That shit is totally using DDR3, isn't it?

Even if it does, only a tranny needs the best of the best hardware to play a game when Russian 13 year olds in Counterstrike will destroy you at high ping and 24 fps. Using shitty hardware and not consooming incentivizes devs to optimize games so they run good on bad hardware and even better on amazing hardware. Doom 2016 looks great and runs on a fucking potato with DDR3 so every game should be like that. My old RX 480 I sadly had to replace would run it amazing with Vulkan on Nightmare settings. Boringlands 4 won't run well on a 5090 and looks worse than Doom 2016 because PC hardware nerds buy for specs instead of experiences and Bunghole and the industry knows that and relies on their consumerist tendencies to make up for poor sales all the while graphics have gotten worse quality wise and run worse. Raster tech has had many years of development to mature into being effectively perfect for consumer grade hardware and cheap screen space reflections in 4K that run fast are possible on RTX 20 and RX 5000 series and they only introduced real time gaytracing to sell new cards to dumb goyim exactly because it stopped being computationally intensive to run. Raytracing often looks reflects perfectly rather than blurring reflections so it looks less realistic than Screen Space reflections,. Its an 8th gen i5 so it will use DDR4 Sodimm which will offer not the best but acceptable performance for most people who just want to play games to have fun and not inject estrogen while benchmarking. This is the kind of "person" who consumes RAM at $1500.

Marathon won't run on troonix(which is a good reason to not buy it because troonix can make shitty hardware run way better) but that is also the kind of "person" who would play Marathon competitively.

Another thing to note about Halo: CE is that it was an exclusive for the original Xbox, which nobody owned at the time. I'd bet money that 30% of the people who bought it on launch had to pony up a few hundred dollars for a new game console, and that's probably a conservative estimate.
I owned it. I was there 3,000 years ago. It was my first and only Xbox game for a good while, the console didn't have a lot at the beginning and I did not have a PS2.

I can't tell you how many hours I put into CE. Many nights fucking around with friends in co-op, and the layout for beaver creek is seared into my brain.

I don't believe this at all

"may have sold"
"shared by the community"

Fuck. You. Lying. Liars. Give us real numbers. I could claim they only sold 100k copies and source my anus, and there's no way for you to prove me wrong unless you produce real numbers.

Fuck I hate paid "guerrilla" marketing and compromised journalists (i.e. all of them). So sick of constantly being lied to as a matter of standard practice.

Funnily enough that 100k estimate would be way closer to reality. If it was even close to the number of sales the amount of players would be like 4x of the current 55,569 (at the time of comment: 12:59 AM UTC+1) and as many others noted bungie and bungie shills wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. Idk why these people just lie about figures on a platform like steam when just a glance at 24h peak player numbers shows such an insane discrepancy and is really obvious.

I just don't get why it keeps happening. It isn't working anymore. People haven't believed this style of lie for years now, because the same thing always happens after it starts -- the game flops and either shuts down (if it's GaaS) or fades into obscurity. Literally every time this shit starts now, people call them out and say "prove it," they never do, and the lie doesn't work. Ubisoft hasn't convinced anybody with their bullshit either. This "technique," whatever they're calling it, has failed.

Even if they're being paid or bribed to do it, can't they come up with a different lie?

It keeps happening because low iq brownoids from india or brazil are running these accounts.
Right, but who's still paying them? They don't work for free. Surely the ringleaders have figured out by now they need to change up the messaging.

Sigh. I dunno. Maybe it's just the various marketing departments doing the best they can with the turds their employers keep sending down the poop chute.

Who says its grifting? Bungie is such a genuinely shit company I'm genuinely rooting for them to fail because I genuinely hate them.
The faggots who can't see the forest for the trees say it's grifting, aka Bungie fanboys

But the meme itself is pretty funny which I'll give them credit for

Because it's standard practice at playstation and has been for a long time
That's why you're getting a bunch of articles crying about how steam charts are evil and killing games etc etc
They don't know anything else but lying at this point, What's the last big success story? Modern playstation is built on the lie that Horizon is a popular franchise that needs hundreds of games, it's lies all the way down from that

No buzzword can survive months of widespread use online without completely losing its original meaning. Grifter just means "person who disagrees with me/person I dislike" now. Just like incel, cuck, groyper, etc.

This got a pretty good chuckle out of me ngl

I like how the 2nd to last figure is almost 22k less players than the launch figures
The mere existence of Arc Raiders renders it all kind of moot, I doubt Embark spent as much on Arc as Bungie did on Marathon. Their other FPS The Finals also hasn't had its years of stagnation and middling releases like Destiny 2 did
I lurk on a discord for some niche game's news and I keep seeing this one guy who keeps letting the playercount fags live rent free, its almost no earnest praise of it and instead complaining that "people want games to fail fr fr"

ARC probably cost a 10th of what Marathon cost, and likely 1/4 the dev time.
