What makes it so good? I don't know anything about it and don't trust reviewers on mobile game since they are all paid for.

I'm a big fan of everclear. So far I think that Mohawk has the best flavor; it has a sweet finish compared to Everclear brand everclear.
I'd be a big fan of literally the strongest drinkable alcohol you can buy if I were the kind of person who'd consider a Marvel gacha the best phone game ever.

First gacha to hook me. Dunno what it is about it I don't really follow marvel; the developers have synthesized normie heroin.

I've never played it myself, but I do know a lot of the team behind it is a lot of the same people that made Hearthstone. So I'm guessing it's pretty similar quality for people who enjoyed that game.

Games are all under 5 minutes, don't need a full collection to make competitive decks like other card games, progression system is great for someone like me who doesn't play every day. There's enough randomness in the games that you don't take it too seriously.
They've got some dopamine hit slot machine sound effects and visuals in there too; not gonna lie that the presentation is a big part that activates my neurons.

As someone who doesn't game a lot and is pretty casual, I'm definitely the target audience being catered to. Definitely a total scam if you want to whale it out.

Recently, against my better judgment, I downloaded and played this game for a few hours. I have warm memories of the old VS System games from like 15 years ago, and it's quite possible that I'm dangerously gullible, so yeah, had to try it. Sorry to necro this thread, but I find Marvel Snap is not just a terrible game, but a solid encapsulation of why no one is pleased by capeshit anymore.

When I first heard about it, I was hit by a wave of nostalgia. One of my favorite aspects of VS System/Heroclix is reliving the fantastical stories you enjoyed through gameplay, or perhaps experimenting with character teamups you always wanted to see as a kid but never got to. Building teams and strategies around Maximum Carnage, for example, was something I had to try in both systems. Think I got to play with Doppelganger, Shriek and Demogoblin in Marvel Snap? FUCK NO. Perhaps someday Doppelganger might be available for a month or so, but that's faith-based thinking, and Disney does not reward good faith. They'd much rather just release the umpteenth version of Spider-Person and random overexposed characters from the proprietary Golden Corral buffet that is the MCU Avengers. Or worse, some of the characters were clearly just inserted because of their recent addition to the flailing Disney+ lineup. Point is, at any given time, you only get access to characters that tourists could want.

And the game has basically plays itself. You typically only have like one choice to make a turn, and the best choices are always obvious. Whoever has the better deck just straight up wins every time. The decks basically just mechanically play against each other while you're along for the ride. It shares the concept of 'three battlefields' with other games like Warhammer: Invasion and Star Wars: TCG (the WOTC version), but the battlefields don't feel like battlefields. Indeed, there's no fighting. It's about just passively building up numbers, and then you and your opponent comparing each other's girldicks after a few short turns and see who wins. It feels like two teams of heroes (because the clear majority of cards are heroes; think you're getting Dr. Octopus or Red Skull? FUCK NO, gotta hope they reappear very briefly in a monthly rotation schedule someday in the future-until then, you get Gwenpool and Captain Marvel's GOD DAMN CAT) sizing each other up and then parting ways for no reason. There's no theater for Timmy, no variety for Johnny, just endless grinding for better versions of characters you didn't even like in the first place. Because you rarely acquire new cards, you just upgrade cards you already own to be slightly better. So I hope you like Misty Knight, because Marvel Snap is all about raising your Misty Knight into the best Misty Knight she can be. There's also no restrictions on team building or rewards for sticking to a theme that I'm aware of, so if you're dead set on a deck that includes Master Mold and Moon Girl side by side, congratulations.

Good points? The art is okay, although nowhere as varied as in Marvel VS System. The game is extremely easy to pick up, so if games with complex rules are a turn off, that won't be a problem here. The games only last about a minute or two, so if you're the type of person who thinks Tic-tac-toe drags on, Snap is for you. But fact is, this is a card game, and card games are for nerds. But nerds aren't going to appreciate the simplicity and disappointing character roster. It's really for no one, save hopeless addicts who love to cast their wealth into the yawning uzumaki that is your phone (which is, admittedly, a big enough market to ensure Snap's success).

tl;dr - autism autism believe it or not Marvel sucks now autism autism

What makes it so good? I don't know anything about it and don't trust reviewers on mobile game since they are all paid for.
  1. It's a two player card game that lasts only six turns, and you take your turns simultaneously, and your moves are played to each other at the same time, end of turn.
  2. Your deck is only 12 cards, though you might get clones of cards or tokens via special effects. Your deck is also built on a curve, some cards are smooth for turn 1 but are weaker later, some cards are strong but you have to wait till turn 6 and hope your positioning was good.
  3. You get 1 "mana" for each turn you take, so you have 4 potential mana on turn 4, to either play a strong 4 card or two 2 cost cards, or two 1 cost and a 2. Weenie decks are viable, especially as a new account.
  4. Every game is a battle for control over three "zones" which have room for four cards or tokens from each player. Whomever has more "power" stat on their cumulative cards is the current winner, which can shift over the course of turns. The winner at the end of turn 6 is the guy who's winning 2 or 3 of the zones.
  5. The zones are randomized each game, and their special effects are revealed on turns 2 and 3. A zone might have the special rule of "only the strongest card here counts" so playing multiple cards is pointless, unless they buff the one representing for Power. Some zones just kill cards at turn 4, so you only want to play late on it, but you might fuck that up before the reveal. There's a lot of adapting to both your enemy's deck and the board in general which feels interesting every matchup.
  6. There's a SNAP mechanic which is a bluff or gamble. A win or loss adds or takes a point from your 10-point pool to rank up through the various ranks, and SNAPping tells your opponent "I'm so sure I'll win, I'm doubling the points involved on this match." Your opponent can SNAP back, so the points are quadrupled, calling your bluff. Some people will quit if you time your SNAP right, which feels good from a poker POV and you can save time quitting against a guy who's SNAPping that you don't feel good about.
That's the whole thing. Oh, and the cards aren't packs, you unlock them in a semi-random, semi-set order and only play against people with similar card pools for most of your playtime. Progression is you get to graphically enhance your most-used/favorite cards with cool borders and 3D effects. Monetization is via monthly season passes with alternate art and other cosmetics. It's fun to play and watch, but it takes a lot of mental calories in the same way Dead By Daylight does for me. Meaning, if I put it down, I leave it down because subconsciously I know what a brain drain it is. It's a very active game, rather than passive, thinking out what your opponent is doing and what you can do to outplay/out-gamble them. Sometimes you'd rather chill and mine diamonds while watching a movie. This is the opposite.

Is there any phone game worth playing?
if you don't mind paying a few bucks($5-10), phone/tablet versions of board games are WAY better than the actual $40-$60 physical versions. Seven Wonders, Ticket To Ride, Tsuro, Carcassonne, Wingspan all streamline and automate the harder parts of the rules.

if you strictly want video games, Kairosoft games are great, usually $4-6 bucks each. Mega Mall Story is one where you build a shopping mall but in the japanese style within a skyscraper, lots of replay value imo and fun to watch. Dungeon Village Story, Game Dev Story are also good, they're all simulations with fun graphics. Mini Metro is a minimalist subway rail planning game in the same vein as Mini Motorways, different company but good gameplay and thoughfulness, easy to put down and pick up.

I'm unironically looking forward to Blizzard's Warcraft Rumble at the end of the week, the gameplay looks solid for a phone game and they'll probably monetize it poorly like they did Heroes of the Storm.
