There has to be a return home to the village and the wife. And it cannot be an afterthought.
People yearn for a slow burn romance where the payoff is two characters finding home in each other's company. Modern media can't seem to handle anything that's not bite-sized and pornrotted anymore, there's a lack of that genuine connection between characters that comes with a proper romance in today's weird-ass coom-driven culture. The childhood rivals to loving partners is a very sweet, wholesome story arc and something a lot of people now see as unattainable for a smattering of reasons, the fact that people are portraying it with Malfoid x Harry is definitely one of the draws of the trend. Humanity yearns for belonging, for community, for family, for home.

I can't count how many times a book has been a letdown because a perfectly good dynamic was rushed into getting together for the sake of smut. The story didn't need the smut! It was better without it! Hell, it didn't even need the romance! It all just feels so damn forced, at least give the damned characters a chance to get to know each other, for fuck's sake! I'd rather be left in anticipation for multiple books waiting for them to confess at the end of the series than have them hook up halfway through book one. We used to have culture, god damn it!

Ah, well, we might never put gooners back in pandora's box, but it's always lovely to see people reaching for something deeper and more meaningful, even if they only manage it in fiction. :optimistic:

Magic in HP doesn't seem to operate on anything resembling logic. Entire buildings can be concealed from both all magic and muggle means of detection with the Fidelius charm, and satellites already existed when HP took place and magic schools were still undetectable to muggles.

It's not like Rowling fleshed any of this out, but what we can infer from what we see with magic operating is that 'detect me not' is going to cover basically anything muggles can actually do.

Regarding the 'traitor' aspect, it doesn't help if no one believes you and the most powerful people in the muggle world are already all compromised. Think of how much power a wizard would have just from controlling Trump, Putin, and Xi, lol.

First Hogwarts isnt under fidelius. Its not directly stated that it has limits but since its supposed so hard only Albus is known to cast it, and all locations we know are under it are small houses, we can infer it has a small area. Hogwarts is only under repelling and attention redirection spells. Again that might work with low fidelity satellites, I dont disagree. Its actually realistic in that way since there are plenty large geographic features discovered through better satellites and more eyes on them. Thats what im saying. Unintentionally Rowling chose the best time period for her book because late 20th century UK was familiar to her. The Fidelius might not even work under a surveillance state depending on whether it violates the uncertainty principle.

Second im pretty sure the PM would believe you since he had a wizard body guard to stop death eaters mind controlling as you suggested. If not turn a teapot into a gun and I think they would be more believing. Bonus points if aurors apparate in to arrest you.

I just think its interesting to fix the plot holes by theory crafting a more reasonable Watsonian explanation rather than a doylist one.

Malfoid haters are low IQ

The appeal of Malfoid is that is employs very simple and direct archetypes. You know, the story aspects that were developed thousands of years ago and are the skeleton of nearly every great story. Enemies or rivals who fall in love. The characters yearn for something, not even necessarily love (or not knowing that what they're yearning for is love), and they find out that what they are yearning for is in each other, that it is each other. Love conquers all (or rather, more accurately, love motivates to conquer all). Love that is "meant to be." In falling for each other, they win over the skeptics (Lucius, Ron, etc.). They live happily ever after

This is all basic af shit and it's basic af because it fucking works. It's worked since humans started telling themselves and each other stories. It's not subverted, deconstructed, belittled, stood on its head, drowned in a million gallons of slop. All the little aren't-I-clever tricks modern entertainment uses to enshittify are missing, or in the case of the coomification, been rightly gatekept (so far). It stands on its own two pureblood legs and cares not for the insects biting at its ankles. Not so long ago it wouldn't have even been a blip, because entertainment still respected the archetypes. After a generation of shitting on them, their unabashed use feels refreshing and hopeful, even if it is nothing more than a basic bitch silly little internet fad. Everything old is new again
