gta 6 is going to be a really really good game that will completely fail to live up to any of the hype people made for it. it's going to sell really well and be a commercial success but it won't live up to the cultural expectation that people have thrust onto it because gta 5 had everything in the right place to be the biggest knockout smash hit of an entire generation. It was a showpiece title for two console generations, it had one of the most popular and profitable online dollhouse multiplayer experiences with women and teenagers, and the storyline was an extremely fanservicey gratuitous Los Angeles/Hollywood faggot bullshit storyline that appealed to middle aged white dads and niggers during the sunsetting obama years.

they aren't going to be able to recreate any of those conditions because they were environmental and cultural. it was lightning in a bottle and it wasn't even all that good lightning. unless gta 6 manages to completely course correct and change their tone to be more like a cohen brothers movie or some shit and knock it out of the park on the merits of writing alone, then just doing another gta 5 in florida with a higher level of fidelity isn't enough to make a new cultural smash hit even if the game is very good
They also have had really good success with the RDR games which had really good writing. Clearly, they have talented writers that are capable of producing more than schlocky crime action-comedies. Whether those writers are the ones taking the lead on GTA6 remains to be seen, but it’s certainly possible.

It’s pretty much impossible for 6 to sell as much as 5 did, simply because cost of living increases mean a lot of consumers don’t have the money to spend on luxury goods like video games anymore. Frankly, if AAA companies had sense they’d try to market to people like that by lowering prices, rather than trying to scalp the already shrinking pool of people willing to pay full price for slop by raising prices. It’s not like distributing games costs them anything, thanks to digital stores.
I will forever maintain that a big part of why Helldivers 2 was such a smash hit was that it cost $40.

You beat me to the screenshot.

I was gonna post that the patch notes for this weeks weekly reset was one sentence.

One. Fucking. Sentence.

They fucking rent? God this industry is retarded. The ONLY requirements for the dev studio are electricity and good internet. They could probably build a miniature town in a rural area with low taxes, and pay their employees to relocate for cheaper. But I guess that doesn't really fulfill the LARP that attracts these vultures to the industry in the first place.
To be fair, which I hate being to bungie Fuck’em, this is kind of just how office work space works now. My company does the same thing, and we are a pretty profitable business, my wife’s job is the same. I’m pretty sure that office or industrial landlords/rental companies are just as bloodthirsty and greedy as apartment landlords, so, maybe it looked cheaper to rent vs buy an office space.

Or they’re just severely retarded.

Bungie employs 800 people, and rents out premium real estate in a very expensive part of the country

If their employees were actually trustworthy and worth their salt they could WFH and save a fortune too.
All the bullshit about less productivity is only true if you hire bad people who treat your employees like shit. And even in that situation you're not getting much out of them in the office either.

After watching some of the GTAO scenes and read how GTAO writers are writing GTAVI, I’m a bit skeptical that they can write a decent script.

Maybe the writers will be held to a higher standard with VI. But I’m not holding my breath.

I loaded into perimeter with some randos, we killed a boss at overflow ridiculously fast with out taking much damage. I thought wow, what a bad change. We went to station where there was one of those boss summon crates, 3 sniper bots are summoned, they instantly down the entire team.

GG i guess.

It won't last because its a high end PVP game that almost requires Trios to function, and the play pattern for games like that is to peter off into nothing.
friends won't be on to play, you won't want to queue up with randoms like XxXDickswaggahNigmuffugaBIXNOODXxX, and eventually the friends just stop wanting to play, it HAS to have a solo balanced game mode or it will NOT last.
TBF, they did at least somewhat address this by adding the Rook shell, which is specifically for soloing.

well to at least put it in perpsective, Guardians are some of the most OP FPS protags ever, able to bend space-time, cosmic forces, and manipulating and outright fucking ignoring casaulity, that's what your ghost does when it "brings you back", it simply excises the event that killed you from causaility itself, its why you can be quite literally atomized and come back like nothing.

a Runner is made out of Chinesium.

Marathon actually makes me viscerally seethe, like at least with any other active multiplayer fps game you can at least generally have fun with it for an hour or two even if you don’t like the microtransactions or the sweaty playerbase, as a former Destiny 2 player the fact Bungie just dropped it for Extractionslop makes me boil with rage and hate on a level i usually only reserve for Jews and bullshit in the government, like no one wants to play it and it’s clear Bungie bottled reviews, if they aren’t going to do anything with the Destiny IP they should sell it to someone who actually cares so they can make a Kino reboot

I think the story and setting of this Marathon game is actually interesting and I'd like to see/read more, but I just think Bungie chose one of the worst genres of game they could have used to explore it.
In an alternate reality, the entire planned story of Marathon currently being drip-fed over weeks and months is instead a full campaign available from day 1, and the multiplayer is the classic arena shooter gameplay we all know and love instead of a niche genre that only appeals to tryhards. Alas, this is what we get instead.

That’s just standard practice for pretty much any company these days. It’s a logistics thing , apparently office buildings are a nightmare to run.

I’m not this angry at it, but I do hate it and Bungie for the same reason. That’s why I’m in this thread lol; is wishing for the downfall or Bungie. Someone close to me asked, “if you love Destiny, why would you wish for marathon to die?”

Burn it all, nigga, burn it all.

Destiny Rising exists, though ymmv on Kino status. I do hear it's a lot better at onboarding players in a sensible manner. I doubt Bungie gets any revenue from it, Tencent probably got full rights in lieu of cashing out their stake in the company.
