For all the hyping MAGfest did for it's "virtual" presence, I would say it's pretty lackluster. It's literally just a physical stationary screen, and a camera that links to the VirtualHarbor VRChat space... that MAGfest didn't even create.

As for their Twitch streams, it's near 7 PM, and they still only have their MAGFast Speedrunning channel, and the MAGLan tournament channel up and running.

Let's check in on the Covid policy enforcement, shall we?
RegistrationSardines.PNG

Surely it can't be THAT bad...?
RegistrationFiasco.jpg

Oh....
This photo, signals to me, that registration staff, are either in seriously short supply, they are completely untrained, or something spectacularly has fucked up. Registration lines haven't been this bad on first day, since MAGfest 9. Previous years, registration department could work through over 1,000 people standing in line, in less than 30 to 45 minutes. This? This is a fuck-up of epic proportions.

As for the DeVito shrine...
FurryTrash.PNG

It's also now been reported, the cash donation box is no longer present. Either stolen, or picked up by a staffer.
DeVitoShrineDay1AtNight.jpg

Artist Alley/Vendors are getting more agitated about possible table cost refunds for not being able to attend, despite their contract stating that no refunds will be given.

And in further news about just how lowdown and petty upper MAGfest staff are, they have completely stricken Brendan/Inverse Phase/Mr MAGFest from the list of Performers in the Guidebook after his announcement of self-cancelling his appearance. For reference, other guests/panelists/performers that have cancelled, are noted as being such, and not removed from the list.

If anyone is willing to keep tabs on it, the MAGFest Discord is here. I've been pretty much blackballed from it, so I can't look in on the inanity of it all myself.

the funniest part of all this are the people who want covid to be worse than it is and who JUST CAN'T EVEN handle other people having any fun at all during a heckin pandemerino, because nobody ever caught a cold at a convention before 2020

The sheer amount of trannies in that one photograph.

I'm half expecting it to get shut down on Saturday,

1641455242446.png

There's some cope, there's some fear, there's some bullshit, but mostly it's kinda sad that this is how it will end - With a boring and dull final event and their shit board sucking the last pennies dry before they e-beg so they can continue to pay their "office staff" to run things into the ground.

Who are these jokers in safety vests on their main stream, now that they finally have a main stream? What is this? I don't want to piss on them too much, but this would have been half-assed in Jamspace at previous mags.

People are certainly echoing the current state, especially when it got to the late night hours. Granted, it is only the first day, with the proper weekend coming up, but it still doesn't bode well.

That was "Magnificent Danger". I honestly didn't catch their performance, because I was too fed up with the shoegaze shit that was on before them, "Nmlstly". The whole musical lineup this year, save for a few returning regular performers, feels like a 3rd string fallback.

And it looks like attendees have now added a broken hand sanitizer station to the DeVito shrine. Plus, MAGfest blocked out the mention of the cash donation box. Lemme guess, not enough staff willing to keep an eye on it?
DeVitoShrineDay2.PNG

2nd fire alarm of Super MAGFest 2022. Granted, these are usually set off by some asshat leaving a lit cigarette in the mulch outside the game room, but I would not be shocked if someone was actually pulling them at this point:

Ahahahahahaha... Refund requests, will go to the Events Director... namely, Debra Lenik.

Man... where to even begin with this shitshow that happened...

Let's start from the top: Final attendance numbers announced at closing ceremonies was "around 10,000". Other figures tossed out by staff were "80% of normal content, with only 40% of normal staff". That last figure intrigues me the most, since MAG either chased off staff due to own internal policies, or volunteer staff wising up and saying "fuck this Covid risk".

Speaking of which, MAGfest is already being proactive in releasing the numbers of confirmed Covid cases, and detailing the times/events where there were confirmed positive people in attendance

Real nice "social distancing" enforcement there, MAGfest... since you allowed a fucking MOSH PIT to happen. And I couldn't help but laugh my ass off, at MAGfest being so incompetent, that they had to list one room party as "the room with the "Cum Over" message on the windows (sorry)"
CumOver.jpg

MAG certainly wasn't without the mentally ill this year, and hoo boy, shit was on fire in this respect. As in, literally on fire:
MAGfestPanelFire.png

Secondhand reports from the MAG Discord server say "that person was having a "Mental health crisis" and escaped her handler's hotel room. Her friend also seemed pissed that everyone in said Discord was rightfully weirded out by that creepy motherfucker."

Also gotten reports of a random non-attendee sneaking in a side door of the Gaylord, and setting up at a Jampod and blasting music, before Security finally stepped in and removed him. Also reported that this guy was also unvaccinated.

As much as I despise Kotaku, their report ( https://archive.md/PAQT8 ) about MAGfest's Covid cases (including mentioning the "cum over" room) does shine a bit of a light towards MAG's idiocy. The amount of copium and spin being dished out by the MAGShills in the comments, is absolutely amazing.

Everyone knows that when people have mental health crises, they set things on fire and deserve kisses and hugs rather than a straitjacket.

I was under the impression that a "mental health crisis" was suicidal ideation and not arson.

ETA: Apparently the correct vernacular for this situation is "psychiatric emergency".

I'm guessing "she" was the type of person having a 24/7 mental health crisis.

"Mental health crisis", "escaped her handler's hotel room", - Bitch, if you're crazy enough to be locked up, why are you locked up at a nerd conference music festival? I love that the newspeak is in full force - I though that "experiencing a mental health crisis" was just a Pacific Northwest euphemism, but apparently it's spread.

At what hotel is writing the words "CUM OVER" onto your atrium window with post-its not enough to get you kicked out? Not even the sexual content; It's just tacky.

Hey, I was at MAG this year. I can't believe how many covid cases there ended up being (I seem to have gotten away covid free). It's kind of laughable that GooCheese of Baked Alaska fame snuck her way in, coughed on some simp, and no one involved got sick. Clearly I'm missing all the interesting shit, I had no fucking idea about someone escaping their handler and starting a fire.

Welp, the crazy bitch who lit a fire on stage after crashing a panel is one Tatiana Spears. Didn't have to dig at all for this, since she thought it'd be a great idea to plaster photos of her own police report, and the "police brutality" (i.e. a bruise on her arm) all over MAGfest's subreddit

MAGStock came... and went. Red Dead Redemption themed... in the loosest definition. New campground, and plenty of new, unexpected expenses. Just pass the cost onto the attendees starting at $165, and raise the price $10 every 100 registrants! For the record, registration cost never went above $175. Oh, and be sure to harp on everyone to wear their covid muzzles, and have that protective divider at registration!
CovidOutdoors.jpg

Activities included: Cardboard Boat making, Paper Airplane throwing, BB-Gun target shooting, and pinewood derby car races. What was this, a camping weekend for little kids? Lots of longtime MAGStock attendees turned this year down, citing not being able to justify the much higher registration cost, including a volunteer who would provide golf cart/people mover tram usage free of change. MAG continues to piss off the free help/resources, and thus incurring more expenses.

For the record, MAGStock has now become the cheap knock-off version of "Epic Nerd Camp", at the very same campground

Nevermind that, MAGWest 2022 is coming up, the event that continues to bleed money for MAG every year, since attendance numbers still aren't at the level that makes MAGWest profitable. PDFs of Meeting Notes, Volunteer New Orientation Slides, and event layout attached below.

MAGWest still using COVID as an excuse for their lack of organization and follow-up for Vendors/Artists that applied to sell stuff.

West staff was more concerned with making sure the volunteers full name wasn't blasted out to the internet, rather than solve the actual issue. Their age-old excuse of "we'll do better next time" falls right into the same old pattern.
