Ixalan was cool though.
Ixalan was originally just the Pirate, Dinosaurs, and Mesoamerica plane. Too top heavy, instead of being the Multiverse explored through the lens of Pirates, Dinosaurs, and Mesoamerica it's asking the question 'How do we get Pirate, Dinosaurs, and Mesoamerica into MTG.' but I think it could've carved out it's own identity into MTG better if given more time during Lost Caverns if they had more time, but 1 set blocks just aren't long enough to get really acquainted with a plane.
Just compare Ixalan to Kaladesh which is Magic's India plane, but still recognizably has it's own identity. The same thing goes for Ravnica and Tarkier which are the Renaissance/Prauge plane and Steppe plane respectively.
Theroes and Innistrad also have the same problem, but to a lesser extant on their release, even if overtime I feel like those planes didn't successfully expound on their identities beyond the initial reference. Kamigawa is in there somewhere, but it probably got the worse approach taken to it where they just took a ledge hammer to the pre-existing setting to turn it into an even more referential plane with more contemporary references while also exploring an idea MTG had already explored within it's own framework in the form of Esper and Kaladesh being the 'Cyberpunk' planes.

Kamigawa at least had the concept of "Cyberpunk on a plane where spirituality is a real and physical thing" and the Original Kamigawa block took place 2000 years before the "current year" in magic so the plane being vastly different makes sense, it let the effects of the plot continue logically. Everything else they just throw out the set up for the next plot to do whatever they wanna do right now.

We are going back to Tarkir soon..The Khans will be back by the end of it they will completely undo the entire plot of the first book because "WE WUZ KHAAAAANNZ!" They fucking did it with Ixalan where even if they didn't cheat the poll about who "won" the Race..every ending was basically undoing that ending and having the Sun Empire win.

Ironic since both of those had 3 set blocks originally.

More because sales. MaRo outright admitted that the clans of the block were way more popular than the dragons- which they didn't expect, because normally dragons are so popular. That's why the entire story of Tarkir was about restoring the dragons, they thought players would prefer that.

It's almost like three set blocks where better than two and one set blocks

What Flexo said, they're doing that since the Khans and clans were wildly popular compared to the dragons who replaced them in the new timeline. Although a resurgence of the Clans would require an entire three set block as well for it to be good. So while I'm happy that they're bringing back the clans I'm also disappointed.

They better print meme rhino into return to tarkir at uncommon, and if they do I *WILL* do nothing but force abzan on arena.
I still want it in Foundations so we can have FIVE YEARS OF RHINO.

4 More years of Trump
5 More years of Rhino

MAGA

Make Abzan Great Again!

So:
6 standart sets/year, on top of the prolonged rotation
1/2 of that would be UB product
because of the aforementioned, Lorwyn is postpoded till 2026 (fuck)
MaRo is running damage control on tumblr: "no stalkerchild, it is you who are cynicall cashgrab"
some changes to combat

Is that all, or did I forgot something?

You forgot edge of eternities bringing scifi into the magic universe, but I’d want to forget that too.

Progenitus is standard (and probably more importantly Pioneer, creativity says hi) legal.

Shame they killed the weatherlight..

*crosses arms and thinks*

HOLY FUCKING SHIT BALLS while ranting about the Phyrexian War Arc I completely fucking forgot that was a thing that happened, It was not remotely mentioned that the weatherlight was compleated in the actual story.

EEEEEEEEHHHHH Atraxa and Valgavoth are probably better Creativity hits, Proggy is cool to cheat into play but Atraxa and Val are kind of castable if the game gets to that point.

Atraxa sees some play, Valgavoth seems like a worse Atraxa. I think generally the best pioneer version is Worldspine+Xengos for a hasty 30/30. I can see Progen being pretty good in some metas because only sweepers and edicts do anything to him and he has the eldrazi anti-reanimator text like Worldspine does which is all upside since you can pitch it to your loot/rummage spells.

Oh right the pioneer does do that combo, then Proj is just bad because you cant Xenegos it.
