I'm still convinced Shwarma or whatever her name is only got parachuted into Xbox to decide what can be salvaged (i.e. profitable) and everything else is getting the chop.

To be fair to the pajeeta, she's off to a better start than I gave her credit for, even if she's just there for standard corporate salvage shit like you said. Even if it's pretty clear that Microsoft tried to astroturf her to the normies with the fresh Xbox account fiasco, she hasn't done anything destructive yet and may potentially have decent business sense, even if she isn't a gamer. Cutting the sub prices and killing the "Everything is an Xbox" campaign was a step in the right direction. The newest CoD iterations not being available Day 1 on Game Pass doesn't hurt my feelings any, and apparently according to their metrics, like 80% of the CoD playerbase eventually end up purchasing them anyways. It makes no sense to cannibalize sales of your own product. If the gaming division of Microsoft ends up being pulled out of the ocean by a pajeet who oversaw an online curbside grocery pickup operation, it honestly speaks worse of the last decade of management then it does her.

Not gonna lie, but Destiny 2 trailers used to lure me in (even though I generally managed to resist the urge to play, since I know that most seasons suck). However this trailer looks shit, just random shit and I guess Zombie mode?

Personally I think that PvE content they talk about is a cut content from Destiny 2. Of course changed, but, for example, next DLC destination supposed to Old Chicago and it is somewhat easy to turn it into secret mission like they did with Whisper of the Worm (which I believe was planned as a raid) or Zero Hour. Chicago - the DLC in next planned DLC for Destiny - is known for its horrible monster and seeing them trying to create horror in trailer made me think about it, so we might see planned DLC content but refurbished for Marathon.

My guess is that selling macrotransactions in the 10 year old game is not easy since there is a limit to skins player can buy until he realizes that he had enough of them and he barely uses any of them. So idea is to make a new game where cattle would buy macrotransactions, basically sunset but for cosmetics. So they view Marathon as an untapped market to sell mtxs. It is retarded, but it is how suits think.

But they completely misjudged the interest of players for Marathon. Also cosmetics in Marathon are only for the player/squadmates - there is no social hub like the Tower to show off, there is no introduction of players in the PvP, there is no chill PvE missions etc. and with super fast TTK and ratty gameplay you would see enemy just for a fraction of the second. So there are even less reasons to but cosmetics in Marathon.
This would've been understandable if characters didn't look so utterly shit, skins or not lol
It's actually impressive how bad these designs are

Twitter has been entertaining recently since everyone has realized that Destiny is actually dead. Marathon and Destiny fans have been going at each other's throats, especially since Aztecross said that he refuses to play Marathon anymore and that he would prefer seeing the game buried if it got him more Destiny, which riled up Marathon fans even more. Personally, I think they're gearing up to blame boycotters for Marathon's failure, as I can already see the narrative being built between all these tweets being that if Destiny fans didn't boycott the game then it wouldn't have flopped. There's already been a lot of guilt tripping that any Destiny fan who refuses to play Marathon because they're pissed is responsible for poor Bungie devs losing their jobs.

All that is to say, the antagonism between Marathon and Destiny has never been higher, and now I'm seeing some very delusional tweets on my timeline regarding how Marathon Season 2 will 'stunt' the player count for Destiny 2's June update, since so many people will be playing Marathon instead:

Is this about Marathon Season 2 or a new Postal game set in Portland Oregon? Ba dum tsssss.

Only Bungie could be so absolutely braindead as to bet their entire future on an ultra-niche genre only played by tryhards, and then also shit on their largest fanbase at the same time.

I am very excited for Marathon Season 2, because if it doesn't go perfectly for Bungie watching the studio panic and Marathons playerbase croak/cope is going to be a lot of fun.

Cries about the game not being PvE, cries when the game goes PvE.
No one is asking for PvE in Marathon, except you who admitted to asking for it lol. No one wanted or asked for Marathon in the first place, for that matter. PvE being shoehorned into Marathon is a cope and a silent admission that the game sucks on its own premise and that Bungie should have just made D3.

I hope Bungie enjoys the(extremely small and bipolar) new audience they have garnered, that actively hates the audience they have been cultivating for 12 years. Surely a schism in following is just what Bungie needed.

Much like Marathon, I don't see what Microsoft could possibly do to turn Xbox's fortunes around after losing 2 console generations in a row, and I cannot believe they're seriously planning to release another one next gen.
Microsoft's new console isn't a console. It's more like the Gabecube (steam machine). It's basically a small windows 11 PC that's build with cloud gaming as it's primary focus. How it goes, we'll see, but if it lets you also play steam games then it'll be fine probably.
I think they're gearing up to blame boycotters for Marathon's failure
>Makes a bad product
>No one buys it buys it
>Pay influencers and media to glaze you for a month
>Doesn't move the needle
>"Wahah why won't you CHUDS buy out product™!"
>"If you don't buy it then you're boycotting it!!"
>No such thing as low sales do to no interest
>If people don't buy your product it's not your fault

Lol they tried this with CoO. Not gonna fly with the actual people who matter, the bean counters at Sony want their pound of flesh. Claiming that the 200+ million in Sony marketing money wasn't good enough to win over the goycattle isn't a winning move lol.

I feel the need to ask the obvious question: why wouldn't I just buy a gaming PC if that's the case? Please don't tell me Microsoft are gonna be crazy enough to continue locking a handful of exclusive games to the console-that's-no-longer-a-console version of Game Pass.

Trying to go up against the GabeCube might be even more suicidal than stepping back into the ring with Sony, so this should be interesting either way.

The bad faith and disegenous faggot reveals himself.

Maybe I've got you wrong, maybe you haven't actually been following this thread. Start from the beginning, people were desperately hoping this was going to be a Single player game and were mad to discover it wasnt. People do want to play Marathon, but not in the context of an extraction shooter.

Anyways, I think the UESC Marathon should of been a chance for people to do some PvE with their friends and the community, even if it were this way it wouldn't solve the problems the game has as I've already stated.
Guess what Tarkov just introduced just a day or two ago....

Thats right its a PvE map where you board a ship and fight the hardest enemies with a few friends. Big fuckin HMMM, reminds me of something.

Open play for console and PC begins June 2 for any blast havers still on the fence
I did a bit of nooticing and seems like they removed pronounces from introducing bubbles - only name and position. Also there are only white dudes and one woman speaking (few women at background) although I don't know whether it is different from other videos.

Imagine how desperate Bungie are if they have to do all possible to not offend chuddies :story:

P.S. I like how new Runner looks like, looks almost like OG Marathon suit but in red color

Price will be the selling point. If it costs below $699 and plays all modern titles at 60fps 4k at medium high settings then it hits a market the gaming PC hasn't cracked into, the poor graphics fags lol. Also if I understand their marketing correctly it's not going to have exclusives. All releases will be on Xbox/Windows 11 box and PC. You'll be able to dual boot it into either console mode or PC mode to access gamepass and steam respectively. Like I said, neat concept, might have legs might not. All depends on the Gabecube price/specs and whatever Sony shits out lol.

Oh calm down, you get flustered too easy. You're Marathon's strongest soldier so I figured you could take it. I know what people were hoping for prior to release but that's not what came to market and that's what matters. OG D1 speculators wanted D1 to be single player as well and when it came out as a shared world shooter during alpha I remember the disappointment by the halo bros. It was similar to this but a different time and new community made all the difference.

Back to Marathon. People might have wanted it to be a single player/PvE game but that's not what it is. Them Seeing what it is now they understandably don't think it can be adapted to PvE focused play. And they're right, it's not designed around it. The PvP is the focus, which you touched on in your post about endgame. When I told you that the endgame is killing players or being killed by them, that wasn't my opinion, that's it that's the endgame of extraction shooters and what the core of Marathon is built around. Marathon's community want better PvPvE with events and more enemies that aren't boring bullet sponges. They want more focus on PvP with balance passes and more guns/variety.

Trying to push marathon into a PvE mold that it's not designed to fit is the worst possible solution to Bungie's problems. It's not going to improve the game or being in more players. It's definitely not going to win over burned destiny fan boys. All It's going to do is sap resources from areas that need refinement while also neglecting their new found(Marathon exclusive) community. A community that likes the core of the game and wants more of that, not bolted on destiny style content. my colorful and playful commentary on the current situation isn't an attack on you nor a representation of me wanting the game to fail. Nigger I want people to have fun, even if it's in a game I thoroughly detest.

All depends on the Gabecube price/specs and whatever Sony shits out lol.
From everything I've heard Sony remain high on their own supply and are planning to release another traditional console that will use AI to artificially increase framerates, so I have no interest in a PS6.

The GabeCube is the first console I've been excited for probably since the Gamecube, ironically, but I'm very worried what price it's gonna come in at. Thankfully since AAA continues to shit the bed with no sign of correcting course any time soon it's not like there's any reason to buy any next-gen machine any way.

h calm down, you get flustered too easy
I keep saying the exact same shit over and over again and people want to intepret it as anything but what i've said. It's really fucking old. Not blindly hating the game gets you marked as Marathon's strongest soldier.

Oh no, some one played the game and has as much good to say as they have bad to say about it.

People might have wanted it to be a single player/PvE game but that's not what it is.
It's what it's turning into and what the developers have said the is the direction the game is going. I think it will always have elements of PvP, but I wont be surprised if this game ends up looking more like a multiplayer bot stomp than an extraction shooter before they yank the plug on it.

Some one theorized that all the of the D2 content left on the cutting room floor will make it's way into Marathon, I believe it. Why else would you take half the D2 team and have them start developing for Marathon?

it's not designed around it
It's not exactly designed around being an extraction shooter either. Somebody earlier said "it's like pubg, but bring your own gun." and its true, the game is in a bad fucking spot hence the 10k player pop. It doesn't know what it's trying to be, it's schizophrenic.

When I told you that the endgame is killing players or being killed by them, that wasn't my opinion, that's it that's the endgame of extraction shooters and what the core of Marathon is built around
This is such a bad understanding of what extraction shooters are, it's like claiming the whole point of watching a movie is to see the credits roll.

It's true that with out wipes or resets the game can devolve into pvp for the sake of pvp and it's also true that every one whose played an extraction shooter acknowledges this is easily the worst part of the genre.

These games are supposed to be built around uncertainty and progression, the emotional highs and lows, and once you 'solved' the game you've lost the part of what made the game compelling in the first place. It's not the destination that matters, but the experience of getting there.

Marathon's journey is incredibly short lived and flings the player immediately into the worst part of the genre with absolutely no means of resetting other than waiting for the seasonal reset. My most charitable explanation for this is that they were hoping to make an esport out of the least competitive FPS genre and in doing so made a fucking disaster.

Jeeta probably understands the "butt rock enjoying dudebro who yells faggot in Xbox lobbies" demographic is an underserved market who will spend money at this point and can make common sense room temp IQ business decisions to appeal to them rather than giving the fag hating Halo players rainbow flags

Sony or Nintendo players might enjoy rainbow flags so for them it might be a wise business decision but absolutely not Xbox players

Butt Rock and Xbox are intertwined ever since Halo 2 had Breaking Benjamin did Blow me Away and Butt Rock is still extremely popular in 2026, despite critics at pitchfork and metalsucks hating it, with the same underserved demographic who would also buy Xbox (Butt Rock and Xbox have a specific flavor of autism that is wholly distinct from Playstation or Nintendo autism and Cyraxx is the physical embodent of that autism as he is guy in the Halo or MW2 lobby who demands you call him sir but yells at his grandmother to clean up his diahrrhea and always tries to act tough even when Marty steals his Xbox and the Halo community is an untapped goldmine of autism with DarkSpartan711 as their OC instead of Sonichu)

Halo and Gears of War is like Mario or Sonic in that they are a classic series that people will flock to and each release 343i makes has massive interest in it before its found out to bungled by a team even more incompetent than nu-Bungie, Halo 5 and Infinite both had excellent marketing but were both lackluster

Even the awful Halo games like 4 and 5 eventually get the Sonic 06 treatment where lots of people eventually say they like it

Sony/Playstation stopped with the weird or experimental games on playstation so Xbox could easily fill that Indie or Avant Garde AA or edgy niche that Sony left behind akin to the original Xbox having a lot of weird or wacky titles beneath the HELL YEAH BROTHER exterior beyond just Halo and Gears or Ninja Gaiden

The meta shifted towards being entirely a ranged game. There is no point in pushing and closing the gap if you are just going to eat lead and die. Ranged combat is not nearly as deadly as it is in Tarkov, if you start to die you can just dip into cover and heal back to full in a few seconds. The way to counter this is through grenades. Grenade spam is now the current meta, people now just fill their back packs with grenades. Bungie is currently looking to nerf Grenades into the dirt.

Once you can no longer kill people with a combination of grenades and automatic fire, I'm pretty sure the next meta is going to be Rail guns and sniper rifles. Weapons that can Down players or dispatch them in a couple of shots.
The new runner shell is built to punish people who push and rely on grenades to finish out ranged fights.

This shit might be ridiculous when your team brings claymores and you decide to camp a building like bio research

Oh no, some one played the game and has as much good to say as they have bad to say about it.
That's not why I called you that. I called you that because out of anyone in the thread you have probably played it the most and can speak best to its shortcomings and highpoints. You played it despite its flaws and are of the few who do. Hence "it's strongest soldier" not "it's biggest simp".

Yah but that's not a natural progression of the game evolving. This is a forced pivot out of desperation and as much as I don't care for the game, I don't think it's a good idea nor do I think the community will be happy.

