ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A man is charged with murder and other offenses in the slaying and dismemberment of a Florida Uber Eats driver who had brought food to the assailant's house, authorities said Tuesday.

Oscar Solis Jr., 30, is charged with killing the driver during a delivery Wednesday at a home in Holiday, Florida, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said at a news conference. The remains were found at the house in trash bags and a cooler, which also contained a receipt with Solis' name on it, according to a police affidavit.

“This was a horrific crime of passion,” Nocco told reporters. “This was demonic. What he did was demonic.”

Solis faces charges of murder while engaged in a robbery, failure to register as a convicted felon and for a parole violation, jail records show. Solis was released from an Indiana prison in January after serving four years for an assault and burglary conviction, Nocco said. He moved to the Florida home about three months ago.

The case comes amid several recent random shootings of people around the U.S. who approached strangers' homes, including a couple in Davie, Florida, whose car was fired at when they were making an Instacart delivery but turned into the wrong driveway. They were not injured.

Jail records did not list an attorney who could speak on Solis' behalf. A jail mugshot shows Solis' face is covered with tattoos, and Nocco said he was affiliated in Indiana with the violent MS-13 gang.

In Florida, the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Solis worked security at a strip club, according to the affidavit.

Evidence collected in the case includes blood found in various places around the house and a key fob belonging to the victim that was found on Solis' dresser, on top of his wallet. The affidavit also says the victim's car was found abandoned a short distance away, and inside were a trash bag containing blood-soaked rags and towels, a DoorDash bag like one the victim carried and an employment time card with Solis' name on it.

Investigators also obtained surveillance video from the house showing the victim making the food delivery and, later, two Hispanic men carrying heavy trash bags outside. The other man, who worked as a driver for Solis, has not been charged.

The victim had been reported missing by his wife after he never came home from his Uber Eats deliveries. Uber told investigators the victim's last reported location was at the Solis home.

I'm actually going to defend the Florida department of corrections here.

Most petty criminals just do the Trailer park Boys thing and remain persistent albeit mostly harmless nuisances. I don't think anyone could reasonably predict a burglar would instantly escalate to killing, dismembering, and eating a guy.

He was a known affiliate of MS-13

On close reading, I don't think he ate the guy, just butchered him and bagged him like trash.

Butchering a human is hardcore shit. I would not be surprised if they link him to other murders.

Did Uber dude mouth off demanding an outrageously huge tip for a job a retarded monkey could do? If so, then Psycho Killer (qu'est-ce que c'est) was doing God's work.

It's freaky in a way, because you would assume to be safe in such a situation. Who would be dumb enough to order something at their house and kill the delivery driver? The risk reward is just so high/low, it literally makes no sense at all.

Unfortunately, some people are just dumb and or crazy beyond imagination. And the more strangers you meet, the most likely you will get to meet one of them.

I never delivered anything in my life, and I never really thought about it, especially now that everything is cashless, but it's kind of a deceptively dangerous job.

This guy wasn't just a local retard stealing to get his fix. If you are associated with a violent gang then they should be considered a bigger risk because they have surrounded themselves with people who could push them to commit more and more violent and atrocious crimes.

I thought Indiana DOC let him out. He's only been in Florida three months.

True, but, I think you can put better than 50-50 odds down that a felon, if left unpunished, is going to keep committing felonies of ever-increasing scope, frequency and severity.

"Beer muscle" crimes are one thing, and I agree some people just can't seem but to spend their whole lives commiting a long string of them (The local Sheriff joked to me once that such people are just "serving life on an installment plan") .

But once you've gotten up to robbery/burglary kinds of stuff? Time to treat you as the imminent threat you are.

We're playing a dangerous game by letting wokified-DAs act like felonies are really no different than a parking ticket and letting people go free. It's a shame lives have to be lost to prove them wrong when anyone with a brain could have told them.

Dominoes is known as “dial a victim” in some areas but it’s usually just robbery.
