I love how hes so smug. "Oh you think you know better than an actual author," while arguing with a sucessful self-published author (over 40,000 copies sold in 2019). The difference is its a fan made AU not official cannon. Sure if HBO put it in, youd be changing the artists original vision, but to compare that with raceswapping Snape and Hermoine in cannon is ridiculous. Its an additive process not subtracting what was already there.

From what I understand it's because the person who drew the first piece of artwork that kicked this all off insisted that it's a genderbent reimagining of Draco as a woman to appeal to men, not trans-woman Draco explicitly. Add the basic level of performative seething necessary anytime they see something HP-related and you have this perfect storm of a culture war.
