Genuinely can't believe how many troons there are. I've already clocked like 6 in the first 15 minutes of being here. I swear it wasn't this bad last year.

Guess the hotel is aptly named.

I would love to see photos of their "MAGPIE Nest". Can't believe they dedicated space to this DEI bullshit.

They actually applied estimated NOISE LEVEL categories in the Guidebook. I'm sorry, you're going to a loud-ass convention, and you need to be warned about what events are noisy? And, why in the fuck is there a NUDITY category, for a convention that has been trying to bill itself as "Family-Friendly" overall?

Some drama over on Reddit. Dude calls out Magfest's discord and their overrmoderation and Cory Anotado being the fat fuck that he is cried about this and got the redditors to downvote him and also wants him blacklisted from the future events.

I'll give this thread a more thorough read in the next coming days (a friend of mine told me about it).

Still, as for my immediate thoughts on FAGfest MAGfest go, I only ever knew it as this con that "weird twitter" creatures love to frequent and obsess with, as well as signal and grandstand to their 'ironic' followings, so it's not surprising that it easily rivals (and possibly) dwarfs GDQ as far as sheer degeneracy and depravity are concerned.

MAGFest is also fascinating in that it seems to have a lot of sub-cults running below the main one. An immediate example I can think of is one FunnyRave, which was made by wannabe twitter pundits like Jab50Yen (perpetually online micro-celebrity who feels the need to infect as many nerd cons as possible with his anti-charisma stench). FunnyRave seems to exists for the sole purpose of turning the "irony" shtick into overdrive, and somehow using that as a 'rehabilitating' tool for freakshows and pedarasts who have otherwise been long ostracized from nerdy cycles.

More specifically, those YTP panels are done by Youchew subhumans, and they're less about the fad and more about clout and validation chasing. If it's as cancerous as it sounds, it's because it is.

Fun fact: GDQ originated at MAGfest, specifically MAGfest 8 back in 2010.
 
I went to a Magfest like over a dozen years ago. Yes, I'm old.

It was fun enough, my main memory from it is going to the Street Fighter Alpha 3 setup and thinking "golly, I better not restrict myself playing myself my main Cody like I do against the AI, and go all-out against these good players"... only to smash every opponent hard enough that I began to actively restrict myself again, and had the same results on Oro at SF3 Third Strike. For like an hour and a half people came to watch me smoke all challengers. It was fun and everyone was pretty cool. I like fighters, so having a con with a focus on them felt like a real treat, y'know?

So seeing what this con devolved into.... MAN....

Clout/validation chasers from twitter, bluesky etc are always the ones that ruins those festivals, much like how they ruin everything else they touch.

As one of the very few that was there at the start of it all, it's a real kick in the teeth. Especially when I read feedback on their subreddit, asking for the Drag Show to be put in the concert hall and replace band(s) time, because the drag show was that popular this year.

Honestly fur cons did this way back in the day in circa 2019 to own trumpers I guess its the Weebs and gamers turn to do the same thing. Well I guess we will all be trooned guys if I troon out I hope I am at least a better looking one than this sky person I dont want the Jewish nose.
