I hope YBZ gets all of Mark's DC and Marvel residuals signed over to him when the suit is done

If there was a god he would make that happen so YBZ can fullfill his life's dream of making comics fulltime FOREVER. All at the expense of one angry racist sexist pig.

All I know is that Ignited is so much dogshit, and the worst part is that it could've actually worked. Making a point about how power -- whether 'super powers' or just from a firearm -- is a neutral entity, and that what you use the power for makes all the difference. But no, strawmen EVERYWHERE and protagonists that I have an incredibly hard time sympathizing with.

Funny you should mention Nazi, since Nazism does have a "local equivalent" of The Communist Manifesto. It's called Mein Kampf. And while the lowest tier of kooky social justice warrior will call people Nazis left and right, most of the talking heads of the movement and people in actually positions of influence have gradually shied away from using that term towards anyone specifically, because they realized it was damaging their credibility. "White supremacist" is clearly an attempt to get back into the swing of calling everyone a Nazi without immediately being bombarded with ridicule and criticism for it. But it's going to end up the same way.

White supremacy is the belief that white people are racially superior to every other group and should dominate all of society. Racist meanwhile, is just firmly believing stereotypes about different racial groups of people. It's a lot broader. While it may be technically possible to be a white supremacist and be black (Just Some Guy) or have a bunch of non-white former girlfriend baby mamas (Meyer) it's really unlikely, and convincing non-crazy people that it's a legitimate accusation is going to be a much more uphill battle than convincing people that they're just racist somehow.
Unless they argue that the status quo is white supremacy because whites are doing well in America, so anyone who is against kicking whitey out of positions of power until proportional representation is achieved is a white supremacist.

The concept didnt have to be terrible. But they want the EDGE to promote it with so they can sell it to a streaming service

The streaming services are so hungry for any content that is SIMILAR to Marvel's IP they will literally buy almost anything to shove on the air. Not saying it's good (Shannara Chronicles anyone?) and most of the time it's garbage, but it's cheaper to 'license' out an option for pennies than it is for the CHANCE of a competitor getting the content. You can stockpile all the IP you want just in case.

As a famous scientist once said "That is One Big Pile of Shit" and that statement couldn't describe the IP churned out by Waid any more clearly.

It reminds me of a scene from 2000's X-Men where Senator Kelly was talking to a pro-gun control senator on a cell phone and remarked that some mutant children are more dangerous than any firearm (before Mystique reveals herself and knocks him unconscious.) Fake Holiday and Waid never pause to consider that the characters they are writing are more deadly than most firearms because of the potential for fatalities. What really perturbs me is how Waid never considers the adage, "Be wary of fighting monsters lest you become one," and how the "heroes" of Ignited are no different than any school shooter at their core. He believes that the "courage of his convictions" overrides any law or moral consideration.

He loves to repeat the phrase, "The strong protect the weak," as if it were his personal credo yet he is an abysmal failure at living up to it. The Ignited kids are the ones with the power and they use it to threaten the powerless and destroy their livelihoods. Tell me, Mark, how is any that heroic? At least Magneto had a sympathetic backstory. These brats are throwing a superpowered tantrum.

...

Considering Waid's past behavior, no wonder he identifies with them.

He believes that the "courage of his convictions" overrides any law or moral consideration.

Yeah, I've said this before about Waid, but the defining aspect of his entire existence is that he thinks he's the good guy and thus every single action he ever takes is both good and justified.

If he were a D&D player he'd be the sort of Paladin who goes around slaughtering baby orcs and raping villainesses and when the other players stare at him he just smugs "It's fine, they're evil."

Waid made a new post, he will be at Long Beach Comic Con next Saturday:

Reminder, Mark Waid Hates Asians:

I don't understand how Waid has accomplished as much as he has being the giant sperg he is. There's a certain reason why others like Dobson and MovieBob haven't gone that far in their career fields.

Waid is like a glitch in the system. Despite maintaining all the personality traits that should have prevented him obtaining success and power in his job, he's managed to acquire just that.
People who make a career doing this type of writing are not selected for their talent, they tend to be selected for their work ethic.

On Nick's stream, he briefly mentioned a 5th Circuit case relevant to Meyer v. Waid, and boy it's a doozy.

Here's the case and it is going to make life very difficult for Mark Waid:

It really speaks for itself, right at the beginning:

"Resolving an issue that has brewed for several years in this circuit, we conclude that the TCPA does not apply to diversity cases in federal court and therefore REVERSE and REMAND for further proceedings."

Very simply, Meyer v. Waid is in fact a diversity case in federal court and, therefore, according to the appeals court directly superior to the District Court where it is being heard, NO TCPA FOR YOU MARK.

Boy I bet you feel really fucking dumb blowing off filing that motion until now in order to fuck around with idiotic doomed jurisdictional BULLSHIT.

Looks like a very important card was slapped away from Waid's hand.
Yes, I realize the pun.

I wonder if we have any Kiwis in Long Beach? Given Mark’s Waidisms, I suspect he might further call JSG a “borderline white supremacist” or lie through his teeth about it if asked in his panel.

FIX THIS NOW

The essay, written by Mark Waid, accompanied a full-page image of Captain America by John Cassaday and Laura Martin and was intended to tie in with the 1944 release of the first Captain America movie serial. In the piece, Waid wrote about the imperfections of the current American political system.

“The system isn’t just. We’ve treated some of our own abominably,” he wrote. “Worse, we’ve perpetuated the myth that any American can become anything, can achieve anything, through sheer force of will. And that’s not always true. This isn’t the land of opportunity for everyone. The American ideals aren’t always shared fairly. Yet without them, we have nothing.”

"How can we have fairness if the government doesn't give preferential treatment and aid to specially selected people it deems more worthy?!"

FIX THIS NOW

So did they remove it because it was critical of America or because Waid fucked up by admitting there might actually be good parts of America?

I'm pretty sure even some hardcore flag-wavers will frankly admit America isn't perfect.

Marvel wants to con people into buying Marvel 1000

they dont want sales to be depressed by this trash

Sales are depressed because it's trash not because their troon SJW morons occasionally say something coherent in written form.

So they suddenly realize their "REEEEE REEEEEE comics fans are all NAZIS NAZIS NAZIS" shit is depressing sales and then try to reverse course in the most ham-handed incompetent way possible by censoring practically moderate statements by people like Waid and Art Spiegelman of all possible choices of people to censor?

So Spiegleman wasnt censored by Marvel

He was censored by a company doing Timely/Marvel reprints who blamed Papa Disney
