I have personal hang ups with both of them conflicting with my faith, it makes it impossible to honestly like either of them, or anyone who has run in living memory. People focus too much on what others say and not on what they do. Trump talks a lot of shit, but if you look at what he actually does and how he hires people he's pretty far from being racist or sexist. He just doesn't care and doesn't distinguish people like that.

This basically sums up my feelings on Bernie Sanders, but I don't disagree with him on everything. Out of all of the candidates, Bernie is the one person I could stand to share a room with for more than five minutes. He comes off as genuine, as opposed to the insanely fake Hillary. And his heart is in the right place, he's just far too idealistic and not realistic enough. And I'm saying this as someone who considers herself to be quite the idealist.

I like him even more now that he's explicitly condemned the disgusting behavior of his ~Bernie Bros~ and other likeminded supporters. Of course, Hillary will probably just keep posting cringe-inducing maymays to "prove" that she's down with the kids. That, and continuing to blame everything on Trump.

Except all the 'right people' in US politics are the same assholes who have run the show for decades and will influence Trump to push things for their benefit, not for the sorts of people who vote for Trump.

In essence though, I agree with your poiny, Trump manages to come across as the more genuine of the two candidates (Similar to Nigel Farage or Boris Johnson in the UK), despite clearly picking and choosing viewpoints based on what will get him votes.

Heh, its funny really. It used to be that we would call a candidate 'left wing' 'right wing' or a centrist. But Trump defies all of that with his myriad of positions on various issues.

I concede the racist point (although I would argue the direction of his Mexican and Islamic discussion tends to be rather negative on the whole; they're not races, so you're technically right), but I think your reversal misses one point--it puts the opinion on the judge, not the judged. There's no indication that Curiel particularly dislikes Trump. An openly biased judge should not be deciding a case. However, if they switched judges from Judge Curiel to a Muslim judge? Trump would argue bias there. A woman? He'd probably say she'd be biased from everything in this ad.
America is not "the land where you have the right to be judged by someone just like you because you're probably being elected on the basis of pissing everyone off".

Look at it this way:
Judge Curiel has been in law enforcement since 1989. He's been a judge for a decade and has been on federal courts since 2012. Now, suddenly, this guy has half the country is questioning his capabilities and bias. Not even because he was born anywhere, but because his parents were.
It may be dumb, but you can't expect the guy to be a saint and not feel anything. I'd call that quite rational, to be annoyed in that situation.
