:
