Arrogance is a running theme with the development of this game Bungie. They blew off lessons they should've already learned.
First time? Expecting Bungie to learn from their past experiences and misadventures is a mistake. But, surely after Reach Destiny 1 launch House of wolves Destiny 2 launch Curse of Osiris Warmind Shadowkeep Beyond Light Lightfall The Final Shape Marathon, Bungie will learn and change their ways/right the ship! Destiny three is going to be great :optimistic: .

I'm totally not still bitter. Nope. Not one bit.

They have to add some sort of matchmaking based on level, PVP record, loadout value etc. or new players will simply refund in the first 2 hours of getting repeatedly stomped in the face.
I believe this is already the case based on my experience. If your having a tough time I think you're just in the learning period or your playing with retards who are setting you up for failure.

Team work is night and day difference in this game. I play with people who can regularly clutch 1v3s, but that's all they are really good for so you regularly lose team fights if they go down first or cant clutch the win. I also play with people who are a bit iffy on a 1v1, but are better in a team fight because they know where the fuck they need to be as well as what is and is not important to communicate. I win a lot more fights with the later.

Solos is a meme, don't do it. Random team mates will only carry you so far, you have to be a social butterfly.

This is the pricing for amazon servers. If they're using these servers. I don't think its gonna be around next year with how much they're bleeding a month.

Jesus wept, what do they need those kinds of specs for, just for server-side stuff? There's no reason that shit couldn't be done far more efficiently on mid-range Graviton instances for about a quarter of the price per instance.

They're not seriously just grinding off-the-shelf UE5 multiplayer hosting, are they?

Of course not!
Amazon has its own plugin for Unreal that makes it even easier you just have to download it

The question is, are the Devs this lazy? Are the companies this dumb and incompetent?
I think we know the answers.

Holy shit, you can even deploy it as containers via Fargate (much faster deployments and scaling up/down, easier spot pricing availability and adjustment, and even quickly resizing container host capabilities): https://docs.aws.amazon.com/gameliftservers/latest/developerguide/unreal-plugin-container.html

It does still involve running UE5 as a server, though. I could've sworn there was a way to drastically reduce the hardware requirements for the server-side stuff though. Obviously it's not loading textures, audio or models, but I imagine it does still have to at least load level geometry (and hell, maybe models too for collision calculations or something, I dunno :story:) and of course game logic.

Meh. Whatever. I'm sure it can be optimized further than they're probably doing. It actually sounds like a fun engineering challenge, tbh (which explains my career path, I suppose), but I doubt they've got anybody on staff with the same intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for endless optimization.

Genuinely how are you doing this without buddies though? It's not like WoW or something where there's role queues and everyone's been playing for 20 years and generally knows what they're doing; I tried filling with randoms a few times and it went exactly like expected, like playing with two other solo players who ran off to do their own things.

"Actually gaming is too cheap and Marathon should have cost even more!"

These "people" are completely braindead cattle and deserve to be fleeced for all they're worth.

Come on redditors, even as someone who uses the same logic template with movies as a baseline, this is just pure dumbassery. For one, food is literally base sustenance, we need it to live, so not only is it completely disingenuous to compare it to a luxury form of entertainment, counting only the actual eating time ignores that it sustained you for another few hours. For two, $30 for sushi by yourself is honestly probably getting ripped off, you can't just pick the worst deal you got and expect everyone else to follow it. At least with my movie baseline I'm expecting eight hours out of $60, despite the fact movie tickets cost a lot more than that now.

I havent had randos who split in multiple directions in a while. Maybe it's the match making, maybe it's luck, maybe people know what the fuck they are doing finally. Even if they do that I just go with them, its still an opportunity to get gooped up. People are usually willing to help you after you help them and often enough they are bringing me closer to my POI.

A ton of the early tasks dont require exfil to complete, unlike Tarkov. So even if youre on the worst team possible if your able to progress the task one objective per raid your making headway.

I usually do Randoms when I'm waiting for previous partners to log on. I will not pick tasks that have me doing crazy shit, pretty much anything on outpost is not happening.

Bungie has proven that they cannot get this right.

I played well over 2k hours of Destiny 2, I am a very good PVPer, in the top 0.7%
but that's just "very good", and if we were dumb enough to go into Trials, after 2 wins, we will almost always get paired against top 0.1% and even higher fractions than that, the UBERsweats, you will NEVER beat, EVER, people who can slide out of a corner, snipe you peaking 100 meters away, and slide back in a blink of an eye, the top of the top.

why couldn't I be paired with people at my skill level or slightly above? because FUCK you, its Bungie, this ultimately kills high end PVP, and feeds into itself, they have all the statistics on all the players because fuckin 3rd party sites also have all these statistics, they just don't care.
Trials has been such a fucking mess with the matchmaking since it's inception. In D1 when they first made it wins based it essentially locked out 90% of the player base from ever going over 3-4 wins because that's when you would be put up against sweats.

Nowadays, trials even at 0 wins fucking sucks because now the sweats make it thier fucking job for some reason to gatekeep a pvp not a lot of D2 players even do most of the time. Going flawless isn't even an issue now since Bungo made it so you can go to the lighthouse anyway after 7 games, it's just now the loot is win based and flawless only matters of you're a fashionfag.

Passion is not anything I'd expect with working in AAA games.
Nor is good pay, at least for programmers.
