The designs for these "shells" are all better and iconic for what they are, and one is literally just the Security officer from Marathon lol. Nothing is overdesigned or garish in all the colors Bungie let you use to color your Spartan. All 3 of those were also acquired by playing the game and doing obscenely hard challenges like 1000 gamerscore in Halo 3 for security, Vidmaster challenge or send Bungie a video of you killing yourself with a traffic cone for recon, and find all 13 skulls and the one skull literally had you jump through hoops to play the Halo theme and people only found out how to do that through datamining for Hayabusa. You also got the Katana by completing the whole campaign on LASO which is obscenely fucking hard.
The terminals in Halo 3 also look way cooler than anything the trannies at Bunghole will make today.
By "shells" I meant the hero shooter aspect that they leaned on after the directors changed. People were expecting grounded characters that they could customise as they want which are typical for extraction shooters in general. Character specific abilities aka heroes are not as good as "create your own character" gameplay and immersion wise.

He was there while it became the fagscape that it is, he just took his golden parachute.
Yep, once you sell out to a corporate overlord you tend to lose a lot of influence.

Did the Swedish guy who sold his game company (Mo-something?) to MSFT stay there very long?

What I find so funny is, looking at these numbers, this should be considered a pretty good success. BF6, Warframe, DayZ, etc. all have similar players at this time of day. This is not a bad launch!
Those games have those player counts now, long after the initial release.

A successful live service game should have a really big launch, make back most of it's development money. Then it will retain a small dedicated audience with spikes during updates.

Marathon's launch may not be a total flop like concord but it's very anemic. The numbers it's pulling are not enough to make back it's development money, let alone sustain further development at a meaningful level. The game likely had a massive development cost it failed to make back and never will. This isn't the kind of operation that can live on a small dedicated audience like Hunt:Showdown or Tarkov.

its already dipped to ~25k twice so I dont know how much longer that 30-60k daily players will last.
It won't last because its a high end PVP game that almost requires Trios to function, and the play pattern for games like that is to peter off into nothing.
friends won't be on to play, you won't want to queue up with randoms like XxXDickswaggahNigmuffugaBIXNOODXxX, and eventually the friends just stop wanting to play, it HAS to have a solo balanced game mode or it will NOT last.

Notch, company named Mojang? AKA creator of fucking Minecraft? why would you do the "oh ya know that guy, who was he?" bit with him?

he made 2.5 BILLION dollars cash for the aquisition of his game, which likely has made even many more billions since, he did EXACTLY the right that to sell it to Microsoft because he would never make that much in a lump sum in his life the way he was handling the gold mine he had, and not to mention, he was a lazy fucker and no longer has to do all the work like the conventions or adding content.

Or you go from blaming your previous overlord (Actiblizz) for your faggotry to the new one (Sony)

Notch? He took his billions and left, and was subsequently cancelled for being a chud or having incorrect opinions. Slightly different, he sold his company as opposed to one he just worked at though.

He’s also very fat. RICHER THAN GOD HISSELF; but fat.

Small correction: the katana was acquired by completing all achievements (specifically 49 achievements or 1000 gamerscore, since the later DLC added more achievements). LASO never rewarded anything until MCC, where you get some achievements and nameplates for it.

But agreed, I really miss this more grounded sci-fi aesthetic that pre-343 Halo and early Destiny had (old Marathon to an extent as well, though it's lower rez). I still remember getting really excited as the armor permutations for Halo 3 were revealed and imagining what my Spartan was going to look like. And all of that was earned just by playing the game, no microtransactions or anything like that. Those were the days.

The new Marathon designs simply do not mesh with the old in my mind. I simply can't accept that these weird cyborg whatevers are from the same world as the Security Officer and the Pfhor.

Sony and Bungie failing to make a big live-service project work should doom the entire concept and in a world ruled by sane people would signal that the entire idea of Live-Service games is done for and that AAA publishers should do something else.
You would think. But they’ll continue to spend money on a live service game and hope that whatever they release, will stick. And it’s going to be fun watching them waste money on stupid projects.

I'm still not buying your game, assholes. Insulting me won't change my mind
Releasing a game I have no interest in just makes me not want to buy your product. But insulting me will make me never want to buy from your company ever again. I might even help seed your game if it’s available to torrent.

Old Bungie also encouraged you to kill any and all BoBs and had Simulacrum humans who ran at you and exploded and said weird shit like "Frog Blast the Vent Core" to show they weren't human. That mechanic of betraying marines became a major thing in Halo and every modern Sci fi game won't let you even betray other players.

Old Bungie let you fuck around and find out and softlock yourself in some missions if you so felt like it.

Ah yes, the minecraft dude. I never played that game because I didn’t like the look of it.

An obvious question, but I don’t know the answer to it: Why are so many game developers absolutely rife with Leftist twats?

And when did the industry turn into wokeville?

Slightly off-topic, but have you seen the new Karen game? The basic concept is kind of funny.

“Check out the Reveal Trailer for Karen, a 3D action beat-em-up sandbox game developed by Sauce Studios. Players will embody a disgruntled Karen who's been denied service to her satisfaction, leaving rage to be the only acceptable response. Wreak havoc across the local mall, speak to managers, and destroy everything in sight with physics-driven attacks. Karen is coming soon to PC (Steam).”

It’s been that way for years, because of the industry trying so hard to be “art”, it naturally attracted the same kind of fags that make this fucking thing and think it’s a good character design.

Literal slop. I think the image of the compiler surrounded by UESC corpses is a pretty badass image and shows off the cosmic horror the previous games were known for, but adding in the two random bottom images is the epitome of photoshop slop.

Media and Tech are because Colleges are run by radical Post-Modern Leftist nutters, so you get people coming out of them who are susceptible to peer pressure and propaganda to be at least somewhat Lefty.

Leftism in many circles is the path of least resistance, you go with it, or be purity tested and struggle sessioned until you pledge alleigence.
