It should be Blue/White (UW), surely? Return a card and draw a card is white?

I haven't played since Magic Duels died on Steam but they really are continuing with the destruction of Blue aren't they?
It's effectively a tax/tempo spell, a very slightly better version of Remand (only better because it can hit "can't be countered" spells). Blue is still almost mandatory in all competitive decks in Modern and all the eternal formats and has a strong argument for being the "best" color overall. Even with the dogshit counters and draw spells we have in Explorer/Pioneer/Standard you still feel the urge to splash blue in every deck for permission spells.

Blue will continue to be better then white at permission even if white gains access to their umpteenth best counterspell in modern and the eternal formats.
 
They will never give us Rhystic Study in White, but they'll give us this?

The original Brother's War actually did have a good guy, maybe even a couple, but they approached it in a very interesting way. The Ivory Tower people with their academy were the "Third Path" group and they were anti war as well as very accepting. They actually did a rather good job of holding off both forces with their defenses, but then because they were too accepting of other cultures they invited in the Brotherhood of Gix as pilgrims who proceeded to betray them and let in the forces of Mishra which caused them all to be murdered.

It was an interesting take on the topic and amusingly reflects the dangers of taking in refugees without considering their dangers to your way of life. Had they just rejected the weird fucks, they'd probably have made it through the war independently.
Urza was still far far better than his Brother and actively tried to redo the peace talks after Kayla Bin-Kroog's (Urza's Wife) Dad fucked around and found out in the original peace talks.

Mishra chose to burn down Kroog (the City). If he hadn't done that there probably wouldn't have been a Brother's war.

I guess WotC knows their target audience, with this cross-promotion, out of all things:

Urza was the long term right choice, but early on it was much more close as Mishra was a slave that became king and it's implied that Urza's son wasn't his because he was a shitty husband and fucked up Kroog with his negligence due to artifact autism.
 
Man, the oil slick cards really suck. They're too goddamn dark and the art on the mythics is terrible. WotC is probably butthurt that Pokemon beat them to rainbow cards, because those are superior to the oil slicks in every way imaginable.

I mean Kayla maybe being a fucking hoe isn't Urza's fault, and he wasn't in charge of the Nation until after Warlord Man died. Like if Urza were left to his own devices he would have just tinkered forever, at least until the Phyrexian Invasion happened.

Kayla being a hoe was in large part Urza's fault. The only reason he married her was to get the Thran Tome and to have his own tinker shop. Urza wasn't a warlord, but he had no problem using other people, though he was much more open about it than most, and by the time he was fighting Yawgmoth he had done a lot of questionable shit. That and he ultimately saw what Yawgmoth was doing as beautiful.

Mishra originally wasn't exactly evil either, he was a warlord, but he was also part of a warrior culture, but when societies submitted peacefully he didn't make it a point to punish them, such as with Ashnod who he took in and she was a bit fucked in the head. It's also why he was able to seduce Kayla, and he didn't have a problem killing those in his army who would try to attack his allies like Ashnod in Kroog. It wasn't until later that he became fat and eventually twisted by Gix.

That's what was pretty good about the old lore, you could point out who was good and bad, but you could also make arguments about the serious flaws of the good guys and positive aspects of the bad guys.
 
In "Jesus fuck how is WotC so bad at this" News on the 21st they released their rerelease of the Shadows Over Innistrad block for Arena. Well, they accidentally did one of those bugs that sometimes happens in this sort of game, if you use an equipment that grants a creature a "sacrifice this equipment, do effect" effect it instead sacrifices all of your permanents to that effect. Which is kind of haha funny except for this card does lethal damage to your opponent when you sacrifice 7 or more permanents with it.

People, being people, immediately take this to the constructed events that have a buy in and gem (the premium currency) rewards and shit them up and also shit up the ranked ladder. Well, you know, it's no big deal they'll just threaten everyone abusing the bug with suspensions and ban the card (it sees no use outside of limited, and Kamigawa limited is out of rotation atm). Except a separate, unrelated bug also has made them unable to issue card bans. So instead they have done fuck all about it but are planning to maybe do something about it in the future. This is not a hard hoop to jump through to one shot someone and so there are plenty of people abusing it in high mythic on the ladder in the mean time.

Though knowing them, they probably just did what they did with Skull Clamp, where they knew it was a fuck up but hoped no one would ever notice.
 
Skullclamp was an intentionally pushed card that went a bit further than they thought it would. The kunai issue seems more like an unintended consequence of how they're having Arena's rule system function on the backend.
As annoying as it is, this bugged version did give me a laugh because it reminded me of the old valakut and scapeshift kill.
 
I really dislike the new cardtype Battle which is like a reverse Planeswalker thing that a player gives the opponent who has to Defend/Protect it and if it gets killed somehow, the other player wins the Battle and gets to do some sort of effect. There's already major flavor problems for me here. I'm still mad that Planeswalker is a card type. I felt like the players were supposed to be those (that's how it was explained to me in the 1990s) and the most important ones. However, the idea of a sub-game in the game called Battle that provides a benefit for winning the Battle, well, isn't just interacting with the other opponents supposed to be the Battle? So what does this mean now? Will the game overall in Standard be called a War and players can win Battles and still lose the War? I mean, I guess. There are phrases such as,"win the battle but lose the war" and "Pyrrhic victory" and all that, but ew.

The worst kept secret in Standard is they're going to do some fundamental, radical changes to the way the game is played in Standard, which is, how can you radically alter the way something has been done since the 1990s and then say that is the Standard? Really concerned with the idea of these rumored Gameplay changes.
