EDH Committee banned stuff back before WotC dedicated themselves to completely dicking up the format and as a result there are a lot of bad cards banned because they didn't like the play pattern and like all of the formats they are deathly allergic to unbanning shit. Coalition Victory for example is cringe but basically any interaction can fizzle it and if your entire pod is tapped out at least it's mercifully quick as opposed to non-deterministic combos ending in Thassa's Oracle.

I wish they split ban list into EDH and CEDH and went much more aggressive in banning in the former.
What i wouldnt give to see my beloved Iona, Shield of Emeria be unbanned...

I don't think she was banned for being a commander. Too disruptive, combined with the fact that she was rarely not either cheated in play or paid for by supranormal mana generation on early turns. And she outright shuts off monocolored decks.
Yes, yes she was, her being cheated in is annoying but handleable, but mono color decks only have so many ways of dealing with Iona, and most of them are kinda shit outside of removing exactly iona

I play red land hate in each of them. Even just one works crazy well. You ever play naked singularity in five color? Shuts the game down for about four turns as you set up to win.
My five color deck has enough lands with Two types and Fetches that I could probably still play through it..but I would have to write down what the fuck makes what.

I have twelve commander decks. Only four don't have red in them. I don't try to play so much red, just every commander I like has red in it.
Obligatory:

I.... so bloomburrow....
A freaking dragon went to the plane and got "animal shifted" into a hawk.

I can't any more. This is so dumb and not even fun dumb.

I foolishly had high hopes for Bloomburrow. No humans sounded like it could be a cool gimmick. I don't know why I wasn't expecting it to be gay furry stuff, given how many insane trannies have infested the hobby (and likely also WOTC itself)

I personally played her in Kaalia(the only way) and i never saw problems. Like i would name one color and sometimes shut off one opponent but i still had 2 to deal with. To this day i think the ban was unnecessary even more so on today's age where removal has increased. Now you have stuff like Farewell and the black version that just shits on your board regardless of how set up you are. The only people that complain about Iona are the mono color players, which is reasonable but my response is play better amd smarter, Iona aint some unbeatable entity or an "I win" card its more of a lighting rod unless the player that you shot down was being a nuisance or you politicking well.

FOR THE FUCKING THIRD TIME BECAUSE YOU RETARDS CAN'T READ

Iona is fine in the 99, However as a Commander she becomes a very large problem for Mono Color decks to interact with, If you are a fucking Mono Color Deck Farewell is not a Fucking answer to Iona because you can't cast it and Mono Color decks should not be forced to run 5 bad removal spells because Iona exists and instantly hoses them out of the game.

Which is why Banned as Commander should be a thing, It does not improve the format to make the Mono-Red deck run shit like the 6 Mana Ugin just to deal with Iona. "GET GUD SCRUB" isn't a valid reponse when the Solution to that is "Play bad cards"
