This is because they can tune the Planeswalkers down if you use the Phyrexian mana to play it.
Yeah but I really wanted a 2cmc wizard tribal with phyrexian mana so that it could work with god-pharoah's faithful and harmonic prodigy.
Like I get a 2CMC (but really 1CMC using ANY mana and 2 life) flying lifeleech is overtuned, but then we already have that 1CMC lifelink deathtouch vampire (granted it's black mana, but eh).
And this is about phyrexia, when I think phyrexia I think phyrexian mana. Not infe- I MEAN TOXIC. And even then there's barely any toxic and even proliferate. Maybe the next saga will have phyrexian mana. Hopefully.

On the bright side kaito looks nice as a planeswalker and the mycosynth gardens land looks nice too.

Probably not

Phyrexian mana was a massive problem the first time around, it is kind of surprising that they are doing it on Planeswalkers at all (and Notice outside of Vraska all the Compleated Planeswalkers are HEAVILY powered down) I am quite frankly surprised that they have a Phyrexian mana Omnath being a thing and I think there is a non zero chance of 5C Omnath being a problem.

Nissa plays a lot better then she looks, at 5 mana + 4 life she protects herself with a 5/5 which is enough to trade with Sheoldred and will start shitting out more every turn if you don't make her naturalize things or remove her. She's a Wrenn and Seven that has the body creation on a +1 and has meaningful words on the other loyalty abilites.

I recently began going to an LGS, and it's been very hit or miss. I have a handful of decks, but I still feel like I lack variety and don't know what I'm interested in playing. Do a lot of people in this thread play EDH, or is it really just for troons?

I'm thinking of building Mayael or Satoru Umezawa to cheat in big creatures, but it feels kinda gay. I'm not sure what to focus on or build right now, but I want access to removal and counterspells. I just don't know what I can play in U that's not shit. I guess that's an issue with the format. With so many options, it's hard to focus on any one thing.
This is why I always said Brawl was not a terrible idea as an onramp for the larger commander format.

To be honest, I'd just research a premade that you like the looks of, get it, then modify it as you go along until you're happy with it.

I assume Jin Gitaxis 3.0 is bad but that saga half is crazy so maybe someone figures out how to build a deck to be able to flip him.
What do you mean? It's just 3 mana + 2 life with a 7+ hand in the card drawing color. Cast any 3+ cost "draw #" spell and you're getting an extra card. He's going to be easy to flip.

Any one else annoyed that chandra is YET AGAIN the solution to everything? And I used to be a chandra fanboy and even I'm sick of this.

Also news, commander masters:

And the LotR set:

I think it's more about burning shit usually is the solution to most problems. Not the optimal solution, usually, but a solution still.

Dropping this in response to the middle earth set

Why are there horror creature types in white? This makes no sense to me.
Because New Phyrexia was once Mirrodin, which was an artificial Plane made by Karn back when he was an Old Walker, Apparently he didn't do a great job with it because it began to fall apart (All artificial Planes do if not maintained by somebody) really quickly, The Suns are actually Giant Mana Balls so the Phyrexians got infused with an equal amount of colored mana instead of just Black which Old Phyrexia was heavily tilted towards.

So now we have Elesh Norn as a white aligned Phyrexian flaying the skin off people and replacing it with Porcelianish Metal, and Horror is one of the typical Phyrexian typings for fully Compleated phyrexians.

The Dominus Cycle and the (not yet complete cycle but All will be one Alchemy has a red one) of Phyrexian Obliterator style cards are meant to be Compleated so them being full Horrors make sense.

always fucking translifeline
It's almost like they pin-point target people who immediately capitulate to even the mildest pressure and have an audience that's fucking desperate to buy themselves absolution from a concept of sin that they don't even subscribe to, lol

Not that I'd expect TCC to turn them down, but had he even contemplated not funding a rather dubious charity (we're different now guis! promise we won't embezzle again, PROMISE, but also we're gonna keep the same name and trademark) he'd have immediately had nightmares from legions of the permanently-online saying mean things about him for a whopping two days. Now me, personally, I don't entirely get it because TCC could milk those two days of negativity with a week's worth of "I've been thinking..." and "I hear you, I'm sorry" content, but what do I know?

