Donald Trump holds a 19-point lead over Ted Cruz among those likely to vote in Saturday's South Carolina Republican primary, with Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush locked in a close race for third and John Kasich showing no signs of a surge.

A Bloomberg Politics poll shows the billionaire dominating the field across virtually all demographic groups, and doing even better than Cruz among those who say they are either very conservative or evangelical Christian. On nearly every question about challenges faced by the next president, Trump scores the highest.

The real estate mogul is gathering broad support in the first state to vote in the manners-conscious South despite striking discordant notes with a majority of likely voters, who agree that he's used language that's crass, un-presidential, and reflecting bad manners and taste.


“From the size of the lead and the nearness of voting day, it is easy to say this is Trump’s election to lose,” said pollster J. Ann Selzer, who oversaw the survey. “While his linguistic choices turn off a majority of voters, he speaks for the people who want radical change in Washington. South Carolina may just be ready to forgive bad manners in exchange for what they see as a strong leader.”

A good VP pick for Sanders would be Patty Murray imho

It's stacking the ticket pretty high on the left side but she s aas down to earth as Bernie is

Picking a female unknown wrecked McCain's election but Murray is no Sarah Palin

Warren would be a good pick but she's already said she can do more good in congress than she would as vice predident

I think Hillary / Castro is pretty solid.

If Bernie manages a Obamaesque upset of Hillary? He's got to decide how to appeal to the rest of the democrats--I suspect Kamala Harris, CA's Attorney General. A Minority Woman with a lot of good qualifications and probably willing to agree to Bernie's policies too.

Cory Booker would not be a bad choice in his own right.

The reasoning that makes sense to me, though, is that Sanders probably does need to have a woman or a minority on the ticket to shore up some support.

Rubio as VP? Honestly, I've felt like that makes a lot of sense if he didn't win on the Establishment lane in the GOP. The problem is that the Republicans are going for Trump, Cruz has his own lane of support, and the Establishment probably splits between Kaisch and Rubio for at least a little longer. Trump has been extremely open about threatening the establishment, and a Trump that feels no interest in their support is a very different situation than one that's grateful for some kind of reconciliation. A Trump-Cruz deal follows the reasoning that they're going to work out their issues before the Establishment works out anything with either of them.

That seems to be under strain as of late.

A Trump-Establishment bargain may well be Rubio. It depends on how beaten up everyone is by the convention.

It's highly likely now. It's not just the delegate count, It's the fact that there's no obvious counter-trump candidate. Cruz and Rubio are virtually tied and jeb bush still has plenty of money to keep going.

Trump can keep doing what he's doing and he'll bleed everyone else out.

I think he might even win the general. The dems don't have any idea how to deal with trump since you cant shame him and their candidate sucks

Clinton is virtually a lock at this point thanks to SC vote and the dems innate corruption.

Too bad because clinton has no way of fighting trump.

What is she gonna say "you're racist!" or "you're sexist!"? that doesn't work on trump.

All trump has to do is say "why don't you release your bank meeting transcripts?"

She has no defense for that. She has nothing to counter with.
