Much like every other country, the Chinese government has issued guidance to the various government agencies that they should buy 100% Chinese made goods whenever possible for a wide range of categories/products.

The USA has a problem with this, since Buy American is supposed to apply to the world at large.

It's easier to buy Chinese though since everything seems to be made there.

Cheap Chinese goods for China? Have fun with everything being contaminated with lead and cadmium.
 
The Chinese government is pushing hard for citizens to avoid foreign-made products, but having foreign branding is actually incredibly valuable there.

Many Chinese consumers inherently mistrust Chinese-made goods, often paying through the nose for foreign alternatives.
There have been multiple scandals of food and medicines being adulterated and killing hundreds or thousands of children, so any parents who can afford them will go for Western products at any opportunity.
It's the Chinese themselves who coined the phrase "Tofu-Dreg Buildings" for the kind of shoddy construction you can often pry apart with your bare hands.

I mean look at this shit, imagine living in a high-rise building made with those materials:


They know what's up, even if they can't publicly declare Chinese goods for the garbage they are.