Karn didn't realize he had Phyrexian parts in him that carried oil or something (yet Urza would have known this), and when he left the Mirrari - Memnarch - to watch over it, Memnarch went crazy from the oil's influence and made the mycosynth. The original block details how Glissa, Slobad, and Bosk all go beat Memnarch up, Slobad becomes a planeswalker? and all life on the plane fucking dies or something? and Slobad gives up his spark to resurrect everyone, except the original crew of people that Memnarch had kidnapped from different planes get teleported back away from the plane, but their descendents stick around - and are increasingly becoming part-machine because of spreading mycosynth.

It sounds like a weird, dumb, stupid miss - but man, I'll take it over ONE's story. "Jace acts out of character and like a fucking retard to jeopardize the entire mission, he brings along the guy whose only two other appearances have led to him attempting to massacre entire legions of innocents for... some reason, suddenly everyone realizes that the sylex they brought to blow everything up might actually blow everything up and has last-second reservations about it because apparently it's better to kill the entire universe than to kill a section of it, and cliffhanger!!!!! how will we have teferi rewind history to get ourselves out of this one????" Man, I fucking miss the three-set block structure. You could actually have stories be told there. OH WELL LET'S WRAP UP THIS STORY IN A SINGLE BLOCK SO WE CAN GO BACK TO IXALAN!!!!! DINOSAUR PIRATES LMAO!!!!

The original idea of the plot was that Karn first leaving Mirrodin with Memnarch in charge to Mirrodin book 1 was supposed to be hundreds if not thousands of years, but that seemed to have gotten retconned somewhere to be a much shorter span of time so it only took Decades for the plane to go from pure metal to the oil infiltration, to Memnarch comming up with his crazy ass fucking plan to bring flesh and blood beings to get a new planeswalker spark to steal to unflesh the plane and stabilize it falling apart.

In fairness I am reasonably certain Memnarch was supping on the oil in his free time which explains where he came up with genius ideas like this. I may be confusing him with Doctor Klein from The Secret World though.

I quite enjoyed some of the 3 set plots. I'll never describe Kamigawa plot as high art but almost every named character's terrible decisions made sense for them to pick in that story. And I did enjoy an angry ogre essentially making a shit list and working his way up it while continuing to add to the list. Especially the point where the next target was "my own demon god for running from a fight (against an apocalyptic spirit) in front of me. I will not be known as the guy who worshipped a wimp."

That is a Top 5 Moment in Magic Lore.

"That motherfucker ran from O-kagaki? FUCK THAT SHIT I'MA GO EAT HIM AND USRUP HIS POSITION"

Said by an ogre that had just been blinded too.

In fairness from the word go it was clear that he was going to be a silly presence in the spirit ravaged world. The majority of the populace are shitting themselves over the spirit invasion. He was beating them up for info and then feeding them to demons.

Also you have to assume his negotiations with lesser demons all went roughly the same way. Demon called in, has a moment of excitement when it realises there is no binding circle. Then it wonders why the light is dimming and looks up to see a fist bigger than it's skull descending towards it. After a few minutes of needless brutality I'd imagine the average demon would agree to anything if the ogre would just stop hitting it.

I was hoping they'd go full urza, but no.
muh WHY IS THE DOOMSDAY DEVICE GOING TO EXPLODE??? ALSO HUG ME ZOMBIE GIRLFRIEND.

This phyrexian expansion really is just one big disappointment. Here I was hoping Urza would rise from his grave and spank jace's ass for being a femboy or use his psychic hairgel as components for a toilet using jace as sewer piping. But little did I know Urza might become the femboy if they touch his story. :(

this shit makes me MATI. A bunch of valueless troons without money donating to a troon-run grift for various creators to virtue signal. Even if they were a pure organization that did exactly what they say they did to their maximum capacity, it's the most niche and overwhelmingly least effective place to donate resources. Hundreds of thousands of homeless people yet let's help the 3 troons a year who call this number.

I look forward to the inevitable shitshow of "I never got my prize" in the following weeks.

TCC is a faggot and is funding something that is evil because he's too stupid to do any kind of digging into the topic. Then again, what else is new when it comes to Youtube e-celebs? They all sell scams to unsuspecting shmucks and profit off of it with joy, whether it's shilling FTX, some Logan Paul grift, Established Titles, or this. The only difference is, is that with the other shit it's just people losing money instead of kids being mutilated.
