I never had anything from Limited Too. My mom got my clothes from thrift stores, the flea market and hand-me-downs shipped to us from cousins that I never actually knew. If she felt like splurging, she got my clothes at Walmart.

We weren't even poor or anything, my mom just thought that kids shouldn't be worried about fashion. So my embarrassing pre-teen years consisted of looking frumpy and poor and not knowing how hair-care beyond shampoo and brushing worked.

When I was 12 I stopped wearing clothes with shape because I was experiencing my first taste of catcalling and moved to stovepipe sweats (raw hem, huge legs) from Lucky Brand plus a t-shirt. I had a perpetual knot in the back of my hear from always wearing a goddamn ponytail that I didn't chop until I donated 15 inches of it a year or so later. My mom desperately tried to get me to buy things that fit since I always wanted the L or XL. We compromised that anything for a formal occasion HAD to fit and since I went to a private school where we only had "free dress" days on Wednesday it's not like I needed a lot. I wore those pants until the asses wore out *sigh*
Mercifully I came around by the time I turned 13 and I'm pretty sure that nearly everyone's preteen years were awkward, stuffed with that childhood insistence of holding onto your favorite patched-up sweatshirt but looking forward to applying your brand-new Maybelline frosted eyeshadow just in time for your group date where you will be wearing said favorite patched-up sweatshirt.

I think a lot of it stemmed from me not being comfortable with my body and feeling like I needed to hide.

These were in this Tuesday Lululemon drop *drool* i'm going to hold off buying them for a bit in the hope that they are too weird for most people and get marked down.

Oh man they are crackaliciously good. I usually buy China Glaze polishes so this is my first pricy (at $15) one in a while. This is the first Ciate I've ever bought for my collection but when I worked at Bloomingdale's you bet I tested the shit out of them. I worked a position where I pulled merchandise and found that they held up pretty well to digging in shoeboxes, climbing around in stockrooms, etc.
The one I got is called "oil slick" which is a nice gold/green duochrome much like its namesake. I was not a big fan of the Caviar polish treatments because it felt like I'd just fucked up my nails with poppy seeds (and was as bad as a chunky glitter to remove) but the colors and pigmentation are great. I'd say that I would feel good with 2 coats of Ciate since the formula seems really consistent.

tl;dr, A+++++ WOULD BUY AGAIN

@littlebiscuits I have never heard of Pavolva but you brought me back to the days of being a 10 year old who dressed like a raver all the goddamn time. Limited Too and those comfortable nylon pants with expandable zippers and eyelash sweaters and blue lipgloss. The drugs hadn't even entered my system yet. Nothing like a hit of frosty blue lipstick to bring out the yellow in your teeth.

Wonderful to hear. I usually wear CND vinylux polish on my tips because it holds up so well and OPI or China Glaze on toes because it doesn't rub off.

My teenage years were an unholy marriage of the Delia's catalog and JNCO. I looked like Blossom had just washed up at a rave.

This describes my adolescence far too well. When bigass platforms came back I simply got a 1000 yard stare.

@chimpchan those crops are totally rad. My last purchase of pants from there were my seek the heat crops which worked well because most crops end too high on my calf. After years of ballet, dance, and now lifting crops always end up rolled behind my knee, cutting off my circulation. These end just above my ankle which is definitely not too cropped but given that I'm either pants or boogie shorts it's a start.

God, this is making me want to look for photos of my ~*awesome fashion sense*~ circa 2000. :heart-full:

applecat circa '98 was very poor, so having clothes from Deliahs was out of the question (getting the catalog was pure torture).

She thought Ginger Spice's Union Jack dress was about the coolest thing ever. Halloween '98 was a happy, happy time because she got to paint her nails black.

Also, I should really own this: https://otakumode.com/shop/5432013a5b905ea17cb4dd15

I got my clothes mostly at Old Navy and Gap (a habit that's stuck in terms of staples lol) and yeah, it was awkward because I went to rich Catholic school and every time we had an event, I always felt super out of place out of uniform. I've always been chubby/heavy and it never bothered me as much as it did when I was in frumpy clothes to hide my pooch at 12.

Uh, a lot of my clothes as a pre-teen were either frumpy, hand-me-downs from my sister or brother, or both. Also, my mom sewed a lot of my clothes because she descended from a poor immigrant Chinese family, so saving money was key. I was already awkward, autistic, and an outcast, so good fashion wouldn't have done a whole lot for me anyway.

Alright, so here's the selection of lip products I'm currently using as of today. Sorry for the shitty photography from my old-ass digital camera. I labeled everything so you could actually tell what the things are, if anyone cares...

A lot of these came from beauty subscription boxes, or swaps. That's why there's so many different brands.

I've got the Hurraw! Black Cherry one too, it's really nice.

I've been Fresh Sugar everywhere lately! People are going nuts over it! Is it worth all the hype? Just curious.

Also, I like seeing what kinds of products people use. It's neat!

The Fresh Sugar you see in the picture is a deluxe sample I got in a swap. Eh, I'm trying to like Fresh Sugar because of the hype. But I don't like its weird citrus flavor or how easily it mushes up when I apply it to my lips. And while it does have many botanical ingredients, it also has a lot of mediocre ingredients you would find in dirt cheap lip products such as Blistex: Fresh Sugar contains (synthetic?) fragrance and propylene glycol, to name a few. From the perspective of a natural beauty product lover, lip balms such as those from Hurraw!, 100% Pure, or even Burt's Bees have similar beneficial botanical ingredients with less synthetic ingredients, for a cheaper price point.

Really?! Wow, that is good to know. I hate when lip products get too mushy, it grosses me out. Welp, I guess I'll spend my money elsewhere!
