I'm a fan of the franchise and I particularly liked 3 so I picked up TOC and played it for a few hours last night. It's definitely back in the linear naughty dog movie game style, and looking at the map, I don't think it's going to open up. But I'm going in blind, so I don't really know. Gamers are retarded for calling Mafia 3 repetitive and probably robbed us of greater ambitions in this title.

The story so far is very good for a game. They haven't forgotten the Mafia formula of setting you up with a crew at the bottom levels and letting you actually work up progressively. In fact, about three hours in, I think I only just got handed a gun and it didn't come with any bullets. The setting is very well-realized. I have had zero experiences thus far with black, trans, or gay content which in a 2025 game is a miracle.

UE5 kinda sucks. I was very impressed by how many actual polygonal boulders they can get on screen at once, a lot of the environments really do look great because of the level of polygonal detail. But all the temporal shading effects are painful. Characters' heads are often subjected to so many temporal shading effects that they appear as if through a heat shimmer, noisily changing their entire silhouette from frame to frame. I miss the days of just doing good art on a solid engine, rather than putting non-optimized art on an experimental engine with its wheels falling off.

I wanted to like Mafia III, but the popular consensus of it being too repetitive is true. You’re driving around New Orleans having to attack various strongholds just to unlock a major plot point and repeat with no deviation. That same premise is in Saints Row, but as side activities, not gatekeepers for the plot.

I was burned out at recruiting Burke. Mafia III has its writing to carry mediocrity into decent. But, if I’m not having fun playing the game for the story, what’s the point? III was internally mismanaged from the start; its repetition is a factor of that mismanagement.

So you liked playing as a nigger, who have absolutely nothing to do with the mafia, are you shitting me, I hope you aren't White.
The game was good so it wasn't a big issue for me. Might be tough for a barnyard animal such as yourself; just so you know, your idolized criminal scum in the mafia aren't white either.

If you don't like the driving and the stealth-or-combat base takedowns then you're not gonna like it, is what it is, that's the game

Mafia 1's remaster is, according to the gaymers in this thread, very different from the actual original game and markedly inferior.
Those people are stupid.
I played the original mafia on CONSOLE back in the day. Mafia Remake was what I wanted the original to be in every sense of the word.
It’s one of the few times since I started gaming that I legit jumped out of my chair with bugged out eyes when I saw it get announced.

i'm happy to have a game that explores that overlapping era of horse-and-Model-T like stuff like RDR (as a franchise) and BF1 did.
I hope Rockstar takes notes and handles cars the same way in RDR3 if it’s set in the early 20’s.
Apparently the new game will be about the length of the Mafia 1 remake
Great. Not every game has to be 70+ hours.
It’s also 50 bucks so that’s not bad.
That’s 5 bucks per hour.

Mfers will have no problem spending 8+ bucks on a 2 hour movie + popcorn and soda Microtransactions but won’t spend 5 bucks an hour on a cool immersive experience like this that they can play “forever” (yeah I know about the licensing agreement crap don’t worry)
Another shitty game from Hangar 13
Tell me you’ve never played a Mafia game without telling me.
Gamers are retarded for calling Mafia 3 repetitive and probably robbed us of greater ambitions in this title.
It was repetitive tho.
They heard people complain that Mafia 2 had a big open world with nothing to do so they said “Oh yeah? Well here’s all this side content that you HAVE to do!”

That same premise is in Saints Row, but as side activities, not gatekeepers for the plot.

Yep. People didn’t hate the open world of 3. What they hated was the awful side activities that weren’t really side activities because you had to do them to progress the story.
Saints Row 2 made it so you had to have “respect” to do the story missions and it was a lot easier to get and was only really a thing early on in the game. Once you had enough “Respect” you could play the rest of the story missions no problem.

So it sounds like this game is totally worth the 50 bucks.
I’ll be getting it next week most likely.

Ok so you're not a fan of Mafia and have dogshit taste. Thanks for outing yourself.

Wow you're a huge fan, you played the hilariously shit port of Mafia on PS2. And you wanted the original to be absolute trash for the lowest common denominator plebbitor. You couldn't make your opinion on this series sound more worthless if you tried.

