That's fair, after 25 years of HP seeping into culture. But the fanfic rewrites really are a non-trivial part of this. Every aspect of HP's world and Rowling's writing have been analyzed to death by now, so a novel idea done properly is hitting a new generation that didn't grow up with both the series and its fandom. The /lit/ eggheads are doing deep dives on morality on an otherwise dead board, it's not gooner bait like most throwaway r63 fanfic usually is

Obviously you throw anything like this onto Twitter, heavy on the visual aspect, and you get the gooners. That's more guaranteed than death or taxes. But every fad that has staying power is rooted in something that rings true, at least for the people who spread it initially.

I suspect the whole thing sours by the time OnlyFans Malfoid picture shoots start getting uploaded. Can't have nice things on the Internet, or at least you can't keep them nice.
Yeah. There's a time limit on it for sure. And if it gets the younger crowd to actually read the books, skipping the movies/show, that's a plus. It's a good series for that age group.

It's a meme, it's not that deep. Some people thought it was funny/interesting to make a gender-bent Malfoy. Some artist got a recommendation to make their Malfoid trans and pretty bluntly told the tranny to shove it.
That seems to have been the original Malfoid artist, actually. The person who got run off from Bluesky and found a much more receptive audience on Twitter was one of the earlier artists to adopt the trend, but this Redten was the one who made the piece that set the trend off to begin with on September 22.

Didn't just shit on trannies but dykes & yurifags too, even better.
Didn't Christians consider Harry Potter to be demonic or something like that?
Depends on the Christian. Evangelicals were the main ones who did that, less so Catholics and other churches. There were claims that Pope John Paul II approved of Harry Potter based on something said by some priest writing a report on early 2000s media, and Pope Benedict initially disapproved but later changed his mind based on some article written in the Vatican's official newspaper.

Rare Papist W tbh, the Evangelicals' seething over HP to the point of going full retard and having literal book bans & even burnings over it went a loooong way to further ceding cultural ground to the left and cementing their reputation as not just joyless puritanical fucks who despise anything fun/whimsical, but genuinely dangerous & loathsome Dark Age throwbacks in turn for the next 20 years. I bet no small number of kids who were too young/weren't even born to remember Hillary Clinton & Joe Lieberman sperging over video games, but did grow up with the aforementioned Evangelical sperging over Harry Potter & whatever else they might've found fun as kids, became the footsoldiers for earlier stages of the woke plague in part to spite their wannabe Cromwell parents & pastors.

Anyways,

Most Malfoid posting melts my cold, racist, and antisemitic heart but this is the funniest one I've found.

the African witches and wizards gain their magical powers through a direct melanin connection to mother gaia, which is taught to them through oral tradition ONLY by the side of brushfire hearths under the immaculate quilt of natural starlight. they don't need these castles in hidden, magic bubbles. the africans have maintained the dark continent so as to keep a natural and direct pipeline to the ectoplasym of the ethereal magical world.
wypipo don't arise they chicken

I've only seen the first Harry Potter movie and the one with Doctor Who so I have to assume that Luna Lovegood's father being Alex Jones is canon.

"They're putting potions in the water that turn the friggin' nargles gay! Don't you understand that!?"

Were the evangelicals also assmad over the existence of halloween? A fun book series for children with all sorts of wonder and whimsy at a magical school doesn't seem too far detached from spooky month in general and people love spooky month. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot by being a legion of joyless cunts.

Malfoid was fine, but the weebs that are turning every male character into a woman and then self inserting as Harry Potter and his harem are absolute cringe

People like Malfoid because it reminds them of a period in time before current year bullshit. It reminds them of that night at prom, that one date with that cute girl in high school. Newgens wouldn't get it. They couldn't. Harry Potter was a product of the 90's and 2000's when the books and movies took the world by storm. Not everything was online, and not a lot of people were. You could yearn without being picked apart by prying eyes and everyone holding a camera. This is collective Millennial AND Zoomer nostalgia made manifest, of a time you can no longer get back.

They aren't fine with Halloween either. Nearly every church in the States does a "Harvest Festival" at the end of October, basically a mini-fair with fall-themed decorations, games... and free candy... and kids dressing up. It's an explicit attempt to give a non-occult option to Halloween, and they're usually big hits in their neighborhood, even for the kids who do Trick-or-Treat the next day anyway.

The church isn't dumb, it's principled; and it knows it has to be careful about being killjoys. That's why harvest festivals cater to kids and non-church families. But on the topic of Halloween generally, it's telling that actual kids only care about the candy; the real elaborate parties and celebrations and macabre posturing is done by adults, who treat the day like an excuse to act like kids.

Harry Potter was a different problem. The church didn't have a cool new whimsical story universe to counter it, the few attempts were so laughably bad nobody remembers them outside of Nostalgia Critic type channels. The Bible has an explicit ban on adding anything non-divine to its text, so they're always going to be limited in what they can do there.

Also, non-religious schools and parents were falling all over themselves about "getting kids interested in reading again!" That wound up being a lie, as we got the new READ ANOTHER BOOK phenomenon once all those supposed new readers grew up and treated everything like Hogwarts.

I'm too much of a newgen but what is the Salt Mine?

You fucking twat. This appears when you answer in salt mine.
