I've played through this game - it only takes maybe 90 minutes to do so. A huge problem with games which focus more on story than gameplay like this is that, right after completing it, I pretty much uninstalled the game and haven't thought much about it since.
I think Superhot is a better example. Story-driven, short playtime, cheap graphics (though I kinda like the untextured polygon aesthetic personally), but still enough gameplay to make it worth replaying every once in a while, plus lots of challenge modes (like "complete this level from the game, but you can only use this weapon") for completionists. A far better and more memorable game, and it probably didn't cost that much more to develop than Pony Island.