This is the kind of faggot that loves butchered garbage like the SH2 demake and the Mafia demake.

Original Xbox you absolute mush brain.
You couldn't make your opinion on this series sound more worthless if you tried.
Exactly what Mafia games do you like?
The PC port of the first one and that’s it?

Bro is a fan of one game and acts like he speaks for the franchise.
Shut the fuck up retard lmao.

I played the other shit port!
I don't care. Makes no functional difference to it being shit, lilbro.

Hey tourist, PC is the original version. The console versions were (dogshit) ports of the original PC classic. No wonder you know jack shit about Mafia and spew the most contemptible plebbit tourist takes.

I don't know where your retarded non-sequitur presumption came from, considering all we were talking about is how shit the demake is and how your opinion is clearly worthless. How you parsed that into me only liking Mafia 1 is incomprehensible to anyone but a spastic like yourself.

Cry harder you stupid tourist, actual fans wouldn't even count Hangar 13's garbage as Mafia because the original dev team making Mafia 1&2 fell apart. Bet you didn't know that. It's a hollowed out shell of the original dev team run by absolute scrubs that worked on shit like the Force Unleashed games. Which explains the abysmal dogshit quality of their games post-2.

One thing you've confirmed is that you don't speak for anyone but tourists, lilbro. To go back to the SH comparison, this is like some retard claiming they're the biggest SH fan because they love all the shit games made by different devs post-SH4. All you're proving is the exact opposite, lmao.

@capitalBBustard I was about to make some similar posts to yours, but I guess you beat me to the punch. You even managed to give a beat down to @CyrusHowler one of the biggest gaming casuals/tourists on this site(a Bethesda fan to boot) so you earned my respect. I will even let go of that absolutely schizo rant you made in the Capcom thread the other day because I am just that nice.

That said, can anyone who actually played the only game that matters(First one, on PC since we need to specify) tell me how bad this one is? I heard conflicting reports, apparently it's more modern day garbage but "it's okay because it's only 50 bucks", forgetting that this used to be the baseline price for some of the best games ever made decades ago. Tourists need not apply.

It was repetitive tho.
To me this is like saying that Counter-Strike or Gran Turismo is "repetitive." Would you have preferred that the game let you go play bowling or something between missions, like GTA? Fine enough... but that's not my opinion. I play a game because I like the main thing that game is about.

Ok so you're not a fan of Mafia and have dogshit taste. Thanks for outing yourself.
I'd be happy to talk about what I like and don't like about it, but it seems like what you're doing is starting off with your own opinions and then coming into this thread hoping everyone else agrees with you, because, I dunno, I guess your mommy told you that you're special. Grow up and use your words faggot.

The only good thing this game gave us was that clip of a kid shitting himself and his mom screaming at him. Honestly, that is probably the game's biggest unironic fan, too.
The only Mafia 3 that had any chance of being good was the one that was scrapped, the product we got was always going to be blackwashed, unpolished and unfinished slop.

You can ethnically cleanse the city of Haitians and hand the whole thing over to either the Irish, the Italians, or both. I sometimes think I'm the only racist who actually played this game and knows this hilarious detail. It would certainly explain why nobody else seems to understand that the game actually had great driving and solid stealth/combat systems. Nigger protagonist scared them all off, I guess, even though they all probably loved San Andreas as kids.

The game is boring and not worth playing. Sorry that your taste in open world crime games is so abhorrent, but glad you finished the game, I guess.
If you're going to go for the cinematic, modern day Mafia game at least play the remastered version of the original. Nobody cared about 3 back when it released and certainly nobody cares about it now.

I did play the remaster of the original, just like I played 3. I'm the guy who has played the games we are talking about. You are the other guy. Fucking retard

"No U" when all I did was insult the universally accepted shittiest game in the entire franchise nobody liked. Yeah, you are a tourist, guarantee your low IQ and ADHD would never allow you to complete the original Mafia game(on PC, since some "people" here apparently played the shitty console ports).
