Personally im not interested in avatar and the bald kid with cancer that can manipulate the elements. That said we get 2 sets of cross overs those being spider man and avatar. Shit man those slot couldve been used for actual new sets or revisiting old ones. Cant wait to see how a year will consist of 75% universe beyond sets and 25% regular magic sets.

If they don't have cards for the new series then WOTC has managed to out retard themselves with "Lets do another IP...I know THE WALKING DEAD" because the Walking Dead was fucking dead as an IP by the time that secret lair dropped.

Too be fair no one is going to want cards for characters no one even knows they like yet. The original series is still beloved and their job is to sell MTG cards not promote the newest series especially considering Hasbro doesn't own ATLA.

The kind of special spider guy. He's from Theros and is 100% an original character.

You can do both at the same time, like in a world where Avatar 3 is a great series on par with the first Series, dropping the trailer for your new Avatar and ending it with "Oh by the way...here is the Magic the Gathering Card for that character" right after the end of the trailer would make hype for both things.

Now we don't live in that world so its not going to matter, but I don't generally think the first Avatar series has enough to it to make a full magic set, which is one of my bigger complaints about Universes Beyond at the moment. Some series are deep enough for multiple sets (Final fantasy, lord of the rings) but some just aren't. (Assassins Creed)

I presume its gonna be Ravnica or Capenna flavored since they are "Citites"

They still have to buy the rights ahead of time and then design them as well. It would also be up to the rights holder to then give all available information to Hasbro about the new series so that can design cards for them. I wouldn't want to design cards for characters that I don't have the full story available to me

They do that for every in universes set and half the time they ignore the characters Full story for their own shit.

See : Amalia going with Kellen to Ravnica and getting a single mention in the lore and zero mentions on cards.

I would say the difference is people are more likely to complain about UB sets than regular sets when it comes to established characters.

Wait - there is a 3rd series coming? Like cartoon series? I thought it was just the live action series being released. Is it supposed to be the further adventures of Korra or the Avatar that follows her? (which would be a male earthbender if they maintain their rules - 🌈)

3 season tv with 61 total episodes is more than enough material. That's easily the equal of LOTR 3 books. If anything, between all the bending, allies, and everything we saw in just that trailer, it seems like they could have done a full block off the show. (Or would have been fun if each series was given a set to make an Avatar block.)

I dont know exactly, but from what i know it is the avatar after her and the world has completely collapsed.

Good job Korra, it's supposed to release in 2027, i honestly thought that it was releasing this fall. Which is why i assumed we would get cards for it.

If its not till 2027 then we aint getting shit from it or Korra lol.

3 season tv with 61 total episodes is more than enough material. That's easily the equal of LOTR 3 books. I largely disagree, if you just go with the main show you will start to run short on minor aspects to fill out the commons and uncommons with. We are gonna end up with like 3 each of all the main characters like we did with Brothers War(which i hated but accepted cause Brothers war was covering entire lifetimes)

This might reveal what specific third world shithole I'm from but I keep getting ads for the new LoL tcg and... it looks neat. I very much wanna get into it.
I will still love and play magic but after FF I keep actually wanting to purchase product less and less.

I might be misunderstanding but how I'm reading it personally is that the ATLA set is just for ATLA, and lord knows if we're getting SL's with the other Avatar characters from other series (this is definitely happening for the new show since I think it premieres sometime around december??? or january???). Basically, since the spiderman set is named the spiderman set and it's only spiderman (and not broader marvel, to keep it open for other marvel sets) then I assume ATLA will only be aang and the other kids rather than Avatar as a whole.

One of the guys that works at my LGS is going to make me learn it with him. He got me into One Piece for a bit, and introduced me to Union Arena (which I enjoy as much as if not more than magic). I know nothing about league (I was going to try and find the character Josh played before I realized it and DOTA2 are NOT the same thing), so I’ll report back to the thread on how it mechanically feels when I try it out.

LMAO, but LoL is basically a bastardization of DOTA to begin with, so if it's an old enough character, then they probably have a LoL equivalent character. Or I can just give you an approximation. I'm blanking out on which one Jewsh said he played... I might be more retarded than I initially believed.

I played LoR religiously for the entirety of release and the first expansion set, then I had to lock in and be a real useful human being and found out later it simply went to shit and they just abandoned it, which sounds absolutely retarded, but ya know, that's how shit is on this bitch of an earth. If you have any insight, please share with the class, I'm interested in catching up in any retarded decisions I missed out on while being a wagecuck.

It would not surprise me if they're going to try and do Korra MTG in 2026 so they can do series 3 in 2027.

At least the news series will inspire E;R to do some more videos.

I don't see the issue. Originally in like... the Star Trek card game they would do just THE ONE CARD of characters like Picard and Data.

Then as time went on they realized... oh we need to capture more moments with them. Especially with 2nd edition they leaned into multiple versions of characters. Because like... how do you capture the totality of say.... Worf and his journey over two series? Better to have his Enterprise version, DS9 version, klingon version, future version.... etc.

Likewise why not say, multiple zuko at different points in his journey?
