I still don't understand why they couldn't have just made marathon the new halo considering the original game. It still could have even been a live service with pvp along with a campaign. Why did it need to be this? It doesn't even make sense from a retarded corporate/investor point of view.

As in, they made a new Destiny with this setting, needing to do 'strike' equivalents to get gear to go on the harder 'raids' against harder enemies and you lose it all if you die? That sounds fun honestly. I liked the gameplay of Destiny, FPS raiding was fun, but I definitely know that what I miss is the dozen bros I would be hanging out with shooting the shit with more than what the game became.

Do you think it's satire or are bungos that desperate?

Seems really weird that:
1) They'd want to obscure who owns the domain by running it through a privacy company.
2) A random guy would care about EU privacy laws.

Because Sony gets what Sony wants

Maybe it's my prior experience but the game has felt somewhat boring.
I cant appreciate this take at all. Maybe what you're actually missing is the anxiety that comes with EFT.

EFT combat usually boils down to a few things:

1. Swing corners and click on heads
2. Right lean peeking people to death
3. Holding a static position and waiting for some tard to walk by

If the combat itself was what made Tarkov special, then Arena would be the main game, but it isnt. Maybe you just like the slower pacing Tarkov has? There is a lot more uncertainty in Tarkov than Marathon, so much more.

The good news is that there is practically no safety net in Marathon. There is no prison wallet or insurnace option. If you die, your gear is gone. You cant shove loot up your ass and keep it, you cant chuck your gun in a bush, if you die its gone. If some one loots you, it's theirs.

Once you can actually start building/crafting your guns and runners with meaningful kit the anxiety will come back, but it takes a long while. Maybe too long.

Game play wise Marathon is just a much faster game with the runner abilities and builds, the fights are more frequent, and the risk is absolute.

Most of the players I've ran into are braindead, they're either too aggressive or clueless for pvp like this.
We've got a fuck ton of PvE brained destiny people and console players who are new to the genre. I had to explain a guy that looting comes after you team wipe, not during, thousands of people are learning how it works.

I think my experience with it can be crystalized into a rook run I did on outpost. Found two other rooks, did prox and asked if they were friendly, they said they were. UESC started shooting at us, one of them tried to stab me during the chaos of that, I downed him with a WSTR. He just started calling me a nigger over prox mic and the other rook just magdumped till he was dead. The other rook and I extracted without having to communicate too much.
So the average Scav run?

That specific encounter got me wondering if this is a genre that anyone actually likes as a whole. Because in every extraction shooter I've put time into, most of the playerbases seem like they're there for reasons other than the fact that it's an extraction shooter.
I really dont know what you mean.

Porkbun has WHOIS privacy enabled by default, so that does not seem too weird. I know that 'single dad with 38 kids and 7 wives coming home from my 4 jobs gets 12 minutes to play a week, make the game easier for me Bungo' was a satirical gag from Destiny, which I think eventually morphed into an actual expectation.

One faggot who called arc raiders goty not too long ago is now saying that arc raiders is for dads. Guess that's the new brand now for games.

Get dads to play intense shooters so when shit goes down they'll mute their mics, grab a belt and beat the shit out of their kids for interrupting their run.

It's reddit trying to get people to play a niche genre game. If you ask people who the target audience is they'll say halo and destiny fans. If you ask them how tarkov or some other extraction shooter compared to this is they'll say they don't play those games.

Did people just buy this game based off of Bungie brand?

I finally saw a clip where the design didn't make me instantly skip the video. Maybe I'll pick it up after March break.

Bros if you want free loot and to consistently come out of a run with > 10k loot value a run, just run outpost solos. Its so fucking easy.

Someone high up in the company played Tarkov, said "I love this, we need to do our own," and convinced themselves and the suits that they could make it mass-marketable through Bungie Magic.

You guys think that there's going to be a resurgence this weekend or if it's doomed to die a slow death?
I don't think there's going to be a sudden spike in players, nor do I think it will decline as a purely linear function, it's probably going to slowly settle into a regular player base somewhere around 30k. Whether that's enough to keep it going medium-to-long term or not, I have no idea.

I really like this format, it’s funny seeing faggots and bungieniggers on social media seethe because they can’t argue with data. I think it’s also exposed how insanely censorial the AAA games industry wants to be with removing SteamDB and other API data collection models, even wanting to remove steam REVIEWS. They literally just want us to buy the slop and nothing else, scary shit man. Fuck’em.
I don't think I've ever seen people argue against the free flow of information so hard in favor of this game. As someone a few replies back put it: "This game is genuinely mindbreaking people like I haven't seen in a while."
I’m convinced it’s a mixture of genuine Bungie glazers, but it’s also HEAVILY paid for. That faggot Aztecross has completely abandoned anything Destiny related (even making little jabs and jokes at people giving him shit for doing so) for just being a Marathon shill. He’s known to be flown out to Bungie HQ and events a lot, for his direct feedback on things they work on so he is terrified of losing access. They are undoubtably funneling him money en masse to play/praise the game since he is the biggest Destiny/bungie streamer as of right now.

Hes not the only one, Datto has abandoned it as well, the OG Destiny channel. I don’t even really blame these people, niggas gotta eat, but they’re also censoring or shaming people for talking shit about the game in their chats.
