There's enough good out there that it more than outweighs the bad.

Let the shit devs and the huge publishers that wouldn't know their ass from their elbow destroy themselves; they will not be missed, and the free market will find its customers anyway. No amount of pearl-clutching, temper tantrums, or attempts to undermine gaming as a whole are ever going to work. The market is the market, motherfuckers, and customers will buy what they want.

I don't exactly think the good outweighs the bad, there are good games out there obviously. But marketing is just too effective at getting sales compared to actually making something decent. It's much better to simply spend 3 times the development budget on marketing, youtube deals, etc etc because then you can expect a reasonable return. Much easier than trying to figure out what a good game is and then hoping word of mouth will get you sales. It's like movie trailers these days, that look like the entire movie was made around making the best trailer cut scenes.

This is a work of art. Though I get why Rich hates ME 3 after the last 2, (choices don't really matter and were disappointing) but I find it hard to fault Bioware for that fact. The game was rushed out in a year after an EA directive that wanted series to be more like CoD. So development was rushed and they didn't really have time to flesh out all that stuff (but they did resolve some things very well, like the Genophage. Rachni or Collector bases were disappointing).

Moving Drew Karpyshin off ME 3 for Star Wars fucked the series over. EA is to blame for most of the problems with ME 3. Though the ending is directly the fault of the two retards, Casey Hudson and Mac Walters who basically shut every other writer out of the room and did it themselves, thus fucking everything up.

Thankfully, mods can extract their cancerous 'vision' from the game by eliminating Star Child and the multiple choice at the end. Fuck their shitty art and pretentious, idiotic re-imaging of 2001. I see through that shit easy, its as deep as a puddle of piss by a dumpster. I seriously loathe those pretentious cunts, more for thinking that this was 'brilliant' than anything else and shutting all the other writers out of the process.

ahahaha, this cant not be a fuck you ti Comcept.

I hope it blows those stupid fucks out of the water.

Keep in mind this is the same company which decided to release Mirror's Edge Catalyst a week before E3, and sandwiched Titanfall 2 right in the week between Battlefield 1 and COD: Fucking Robots in Fucking Space. Granted, Battlefield 1 is another EA title, but it obviously was a bigger game market than Titanfall had, and to release them so closely together ESPECIALLY during the holiday season was incredibly exceptional.

Personally, I'm pretty certain at this point one the main reason ME:Andromeda is such a fucking joke is because EA rushed it out the door to hopefully off-set their losses in 2016. Whoops.

Rushed it out? It was in development for like 5 years! There's really no excuse for the state of the game that it is currently in with the amount of time and money poured into it. The only thing is gross incompetence by: 1) EA for actually thinking they could push this turd out and gamers would eat it up. Apparently they bought into the game journalist narrative that ME 3's ending controversy wasn't a big deal and they didn't have to rebuild any trust. And they could pass it off to a shitty studio for a quick buck (which failed, because it cost them 5 years and millions of dollars. And now no one is buying or playing their multiplayer which is where the money is) and 2) The studio itself. Outsourcing the animation work and having dialogue that is worse than 50 Shades of Grey which is a fucking feat, let me tell you. Filled with trash animators who can't even beat the first decade old game, character designs that look like statues with dead eyes and intentionally uglying up NPCs.

Could they have won fans back after ME 3? Yes. Capcom did it, against all odds, with Resident Evil 7. I laughed and thought there was no way this would be good. They proved me extremely wrong. Despite it being a shitty sort of company, it still showed it cared about what people wanted and gave it to them. With a huge risk no less and it turned out to be insanely profitable, selling millions of copies. Not to mention a day 1 release on PC that wasn't just a shitty console port. But instead, EA decided to do their usual: kill off a franchise to milk as much profit from it as they can. And basically destroy the name and reputation of the studio in the process. Fuck, not even Activision does that anymore. Activision is trying new things at least. When you are being outclassed by Activision, shit. You are in some bad trouble.

Mass Effect is dead at this point, its been reduced to mockery. Even people that never played the games have heard about just how bad it was animation wise. The well is completely poisoned, for old and new players alike. Bioware will be reduced to building the Star Wars MMO and when that cow is dry, it will be shot out back in the field with the other corpses and EA will just create Battlefield games only.

That cow has been undead for a year or so. However it is Star Wars, and even BW Austin can sell Star Wars. There is no other SW mmo, and since Disney took over, SW games are getting more and more scarce (What, like one battlefield game in a year or two? I'm not counting the lego :autism:), which helps TOR keep itself up. It also has the attraction factor of letting you play Sith and imperial badguys, not just the usual Jedi. Its pvp and raid content is very lukewarm at best, but it is still Starwars, which is enough for hardcore SW fans that form a core for the game's playerbase.

It is kinda like Chris chan. It is nothing like the golden days, but the cow still provides a steady steam of stale milk enough to keep interest and development in it.

Let's be fair: this is exactly what Rich Evans has always said he was going to do if anyone sent him a physical copy of the game, since long before it hit the gaming world like a turd in the punchbowl.

Has anyone heard him weigh in on it more seriously since the release?

EDIT: Ok, wow, I didn't watch the whole thing until now. I had no idea he destroyed not just Andromeda but all three of the originals too. I love Rich, but ... um ... overreaction? Just a wee bit?

Some animation insights, with a polite word from the Me1-2 animator saying that story games can't foul up on the face animations.

Yeah, but but but.... uhm..... things!

Nah, you're correct, and I need to rephrase my statement.

