MTGGoldfish has done breakdowns over the rares/mythics and some uncommons
THAT dude's voice grates on my audio processors. It's way worse when he's visible in the video because the voice does not seem like it should match the face.

Oh yay...Thoracle combo in another format.

That will improve Modern and Timeless.
Thoracle is literally the worst card ever printed and I would be fine with them hitting ctrl+Z and banning it from all formats.

I swear he has undiagnosed dyslexia. His pronunciation is comically bad. I know he sometimes does it intentionally for engagement but some of that is natural.

I think temur energy is going to make a comeback, there’s now three 1-cmc spells that make energy and do an effect, and built properly I could see aetherworks marvel being playable in modern.
Possible but extremely unlikely

Eldrazi tron is also going to be a top tier deck again, boggles and infect are going to jump up a tier, oops all spells will take a turn in the limelight until charbelcher is banned.
E Tron gets better but probably still won't be top tier. Bogles isn't really good enough anymore and I don't see the new support cards changing that or fixing its problems. Same with infect. 0% chance of a Belcher ban

Fury will be unbanned after scam is abandoned by players eager to test new decks, and scam will immediatly become 51% of the modern meta again.
0% chance Fury is unbanned this soon after its banning. Maybe in the future, but extremely unlikely. WOTC is very gun shy about unbanning previously banned Modern cards after GGT gave Dredge a steroid shot in the ass.

The grist flipwalker will see the most play, and will be banned. Ral will see fringe play in storm but won’t be good enough.
Grist is very solid, but not ban worthy. Will likely slot into Yawgmoth shells. Agree on Ral

An assumed bulk rare will break legacy for 6 months with a follow up ban of support cards that won’t solve the problem and finally the card will be banned. Vintage will only care about vexing bauble.
Legacy is weird. Since the card pool is so huge the random bulk becoming strong has happened before. Though it's usually a case of a new archetype or deck being created rather than slotting into an already existing one.
Agree on Vintage, but if a card gets restricted it will be Bauble rather than Saga. Chalice got restricted because you could play all your 0 cost spells then drop it on zero to lock out your opponent from doing the same. Bauble will be guilty of that exact same play pattern. Saga fetches bauble by turn 3 at the absolute earliest.

You know he's got a thread right?
Sadly, it hasn't been updated since he tried making a casino scam channel.

His constant get rich quick youtube scams are hilarious. He's a guy who lucked into a successful MtG channel, so he believes he's a youtube expert.. except everything he has attempt besides MtG content has failed miserably. (probably because he has one of the worst personalities on youtube)

@DootSkeleton I think all my predictions are possible but unlikely, but I wanted to throw as many possibilities at the wall in the hopes that one of them actually happens. In all likelihood nothing major happens, the top tier decks stay at the top, and there’s only minor shifts in the format. It feels like this set was designed as a commander first set, and they decided that it could go straight to modern as a treat. That or they want modern scumbags to play commander and stop playing modern, so they can just make commander sets and not have to make sets for 60-card formats.

I'm pretty sure that they designed the set for Aspiringspike, dude sounds over the moon over how it looks like it turned out. He wanted a bunch of powerful build around cards, most of them not for existing T1 and T2 decks and that is exactly what he got.

I don't know if that's a good idea to sell packs to Modern Spikes to crack but there's only really two possibilities for a set like this:
They print interesting cards that might not get there but at least compel more people to theorycraft and maybe play a greater variety of decks and we complain about muh Commander Horizons
They make a bunch of generically pushed boring cards that fit in every deck like MH2 evoke cycle, Bowmasters and One Ring and we complain they are rotating Modern again.

The guy has had more successful businesses than videos if you believe what he says, but he's always broke somehow.

How is everyone feeling about Modern Horizons 3 being upon us?

Got my pre-release stuff today. Really happy with the variety and value in the cards I got. I paid for it entirely with store credit. When I go sell the valuable cards back, I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with a net-gain in store credit, unless I trade away enough to my friends in the coming weeks.

The unfortunate thing is I didn't get the card I was actually looking for, but I have another bundle that I ordered online for cheaper coming. And if I don't get it, I have enough high value cards that I'm sure I can trade for it with someone I know.

nothing in the set jumped out at me as a brew around that I want to play, but it seems to excite enough people that I’m sure the events will be fun. It feels like it was designed for people who started playing way before I did (gatecrash being my starting point), and that’s been a foreign concept to WOTC for a while now. I think this set will go over really well with enfranchised players, but it’s a solid 5/10 set in my eyes.

The curse of being good at limited is that everyone malds at you at every opportunity.

It's... very rigid. The color-fixing is great, but it is 100% a synergy set. Meaning that if you splash, ideally you want that third color to be part of a shard or wedge that is part of the same game-plan -- abzan, for example, is pretty great because GB cares about 1/1 counters and GW cares about modified, with WB as some weirdass inbetween. Temur by contrast is a little too over-the-place. GR and UG love eldrazi, but UR loves energy.

The big issue is RB. Removal is stupidly important in the format because there's so many cards that just pop off if unanswered, and the eldrazi-ramp decks need to have their early ramp interacted with. Red has some of the best early-game removal and black has great unconditional removal, but the big issue is that... affinity fucking sucks. It's garbage. It can support one drafter, maybe, per pod - but even then I'm skeptical.

Honestly, I think Thunder Junction will be remembered as the better format, but the sheer ease of which you can ramp to 7 mana in this format is pretty instructive for making expensive cards matter. Seriously, the Eldrazi Decks pack a punch. That stupid GR 2/3 reach for 4 that makes 2 spawns on cast is one of the best commons in the format bar none.

I just finished my event, and I switched from a mid to bad mardu modify strategy in round one to 5-color colorless in round two and it took me to a 2-1 finish. Unsealing of kozelek and path of annihilation are gas, and I think we’re in for eldrazi summer (in limited).

Eldrazi were good but I'm too retarded to run it properly, got this nigga from a pack.

It's definitely better as a draft set than sealed, and it's a worse limited format than MH2. I opened a decent amount of money, but the sheer pricing of the set means no events will fire. As always with modern magic, a good rare will 100% take over the game and if you can't answer it it's over.
Unrelated, is there a single couple in MTG lore that is alive, heterosexual and both humans?

path of annihilation
Particularly since you can both tap the spawn for mana and then sac them for more mana, the card's acceleration is nuts. The main thing that'll hold it back is that it's likely to be drafted quite a bit, so it'll be hard to get all the pieces - and you have to be all-in for path. Unsealing is just plain nuts, though.

Yeah, but so long as the removal suite in the set is decent, I don't really hate it. There's also a lot of really solid artifact-enchantment hate, some of which is good enough to be mainboarded, so I don't think that this'll turn out to be too much of a prince set. But yeah if someone plays the bestow phoenix you're not in for a good time, that's for sure.

The Wanderer and Kaito. Possibly Araithia and Tayo, but a reach on that one given her second job.

Wanderer and Kaito are a romance but not a couple, because she's too lost in the multiverse for them to move past their childhood friendship. Plus with Kaito in Spookyhouse, were going to get confirmation that he's desparked and following omenpaths to find her, so the brief stability they had prePhryrexia is over. I don't even know who the other two are and I'm pretty into MtG lore and they have no cards so they don't exist to WotC until they read about them on a Magic wiki.

Clearly powercrept to sell overpriced packs. Skipping entirely, as I did Tijuana Junction and will skip Bloomburrow, and maybe buy the cheap singles I want if Spookyhouse doesn't drive me out of the game all together before I skip Whacky Racers next year.

Nekusar x Tergrid is canon in my heart.
