All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

On behalf of Pennsylvanians everywhere, I apologize for unleashing Rick Santorum upon America.
It's not your fault. Pennsylvania's least favorite son doesn't hold a candle to most of what the South has spewed out in the last 40 years. Son of a bitch, we got rid of him in a pretty decisive vote in 2006. "In the November 7, 2006, election, Santorum lost by over 700,000 votes, receiving 41% of the vote to Casey's 59%, the largest margin of defeat for an incumbent senator since 1980."

If I was American I would skip voting this year and get trashed on listerine or something because none of the candidates I've seen seem particularly appealing. Is that just me?
I've pretty much resigned myself to considering elections to be a choice between being shot and hung although Bernie does give me hope for something better. However, the pessimist in me wonders if he does get elected, how much cooperation will he actually get from congress? I doubt there is much he will be able to accomplish in his presidency as the Republicans are not interested in negotiating with Democrats. People often forget that the president is not all powerful due to the separation of powers; legislative authority lies with Congress. Without cooperation from congress and the courts, there is little that he will be able to get done.

Haven't you been having one since 2001

When people say things like "Trump making America Great Again will be the end of Great America as we know it", all I can think of is "That ship had sailed a LONG, LONG time ago, back in 2003."

I remember America in 2002, it wasn't that great

And I lived here to experience that cold hard truth... But it's times like this where I'm (unfortunately) asking for a real war. One that will make things more interesting than either some establishment fuckup being leader over us commoner American kiwis...

Oh I get it, you think that if there's an American civil war you'll be given refugee status in Germany or Canada or Sweden or somewhere

I'll admit it's not the worst plan

Nah, I'm sure I'll be forced with no choice but to fight - but your idea could work out better. Too bad it would be a life of cowardice, in my own opinion...

Anyway, I'm just being optimistic about war breaking out here in the US over stuff like this (someday...) when there are worse reasons for that in the bigger picture of things.

It went longer than anything else I've ever OP'd. I'm gonna miss my "Trump 2016" thread.

WARNING - POLITICAL SPERGERY AHEAD

Yeah, I figured since we're entering into the period with more activity a new thread would be good.
I concur. I'm not particularly proud of my non-Trump 2016 Thread, aside from my "Juanita Broadderick Hopefully Strikes Back" title.

He's also rude and abrasive (read: entertaining) and doesn't hem and haw with political language. For some people, that's appealing.
It'd be appealing to me if it weren't for the source. We need more politicians who are straightforward, unambiguous, and don't sugarcoat language in an attempt to obfuscate politics.

The sad part? Trump isn't even doing that. He's exactly as full of shit as his ol' pal Hillary, except he says the horrendous slander he likes personally and in vulgar terms rather than getting his cronies to do it.

I think you're right about Clinton getting the party nomination, but what if Sanders gets the VP nod? Think that'd make a difference at all?
Sanders won't get the VP in any circumstances. It's a waste of time to think of this even in hypothetical terms.

Hillary'll probably pick Michael Bloomberg in a ploy against Trump's billionaire a

Barring complete capitulation to all their demands, we'll be at war with theocratic fascists regardless of who's President. The only thing that'll change is whether the war's fought well or fought poorly.

I don't know if anyone currently running will actually handle things in the right fashion, but I already know which candidates are guaranteed to fuck it up.

Come on man, I know it feels embarassing to say it, but nobody will judge you for claiming that Ted Cruz has what it takes to eradicate ISIS

I wasn't going to post this here, but my "Trump 2016" thread has now gone the way of Rand Paul and Rick Santorum:

I've never understood how a guy like the Internet Aristocrat, who ordinarily has a pretty good bullshit detector, can so easily discard such matters when it comes to things like alt-right faggotry. The issue isn't that the money didn't go to veterans, the issue is that even under the scenario where every penny donated to the Trump Foundation finds its way into veterans pockets, the money gets counted as tax deductible on Trump's part even though he never actually donates anything to the Trump Foundation himself.

The issue is greater than Trump himself. The Clintons do the same thing with their foundation. But as I've said numerous times before, a Clinton Presidency would be just as corrupt and damaging as a Trump one.

So, one of the campaigns threatens women voters with hellfire in the afterlife.

Hillary just finds women in hell so funny. God. If only Donald Trump said this.
