Actually the Chinese have not only replicated Europe last generation nuclear reactors but they have been able to finish the design that we are still struggling to complete. In other words, they took the draft and finished the machine and we are still trying to figure it out. Look up EPR generation III reactors. It doesn't really matter to Americans because they don't rely on nuclear energy so much (given they have oil and gas) but it was a big deal in Europe (the Wikipedia article on this is a great read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPR_(nuclear_reactor)).
China has built a few nuclear power plant using these EPR III reactors and I don't think we have completed a single one yet.
And while the US was the first country to achieve nuclear fusion in 2022, China set up the record for the longest sustained fusion reaction at 1000+ seconds usingf the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST). They are aiming for commercial fusion by 2030.