A shorter and better description than I could write. I'm a long winded bastard.

If it's a bad understanding then why did you just describe it the same way. The loop is
>Start with nothing
>Slowly aquire stuff over wins/losses
>Fill your vault with nice things
>Take out nice things to get more nice things
After that all that's left is to kill players or quit until reset. "The outcome of a system is it's purpose." If ES endgame all ends like this then it's not a flaw of the genre but a core principle. This is even true In PvE focused ones like Arc Raiders, which I capped out several seasons the same way.

While I may not care if Marathon lives or dies, I hope for it's own community Bungie's incompetence doesn't kill it completely. I still want destiny 3 and I disagree with Marathon even needing to exist. But we're here now so I'll just sit and watch how it goes.

That "runner" aka Spartan III looks like a tranny version of the EVA Helmet/Emile from Halo Reach and its fascinating to me that Bunghole is taking Halo Reach armor templates and reworking them into this sort of postmodern garish deliberately ugly design like all the retards who play Ramasson don't see the thigh pads on the side of "Sentinel" have been around since Reach

They stripped out the edgelord and fascist-coded elements of Emile's design that made people like Emile, its not the EVA helmet its the HIV helmet

They should just put a ? symbol on the helmet part to signify gender confusion and be honest with who the game is for

These are all things that definitely happen inside an extraction shooter, but they are not the limits of it.

I use Tarkov a lot because it seems to do the best job of it, despite all its other problems.

What makes Tarkov compelling is that the actual raid itself is only one part of the loop. People don't realize that the gameplay starts before you even start a raid.

One of the very first quests in Escape from Tarkov is the Bronze Pocket Watch task. A trader tells you something like "there’s a bronze pocket watch that belonged to a truck driver, the key is in room 214 of the dorms on Customs, go get it."

That’s all the information you’re given.

As a brand new player, you don’t know where Dorms are, where the truck is parked, what the map layout looks like, where players usually travel, or even how extraction works. So the first phase of the mission isn’t combat at all instead it’s all reconnaissance and operational planning.

You spend hours building situational awareness:

-learning the terrain
-identifying landmarks
-understanding infiltration and extraction routes
-figuring out where hostile players congregate
-memorizing chokepoints
-studying timing and map flow

Only once you’ve built that mental map can you begin planning the operation itself.

Then the logistical questions start:

-Do you run the mission at night for concealment, or during the day for visibility?
-What weapon platform fits the objective?
-What ammunition can realistically penetrate the armor you expect to encounter?
-How much food, water, medicine, and spare ammunition can you afford to carry?
-What route gives you the highest probability of survival based on your spawn point and extracts?

And even then, success is not guaranteed. Most players fail repeatedly. Every death becomes a new after action intel report. You reassess routes, alter equipment, change pacing, adapt to enemy behavior, and try again.

Sometimes you survive through careful planning, Sometimes through improvisation, Sometimes through pure luck. And sometimes the route to extraction is carved through the bodies of everyone who stood in your way.

What’s important is that this is a day one task, this could take hours and hours to complete. Later tasks expand this idea even further. The objectives gain more moving parts, the stakes increase, and logistical requirements become major obstacles in themselves. There are missions you simply cannot attempt yet because you lack the operational capacity.

You may need:

-rare keys to access secure areas
-specialized clothing or disguises
-large amounts of currency to pay for services or equipment
-enough medical supplies and ammunition to sustain multiple failed attempts
-reputation with traders to acquire proper gear
-an entire stockpile prepared before the operation is even viable

So the “game” is not merely the firefight or scooping up loot and heading to exfil. The firefight is the execution phase, the looting is the preparation phase. The whole experience is s the preparation, reconnaissance, logistics, adaptation, and risk management that lead up to it.

The best Tarkov raids are the ones where you have the feeling that you are planning and conducting an actual operation rather than simply queuing for another match. Stacking bodies and finding loot is not the point, it's all in service of the missions you are being given.

Marathon instead centers the PvP as the entire experience closer to what you describe, rather than it be teh part of a broader operational loop. From the last video they put out this seems intentional. Their goal is for most players to reach complete progression before each reset.

There is no pre planning or logistic build ups in Marathon. The gameplay loop reduces it down to pvp at the nearest poi, repeatedly, until one team is left standing to loot the map of it's vendor trash.

It's fucked, big time.

This is the great fucking shame of it.

Every Runner has a role and a purpose within a team. Every piece of equipment can shape how that runner preforms that role.

Not once in all the hours I've been playing this has anyone ever made a plan and formed a team around any of this stuff. Every one just picks the shit they like and they hit go.