I've just been repeatedly going back to the gameplay leak from April 2016 and the E3 2016 reveal and keep wondering, what the fuck happened...

It was obvious that they had possibly something substantial going on, but comparing this to what was released, it's obvious they had to dump a shit ton of work. My guess is they ran into the same problem they had with ME3 where they had whole swaths of content they wanted to have in the actual game, but had to cut corners to get it out on time... either that or they had one studio whose work was awesome, but because the other studio's work was complete shit, they had to bell curve the whole product.

It's also worth mentioning that the first time we heard anything about ME:A officially was back at E3 2014, when stuff was still in the conceptual phase, and 2015 was no different, being just that cinematic trailer with Johnny Cash music and some guy running around in N7 armor. It wasn't until last year where we started to see any actual gameplay.

Funny thing is, even back then Jonathan Cooper (dude mentioned in the linked video by @Male Idiot) was mentioning something smelled fishy nearly a year ago on his Twitter.

Again, this is all just armchair detectiving. I'm not trying to sound apologist for Bioware or EA, as I have no love for either company, but it just feels like something substantially bad happened within the last year of production, which has given us what we got now.... orrrr I'm just over-complicating things and EA fucking Ubisoft'd us.

EDIT: Unrelated to the previous sperging, but also didn't want to double post....

My eleven year old younger brother comes up with better villains than that.
Kett logic: let's not use our mastery over life itself to simulate genetic mixing via reproduction, but instead rewrite other people into more of us because, uhm, we can't do that first thing for no reason.
I'm sorry, what?

I disagree it's headed for a crash. Not in the conventional sense. People have been predicting this for almost 20 years and it hasn't happened yet. There's a few big reasons it won't though.

EA is shit, always has been shit, and always will be shit. But they're very good at a number of things, specifically extracting the maximum amount of work from their sweatshop peons and then extracting the maximum amount of money from their gullible customers, and also, gobbling up lesser competitors and then milking their franchises to death with a series of grim, joyless sequels (look at PvZ).

Also, people have hated EA as long as it's existed. That would be 35 fucking years of these cancerous assholes. If you remember back into the early '80s, EA was at the forefront of absolutely shitty, game wrecking copy protection schemes that messed up the experience for the suckers who actually bought the games (usually the pirates who cracked it would remove these "insert random disk 8 that you lost" schemes so only real buyers got fucked by this stuff).

They were so hated for this kind of shit that pirates would go out of their way to target their games, sometimes even issuing cracked versions before the actual release date.

Finally, the absolute proof that EA is the scum of the industry is the kind of people who actually approve of EA and use it as a good example. That population is limited to the single, absolutely insane person John Walker Flynt, the only person I have ever seen say anything good about EA.

Speaking of John, has anyone considered that possibly John is an escaped character from Andromeda? His bizarre body language actually really does look like animations from the game.

Yeah, EA is just going to milk it until it dies. I think EA said it had basically given up on acquiring studios either because who in their right fucking mind would sell to EA now anyways, they basically Bataan-Death March Studios and that EA has been getting less and less returns from acquisitions (because, you know, taking popular games and fucking them up over and over and over again can only be done so many times). And I imagine most companies do NOT want to end up like Ubisoft and Vivendi with a hostile take-over. So you've got less and less studios for EA to gobble up, and most of the studios EA are pretty much rotting husks.

Bioware's rep is pretty much destroyed at this point. I don't see them being able to recover, especially with the corporate culture of EA and

EA is shit, always has been shit, and always will be shit. But they're very good at a number of things, specifically extracting the maximum amount of work from their sweatshop peons and then extracting the maximum amount of money from their gullible customers, and also, gobbling up lesser competitors and then jerking off their franchises to death with a series of grim, joyless sequels (look at PvZ).

John is a stupid cunt who will go against whatever gamers don't like, because he isn't one. He's a predatory sociopathic narcissist, which makes him a perfect fit for actually liking EA. Nobody likes EA, especially after the articles about their working conditions came out. All other 'shitty' companies have done at least SOMETHING to show they remotely care about their consumers. (Except Konami, the EA of Japan). Capcom, Activision, even fucking Ubisoft. There's something admirable about EA's naked contempt for the industry it is in and the customers it sells to.

EA reflects the absolute worst in the gaming industry: predatory with no respect for the studios they acquire, permanent crunch-time, treating franchises, employees and consumers as disposable and their products being in good in spite of them, not because of them. EA could die off tomorrow and the state of gaming would improve immediately. I look forward to the day when they just churn out Battlefield titles because every franchise of value they have has been consumed for profit. Gamers merely tolerate EA. Pretty much everyone saw Bioware's consignment to the corpse-pit of EA, just maybe not this soon.

Also, no numbers have been published about how well ME:A is doing except it sold less physical copies than ME 3.

Gosh, now I feel terrible. I hadn't even realized we might've been infringing on the feelings of the mannequin population.

#woke #mannequinlivesmatter

It definitely smells like a PR move. 'Oh we weren't retarded, we were just AWARE of certain people's SENSITIVITIES'. (But seriously, its because they were retarded. No studio on this God's Green Fucking Earth, social justice or otherwise would use the raw fucking mo-cap data and then just plastering it on a model. That's like cutting someone's face off and gluing it to a skeleton without taking into account bone structure. And the models look like wax dummies because of it).

I can't see Bioware surviving this when multiple retailers had MEA 15% off less than a week after release. I've never seen that ever, even with games that were widely considered to be duds.
